If you know about a convention that is hosting SRM events, make sure to post it here - not everyone goes to check out the convention listings elsewhere here on Dumpshock....

I would promise to be there.

For Anyone in the Hohenfels/Grafenwohr/Regensburg region of Germany (Anyone welcome) let me know you're interested in Missions and I'll look into Running/Getting it run near you.

I'm located in Hohenfels, personally, and have already set up a few dates to run Mission Briefing, in addition, I'm working on getting a section of time @ a gaming store in Regensburg to run Missions as well. For anyone in Munich, I've also been in touch with a store down there as well, but they don't have the space for a table in store.

I'm not a native speaker, and my German is pretty limited, so any games I run will be in English. However, if there's anyone else in this area of Bavaria that's interested in helping/playing - Drop me a line at sickdawg0@lycos.com (it's Sickdawg(ZERO) not O).

From what I've seen so far, Shadowrun is incredibly popular in Germany - second only to Die Swartz Age - It's surprising that I haven't seen more German Dumpshockers - Get in touch folks, let's get something rolling.

Anyone interested in running a SRM game on this board? I'd love to join one of those!

Posted by: WinterRat1 Apr 20 2004, 12:20 PM

Man, it's been a while since I was here. Apparently a lot has transpired in my absence. First, I would like to say that I am really looking forward to the Shadowrun Missions. It is an outstanding idea, and despite some apprehension about how it will be run (anticipating the usual bugs and kinks in an endeavor of this magnitude) I am most certainly hyped for it.

My major question and concern is, will there be a centralized forum/location/website where we can all go to keep up to date on the various SRM events that will held, and/or a place where we can try to get in touch with other players so we can run home SRM events if we cannot go to conventions? (Apologies for the long sentence)

Additionally, will there be a place that will keep us up to date on the relevant SRM information? Checking out the Official Shadowrun Website, it was woefully inadequate. It was not until browsing through several of the Dumpshock posts that I felt I had a handle on the process. I would hate to miss out on something like, say, an online SRM game, simply because I was unable to locate that information in time to participate.

Please note that these are not complaints, and should not be taken as such. Rather, they are concerns that I have as an excited member of the Shadowrun community who would like very much to see SRM succeed, and to be a part of it when it does.

I’m looking forward to watching SRM come to life, and hopefully, getting a chance to play with other longtime Shadowrun enthusiasts. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even see some of you out there…

Posted by: bitrunner Apr 20 2004, 12:47 PM

you found it!

this is the "official" forum for the campaign where the most up-to-date info will be held...

the website is fairly static, although i hope to change that soon...it is basically there to be a reference and get people interested...since you're here, it worked! smile.gif

any events such as online games will be announced here...well, in this forum, not necessarily this thread....you know what i mean...

Posted by: Fu-Man Chu Apr 28 2004, 02:09 AM

Yay! I'll be going to Origins! Is anyone planning to run a SR: Missions there?

Posted by: bitrunner May 5 2004, 02:17 PM

unfortunately, as i mentioned elsewhere, there will not be any SRM at Origins this year (unless it is a pickup game)...

this is my fault - i missed the deadline - it was already passed a week by the time i checked on it...

FanPro now has a Convention Manager that takes care of organizing and scheduling of events for the big cons like Gencon and Origins, so this won't happen again.

Posted by: bitrunner May 6 2004, 08:19 PM

OK, here are some conventions coming up where I'll be running SRM events:

OASIS - Orlando FL - May 28-30
Radisson Hotel
see www.sunquestgames.com for more info

I'll be running "Pot Luck" - no, that's not a new adventure. Depending on what players I get at the table will decide which adventure I run. This will be offered at 2PM and again at 7PM on Saturday (May 29). Each table will have a different adventure chosen from the first three adventures. This will probably be your last chance to catch the early adventures in the Orlando area.

