When can we expect missions to be available for download? I'd love to run the new 4th edition shadowrun missions campaign for my local group, but I'd rather not wait till the end of the month to be able to do so.
It should be up on the web site "Real Soon Now." TM
i'd be willing to pay usage fees (say about 5 -8 bucks) for access to download missions as soon as they are available.
Just something to think about.
For the record there are two ways to get Missions early. There's no payment involved for either, but there is a bit of work:
1) Become a Commando. Commandos get the Missions more than a month in advance of the web site listing.
2) Agree to run the Mission at a public event such as a convention or a game day. Conventions and Game Days are provided with adventures at least 2 weeks in advance of their events. (So, slightly after Commandos receive them.)
The problem with commando is first you apply then you have to write a story then you have to get your local game store to support you as a firebase.
Sorry but you ask for too much and provide too little.
Advance copys of missions and a free book or 2 while I do all the above and must run at a minimum of 6 games a year.
Sadly there is only one real convention in my area (Orlando Florida) it is the largest in Florida to my knowledge and 2nd or 3rd in the southeastern US yet no Fanpro support at all.
Sorry but you make it hard for me and others around here to want to be commando's let alone run missions and support Fanpro.
Of all the people I know there are only 2 guys I know who do run missions at Megacon.
To them I say thank you very very much for doing so even though in my opinion you get very little help and/or support.
I think these requirements are very reasonable.
If you have a local group of players, you can easily run 6 games a year. Play them at your local shop and let leave slots open to the public to drop in and play.
The story is easy. It's only a page or two, so write up a simple ploy synopsis, add a full character or two and you're done.
I assume that all of your games don't have to be at a big con. You can run mini cons at your local shop that are open to everyone that wants to play.
Just my two cents.

The first SR4 Missions has been posted: http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/wordpress/?p=108
And please do continue to give feedback about the Commando system; as John mentioned there are some changes afoot to help better serve Shadowrun players and GMs in the organization.
Thanks, Adam!
Please use the online feedback tool!
Tipping my hand slightly...but as a writer, I'm going to be reading through a lot of the feedback on the missions I write not only to help improve later Missions but also to show to help the later actions unfold properly. (IE: If most teams geek Mr Johnson, his appearance later should probably have a good reason behind it.)
Thanks Adam and John for setting up the online feedback tool!

The program coordinator is aware of many players concerns, and we're working on an alternative solution for those who don't want to commit to that sort of activity. But, ultimately, most Commandos aren't in the program for the bennies. We run the games because we love Shadowrun and we want to introduce it to more people. Receiving Missions a month early and getting compensatory product are really fringe benefits. Not the focus of the program. |

1) The folks running Missions at MegaCon were Commandos. If you'd like them to run more games, I'd encourage you to contact them through CommandoHQ. That's FanPro support in action. If you want a Freelancer to come down and talk Shadowrun with you, then you'll need to ask the convention folk to sponsor them as a guest of honor. Airfare and hotel expenses are expensive. |

| I would think someone from Fanpro calling and saying hey we have people saying they want us to be your guest and then talking to them about your needs would be better. |

| can I just run home games and qualify for the advance copies of missions? |

| Also if I run the players who are very kind to travel to my house to play and they play SRM's I can fill out the log sheet for each of them and then they can use those characters at a con I would hope? |
Just a simple question:
What exactly is your problem with having only one SRM adventure per month?
Even with advance access, you'd get exactly ONE adventure early, after that you have still the one per month frequency.