DreamCon - Jacksonville FL - June 11-13
Adam's Mark Hotel
see www.dreamcon.net for more info

I'll be running more "Pot Luck" - right now i'm tentatively scheduling sessions for Saturday (June 12) at 9AM, 2PM, and 7PM and one slot on Sunday (June 13) at 9AM. Once again they will be chosen from the first three adventures. For those in North Florida and Southern Georgia who didn't get an opportunity to get down to Orlando, this is a great chance to squeeze in these early adventures.

Well, it's time again to ask about SRM #2. I really would like to run it at ConCarolinas at the beginning of June...

Posted by: Dark father May 12 2004, 03:30 PM

That's it! I made my decision. I will start running Shadowrun Missions games in Montreal, Quebec. Just to get the pace of the game, I will begin by running the first mission to my home group, just to see how the system works. I will also try to run it as an online game for a second group. As I see how things work, I will then organize scheduled Missions game at my local stores!

If anyone would be interested to do mission SRM1 online in french, just contact me at milhouse46 - hotmail.com. By doing some online Missions games, I would be able to see how we could implement an online system for Missions, to which I would be interested to volunteer.

This system looks very promising, and I'm ready to volunteer a lot to make this project a success!

What's the word on DragonCon this year? Their gaming schedule is not up yet, and I was hoping I could find out whether there will be some SR Missions goodness to which I can look forward.

Thanks for the info.

Robert (aka, Satin)

Posted by: bitrunner Jul 15 2004, 01:04 PM

hopefully, one of the atlanta commandos will respond to this better -

i know that SRM00-04 A Fork In Fate's Path will be making its debut for sure. I think the plan is to have ALL FIVE demo events running at DragonCon...IF they can get the GMs for it...

Posted by: RobertB Jul 16 2004, 12:08 PM

Well, here's hoping they can get the GMs then.

Thanks for the info.

Posted by: Regnad Kcin Jul 19 2004, 09:19 PM

As far as I can tell, we've got GMs for all the scenarios for DragonCon. I'm scheduled to run Briefing and Dark & Stormy my own self. RT, the ATL Commando is also running 5 sessions, and I belive that we've got at least one other GM who's running his own SRM module.

Posted by: Regnad Kcin Aug 2 2004, 01:41 PM

Modules 1,2,3 & 5 are available from the Command HQ download area. #0 seems to have fallen off, though. As for #4, I'll let Rich grumble about that...

Any word on when they'll be available for the public ?

i have to make some minor corrections and then i'll be sending it to Adam - he usually posts it in a few days...

The Capital Area Role Players (CARP) of Lansing, Michigan will be running the first module, Mission Briefing, at our August Game Day and picnic. We hope to run the second and third modules, or mabye even the first module of the first story arc, at Foundation-Con. http://www.carp-mi.net to register and for directions to the park we'll be playing at. $10 for non-members gets you playing and food. The entire thing is free for members, so sign up!

First time poster here. I'm looking to get involved in Shadowrun Missions, but there does not appear to be anyone in my area (Binghamton, NY) that is interested in playing. I have a convention coming up in November, and would like to run some SM adventures...but I would like to play them first to help build up my confidence in the game first.

I seem to recall reading that online play was going to be a possibility. Has it just been slow getting off the ground? Or have I been at the wrong place at the wrong time and just missed the opportunity?

Posted by: Dark father Aug 29 2004, 08:29 PM

I have already ran 3 online Shadowrun Missions. If you are interrested, find 2 or 3 other players and send me a personnal message.

I was talking to Rich about online SRM and I guess you beat me to it! smile.gif What medium are you using to run SRM? Chat program? Online RPG?

I'm one of the creaters of ArcanisOnline and I'm looking to create a similar online group for SRMs.

Vince

Posted by: TimberWolf Sep 5 2004, 07:38 AM

I'd be interested in online SRM. Being the only one in the area who runs SRM (And dismally. Nobody can get to gether with any regularity, and we've lost so many players...) I don't get to play them much (Or at all, at the moment.). I'd like to.

Posted by: Dark father Sep 6 2004, 11:45 PM

We simply use an instant messaging program (MSN Messenger). To reduce the obvious lacks between a real and an online game, I do a lot of preparation before an online game. Firstly, I type in a file the most important blocks of informations, so when I have to tell the players an important part, I only have to copy paste it in the conversation window. For the maps and files, I take screen shots of the images, and I create image files. To give access to these files, I place them in an encrypted and password-protected page placed on the group website. So when for example a runner gets a map, I give him the URL of the file and a password to access it.

I know that it would be possible to have an unified interface that would allow online games to run greatly. However I know that my online games got great success, with my rudimental techniques. I've been told that the games duplicate well a real life game, so I think it works.

If you want more details on how we do things, feel free to ask!

Posted by: bitrunner Sep 7 2004, 04:59 PM

I'm hoping to offer something in the fall, after things calm down...

right now, i plan on running it similar to Dark Father, although i seem to be steering towards AOL IM since it has the dice-bot...if anyone knows of a dice-bot or other way to roll dice (so that everyone can see) while using MSN Messenger, please let me know.

Posted by: Whizbang Sep 9 2004, 09:28 PM

I was introduced to Shadowrun Missions at Dragon*Con, and had a blast...literally in the case of Demolition Run. Doublecrossed involved alot of thinking, and turned out we were overprepared. Dark and Stormy Night was...stormy. Mental note to establish a meeting place before going to the run site in the middle of the night in the pouring rain, having only met the other runners on the phone line...that's a recipe for friendly fire.

But anyways...I'm hooked. Wish I could have caught Forced Recon, and I look forward to playing more. Having found the modules online...they look simple enough that there may be the potential for me to dabble in GMing for my online friends who can't make it to Cons. smile.gif

Anyways...first time poster...don't shoot me if I put this in the wrong place.

(*runs spellcheck* Shadowrun isn't in the spellchecker? Odd...)

Hi, Rich. Ron, here. wink.gif Thought that I'd take a look in and see how the new "living campaign" was going. Margaret and I are thinking of starting to play (for a change).

Regarding use of AOL IM, I have heard of occasional problems with the dicebot. OpenRPG works pretty well, but I have seen games of various RPGs run in AIM, MSN and OpenRPG. They all work as long as everyone has the gorund rules straight, the ref has a way of getting large text items posted, and there is an etiquette so that the ref doesn't get spammed with private mails.

I just want to say that I never intended for Demolition Run to be that deadly -- I've heard reports of total party kills when playing the module. However, having finally had a chance to run the module myself, I've found that an unprepared team can easily get eaten alive.

Lesson to be learned: ALWAYS DO YOUR LEGWORK! (My team didn't do so, and missed important facts that nearly got one of them killed, had the GM [me] not decided to be nice and fiat the character's survival.)

Posted by: linei Oct 9 2004, 07:22 AM

QUOTE
I just want to say that I never intended for Demolition Run to be that deadly

Having GMed all introductory adventures with the exception of A Fork in Fate's Path I got to say that I had this problem with most of these adventures.

Mission Briefing was safe enough, but Demolition Run almost killed the team before the real run started (they tried to raid one of the delivery trucks). The opposition forces in FORCEd RECON were definitely overwhelming if played out as planned in the scenarios. And A Dark and Stormy Night was exceptionally dangerous with the team barely making it out (carrying an unconscious troll team member all the way).

Granted, all these adventures were that dangerous because the team preferred a fight instead of a stealth approach. That proofed deadly in all SR Missions adventures. I hope they learned their lessons and will do it more professionally next time.

Posted by: Dark father Oct 9 2004, 02:08 PM

For now, I think the deadliest mission was Mission Briefing since the players did their preparation for the next 2 scenarios. But for the first one even a good preparation can't solve everything. One of my players even used his Hand of God to prevent this abrupt death. For Fork, well I ran it yesterday on MSN messenger but a maintenance shutdown happened and we couldn't finish it. An it,d for Stormy Night, I can't wait to see it! I heard so much about it's high level of difficulty!

Odd. As far as I knew, I was the only ShadowRun judge trying to run SRM in the Mid-Michigan area.

Posted by: Donner Oct 15 2004, 02:46 PM

I guess not all people running these things are "Commandos"? I believe that our judge is a Commando.

Posted by: Dark father Oct 15 2004, 02:51 PM

You don't have to be a Commando to run SRM. They are mostly there to help judging events. I really hope that my SRM scenario will be accepted for Commando appliance because I would really like to get scenarios as soon as they are out!

Posted by: the_dunner Oct 17 2004, 09:02 PM

Hey, Timberwolf,

I dropped you an e-mail, but I haven't heard anything back, so maybe it didn't go through. I submitted the event to UCon right at the wire to get into pre-reg.

I'm a Commando based out of Cleveland, OH. However, UCon is one of the cons that I go to most years. (Obviously, this is my first time running SRM there.) I have absolutely no intent to compete with anyone else running missions up in Michigan. If you want to drop me a PM about any future cons in the area, I'd be more than happy to coordinate with you. smile.gif

Posted by: TimberWolf Oct 17 2004, 11:42 PM

Yeah, I forgot to change my e-mail settings. I changed e-mails about mid May, and forgot to update.. I run for CARP (Capitol Area Role Players) based in Lansing, Michigan. We have a monthly game day, and I've been trying to get some SRM run there. Also Foundation Games has a con twice a year and I try to run there. So far, it's hard to get a table together. Most of our Shadowrun players seem to have moved away.

I too hope that they will accept my scenario for Commando status. Need to resend, they lost it, apparently.

Doh! Just realized, I forgot to mention this one:

I'm going to be running Mission Briefing at Warzone Matrix in Cleveland this Saturday (10/23)from 1PM-5PM.

Sorry it's a 5 hour drive, or we'd be happy to play with CARP. wink.gif

Well, we had a few people show up from out of state who used to play. But we're woefully short of players otherwise. Makes it hard to play. But we're enticing a few more players next time we have a chance.

Who's running the Missions at Gencon SoCal?

And, which mission is Harvest Time?

Posted by: Dark father Nov 21 2004, 05:15 AM

I can't answer your first question, but Harvest Time is SRM01-03

Posted by: Dr. Black Nov 21 2004, 07:04 PM

Is there an issue with playing the SRM01 series out of order? I will be playing Harvest Time SRM01-03 at Gencon socal, and I have no opportunities to play SRM01 -01/02 before then. Since they are not yet posted for non Commando's and there is not a commando in my area, I have no choice but to play whatever a GM at a convention is running, even if it would be out of order for my char.

Please advise.

I wrote Harvest Time. The best thing would be to play all scenarios sequentially, but with the format of the campaign, it can be impossible to make sure everyone played scenarios in order. But I look at my scenario and I really think it's possible to play it even if you haven't done SRM01-01 and SRM01-02 before. You won't miss anything, except maybe the background setting of the campaign.

Oh and don't hesitate to post your opinions about the scenario! If people liked it, I might volunteer to create another one!

Greetings everyone.

I apologize for not listing these events sooner, but I had assumed the Commando's involved in Missions would have been keeping everyone up to date.

Since I know woefully few of you who post to this thread, let me introduce myself. I am known as Blitz or Blue depending on where you meet me first and I am the Convention Manager for GenCon SoCal. The following is the planned schedule for Missions games for this year's convention.

The 2nd Annual GenCon SoCal will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on December 2nd - 5th. http://www.gencon.com/socalhome.aspx?file=socal for more information.

Thursday, December 2nd
8:00 am - Noon: A Fork in Fate's Path - GM: Grendel (Commando)
2:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Mission Briefing - GM: Grendel (Commando)
8:00 pm - Midnight: Harvest Time - GM: Ecclesiastes

Friday, December 3rd
8:00 am - Noon: String Attached - GM: Grendel (Commando)
Noon - 4:00 pm: Harvest Time - GM: Blitz
4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Forced RECON - GM: Ecclesiastes

Saturday, December 4th
10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Harvest Time - GM: Blitz
4:00 pm - 8:00 pm: A Fork in Fate's Path - GM: Grendel (Commando)

Sunday, December 5th
10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Mission Briefing - GM: Grendel (Commando)

Also, I would like to strongly recommend the Shadowrun Tournament:
Friday, December 3rd
8:00 pm - Midnight: Part 1

Saturday, December 4th
8:00 pm - Midnight: Part 2

While this is not a "Missions" event, we are highly encouraging as many people to sign up as possible as we are playtesting a new Team vs. Team style tournament where players are divided up into two teams with a single objective. This will be the first opportunity players will have in a Convention setting to play against other players. There is only room for 12 players total so sign up soon!

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or comments!

QUOTE (the_dunner)
Just a pseudo-bump to remind everyone that I'll be running both Mission Briefing and Demolition run next weekend (11/20) at http://www.ucon-gaming.org/ in Ann Arbor, MI.

<<SNIP>>

Just wanted to post some feedback re SR Missions and the scenarios run at Ucon.

I'll do this in three parts: (i) Commando feedback, (ii) the runs, (iii) the system, from a quick exposure.

(i) I wanted to do this first, because perceptions of the Commando can definitely colour perceptions of the scenarios and the system. "the_dunner" is, bar none, one of the best GMs that I have had for any system, or seen representing a line or product. Therefore, some of my perceptions of SRM and/or Fanpro and/or the scenarios may have had a bit of a "healthy glow" spell cast over them.

To clarify, I do not judge such things based upon rulebook knowledge or table results. That said, John was very conversant with all the main rules and could make fair and quick rulings when things came up unexpectedly. At the moment, I am not sure how our tables did, versus how well they could have done, or how well other tables have done in the two intro scenarios we shadowran, and that does not figure into my evaluation. I do intend to download the scenarios and read through them.

I feel that John was a superb "commando" because he represented the company and program professionally, courteously, and with an especial care with new players. We had only three pre-regs, but our first slot filled to 5 and our last one, likely due to word of mouth, was full. In the first slot, John took some time to get the new folk used to basic concepts and ran a quick 10-minute "food-fight" (not part of, and NOT counted as part of the scenario) just to demonstrate the main features of combat. This of course pays dividends for more experienced players, as the new folk do not inadvertently get themselves, or the whole team, killed. wink.gif John also was very willing to handle "in-game concept" questions for the newer players who were unfamiliar with the system, because there would be things that their characters would know about the 6th World that the players didn't. He was also capable of handling this without disturbing the flow of play.

He was firm and fair, allowing everyone a chance to speak and act, and going around the table in nontactical situations first in one direction, next time in the other, so as not to "play favourites".

Very, very well done. Only my opinion, but I've been around for :: cough :: a while. Hang onto this guy. wink.gif

(ii) The runs (no specific spoilers). We played "Mission Briefing" and "Demolition Run", in that order. In the first session, two of us were new to SR Missions but very familiar with the Shadowrun system. Two were new to the system. One had played once before, I think. The GM took that in stride.

Understand that I now speak only as a player, though I will read the missions soon and will comment again if I feel that I change my mind. I am not going to include specific spoilers.

The first scenario seemed nicely set up to let the party encounter a number of different types of problems to solve, and I see how one could simply have cut some encounters if pressed for time, or if the party was running out of resources. I know understand why some people have been posting about TPKs, but I am no longer worried, if other scenarios are like this one, regarding that point. One could easily, easily get the entire party killed-- if one had not listened to the briefing, or had not bothered to listen to the GM after doing some legwork and planning, or had simply presumed oneself immortal due to script. Or just had someonewho played their character as loving large amounts of pointless death. OTOH, if people thought on their feet, had a reasonable distribution of the most common skills, and tried to remain in character and played as if aware of their environment, there was no need for anyone to even get seriously hurt. Again, my limited perception, but it seemed like a fine intro scenario.

Rewards seemed commensurate with the risk, although I personally thought that our team could have, had certain communications been possible, negotiated rather a large bonus for services above and beyond the call of duty. wink.gif Couldn't happen here, but it would have been fun and even an extra thou or two would have made us feel that we got "one-up" on the paramerters of the mission. I might recommend "smart play" bonuses written into future scenarios-- not huge, maybe only 10-20%.

There was drama. worry about possible annihilation, and a great deal of laughter, so I count this one two thumbs up.

Demo run. Very tight, very focussed, potential nail-biter. Again, I could see how the group could runinto a TPK, but legwork and planning did seem to pay off and since we were willing to shell out to contacts and such, we managed to make up for a skill deficit, though at a cost. I DO get the feeling that a type of character not normally encouraged for this type of "living system" could have helped a lot here, but no spoilers.

Oh-- note that, after hearing how rare magically-aware PCs seem likely to be in SR Missions, our two groups were about half magicals, and we were glad of it. wink.gif

Rewards: again, seemed reasonable by the END, except for one caveat that I will post to the questions section. Not really a scenario issue, more a system issue. Without spoilers, I will say that the way that the mission briefing presented the possible threat level, the initial nuyen offered seemed way too low. By that I mean that I had to make a "gamer decision": to continue, rather than a "character decision"-- my character would have thought that the nuyen offered to take on the mission was a joke, even though my character is poor as dirt. wink.gif Nonetheless, Iloved the ability to do a nice long problem-solve on this one, and I think that we nmust have done about as well as possible. The author had a nice laugh at the players' expense in this one, but it was done in the way most likely to make the players happy about it, when they figure it out-- so good job. wink.gif Again, no specifics, sorry.

(iii) The system, after two mods. I enjoy the minimalist mature of Green runs. There seem to be interesting NPCs, but that of course dpendeds a great deal on the GM, too. John could characterise different types very nicely. Without any details, I could literally *see* one named "Rolando", in my mind's eye. Heh. smile.gif

I have a concern regarding lifestyle costs versus cash flow, considering the rate at which one might be able to play scenarios in real life. I'll post that as a question about calendar use, in a different thread. If the campaign year switches over with the real year, there could be a problem (though an easily solved one). If there is leeway between year switchovers in real life, then there is no problem.

One question: would it be legitimate to note "continuity issues" in the special notes section, like if you try to do special favours for people/contacts, etc., and woul;d there be any point in doing so? Could add some depth without complicating mechanics.

Okey dokey -

first, Gencon SoCal...I encourage everyone to participate in all the SR events. We have worked the system for you so that at least at the larger cons, such as Gencon and Origins, there will be little or no overlap in the schedule between Missions events and pregen events / tournaments.

Second, kudos and thanks to Donner for his review of the con, GMs, and adventures...i encourage everyone to do likewise, but try to keep the adventure reviews, whether they contain spoilers or not, to the appropriate thread...

Third, a public shout out / thank you for John for doing such a great job promoting the company, game, and campaign - keep up the good work, and i'll annotate your cookie record with another gold star...

OK, now on the to questions!

Rewards - i'll just say that we use the guidelines in the SRComp as an average starting point - actual awards may be higher/lower depending on the storyline...

also, we try to strike a balance - if you get what you expect is lower pay, that probably (not always!!!) means that the Johnson is willing to a) chip in other non-monetary rewards/benefits and/or b) you'll be able to scrag more "treasure" during the run. if a Johnson is paying you higher than what you would expect, then one of the conditions is probably that he doesn't want you to be picking up any "souvenirs" along the way...

Lifestyle - briefly, you can spend your time any way you want over the year. in january, you cross over to a new year...i'd be willing to give a little leeway on calendar year crossovers during the "middle" year, but when the story arc ends, an accounting will take place and everyone's "books" will need to be in order...

Continuity issues - if we have plans on the backend for certain people to become recurring enemies, contacts, or whatever, then continuity issues as to how they're treated etc will show on the sheet... if you keep buying Billy down the street an ice cream cone every adventure so that he'll become a contact, no, there is no provision for that...

Posted by: the_dunner Nov 23 2004, 12:10 AM

I just want to say thank you to both bitrunner and Donner! embarrassed.gif You're both very kind. It's easy to do a good job of GMing when you've got good players and good scenarios. I was fortunate to have both! smile.gif

Posted by: the_dunner Nov 28 2004, 07:08 AM

I've been in contact with the people running http://www.warhorn.net/mwmadness/, which is in Fort Wayne in January. It's primarily an RPGA Living Campaign show, but they'd be willing to host some SRM if I want to come out. So, consider this a general solicitation -- anyone interested? If so, please drop me a PM or an e-mail.

Fort Wayne is 3.5 hours away for me, and it's in the middle of ski season too. But, if there are players desperately in need of an SRM fix, I can try and work something out. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Donner Nov 28 2004, 05:36 PM

Well, I'd love another SRm fix, but that's more like 8 hours for me, and a non-holiday weekend, so I don't think we can make that one. wink.gif

Will keep trying for another con somewhere in the happy medium. smile.gif

Posted by: Donner Nov 29 2004, 03:45 AM

I've seen a few references to a "Mission Zero", which sounds like one that would precede the 5 intro scenarios? Is there such a beast?

Posted by: bitrunner Nov 29 2004, 04:59 PM

??? Mission Zero???

hmmm, the only thing i can think of would be what we would have called Mission Briefing as a code name before deciding on the new name, and before we decided on having a pack of 5 intros..

OK folks - here's your chance to get out of the cold!!!

Megacon in Orlando FL (www.megaconvention.com) is running Feb 25-27, 2005.

yes, there's other gaming there, and lots of other stuff too - like a smaller DragonCon...but we really only care about the SR Missions stuff, right???

ok, then, here is the paydata:

Shadowrun Missions is the official "living" campaign setting for FanPro's Shadowrun 3rd Edition role playing game. Players must generate a character prior to their first event. If a player does not have a character before the convention, FanPro Commandos will, time permitting, assist in character creation. Pregenerated characters will also be available for those that wish to jump right into the action.

Shadowrun Missions SRM00-03 - FORCEd Recon
The ancient ninja were more than assassins; they were also experts in spying and intel gathering. A new research facility has just been built, and someone wants to get as much paydata on their operations in case future incursions are necessary. Become the modern ninja and name your pay!
Runs: Slot 5 (Friday 2 PM) and Slot 10 (Sunday 9 AM)

Shadowrun Missions SRM00-99 - Pick a Demo
Pick one of several demonstration games of Shadowrun.
Runs: Slot 6 (Friday 7 PM)

Shadowrun Missions SRM00-04 - A Fork in Fate's Path
A fixer presents you with the chance of a lifetime - easy job, great pay. Sounds too good to be true? OK, how about a job with unknown risks, low pay, but the chance to help someone who's in trouble? Not everything is as it seems, but you're probably fragged either way, chummer...you decide your fate!
Runs: Slot 6 (Friday, 7 PM)

Shadowrun Missions SRM01-03 - Harvest Time
The members of an urban tribe are brutally murdered and left for dead. Who could do such a thing? Vampires, ghouls, gangs, or just some crazed lunatic? Nope, a greedy corporation that needs fresh organs! Help recover the evidence before it is destroyed and stop them!
Runs: Slot 8 (Saturday, 2 PM) and Slot 11 (Sunday 2 PM)

Shadowrun Missions SRM01-04 - The Gambler
Premiere Event eek.gif . An opportunity for a payday! Your fixer lets you know that a client is looking for a datasteal - and he's already done some legwork! Get in, get the paydata, and get out, all without leaving a trace or a trail of destruction. Know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.
Runs: Slot 9 (Saturday 7 PM)

We are also going to have an HQ for helping people with character creation, answering questions, teaching basic combat/skills, and providing metagaming opportunities during the con as well...

Oh, and you get a chance to have ME as a GM!! wobble.gif

Posted by: the_dunner Jan 22 2005, 07:20 PM

Note to self: Do NOT attempt to run a game session durnig a Blizzard. frown.gif

Due to crappy weather conditions, I've rescheduled today's event to February 12th.

So, February 12th Noon- 5PM, SRM00-03 FORCEd RECON will be run at:

Warzone Matrix
4704 Rocky River Dr.
Cleveland, OH 44135

CARP will be running the first two ShadowRun Missions (Mission Briefing and Demolition Run) at our February Game Day. Due to scheduling, we may only run one of them (Mission Briefing, probably) Visit http://www.carp-mi.net/ for details and to register as soon as the Feburary data comes up, probably sometime in the first week of Feburary.

CARP (Capital Area Role Players) is based out of Lansing, Michigan.

Marmalade Dog 10 in Kalamazoo, Michigan will be running a SRM event twice. We're still waiting to hear back from bitrunner regarding which event.

CARP will be running SRM00-01, Mission Briefing, on Sunday Feb 27, at Fortress Comics and Games, as part of the CARP Game Day. See my above post for the website. Registration is handled via www.warhorn.net, but you can go through the registration link on the CARP page to it. Show up, folks, we've got a little room left.

I just wanted to poke my head in and say "hi". (and wave to Donner and Timber Wolf). Our club, (http://www.carp-mi.net) is always looking for new campaigns to entertain our players -- and more players for our campaigns!

We've only got three people signed up for Mission Briefing on Sunday Feb 27 (I didn't know there was *anything* but Living Greyhawk at Bashcon), and I'm hoping we can get a couple more.

Location: Fortress Games, 425 Albert, East Lansing, MI 48823 Phone: (517) 333-0435
Date/Time: Noon-5pm, Feb 27, 2005

Now... I just need to make a character!

Good to see you all here, and I hope I'll be able to sit at one of your tables, John. Ron's praise is very high indeed!

ORIGINS / GENCON ALERT!!!

I have been informed by the Convention Coordinator for FanPro that all Shadowrun events, including SR Missions, but excluding the tournament, will be ONE TABLE EACH EVENT!!!

If you are planning on attending Origins (and Gencon), I suggest you immediately register onsite and grab a seat to ensure you get one.

I have given my input on this matter and was overruled.

If you want to ensure you play any SR Missions events at Origins, register now and plan the rest of your schedule accordingly. Six seats are going to go fast...

Looking for a GM or Commando to run Shadowrun Missions, online would be prefered unless you happen to be in Central Florida ( Lake county) in which case normal PnP would probly work out better. I had hoped to attend Megacon but it conflicts with a wedding i'm supposed to attend. Damn the luck. I have played off and on since first edition so, i'm not a complete newb to the game.

Posted by: Casazil Feb 23 2005, 05:13 AM

Too bad your in lake county and not seminole If there were enough of us here maybe we could get bitrunner to run games at sci-fi city lol. all thought that is in orange county

Posted by: the_dunner Feb 23 2005, 03:14 PM

Bitrunner's keeping me running! (Bad Pun intended) I've got another event to schedule, this one up in the Michigan area once more.

I've been asked to run an event at http://www.foundation-games.com/index.php on Saturday April 2nd. So, I'll be running
SRM01-01 Double Cross from 2-6PM.

I plan on arriving at the con in the morning to do some "Introduction to Shadowrun" stuff, and I'll be available to help with any character or metagame questions at that time.

I thought I'd never see something like that announced ...

For us uninitiated ... could you explain what this will be?

Posted by: bitrunner Feb 23 2005, 04:52 PM

no clue - they aren't Missions adventures - just the regular tournament...Gencon has a THREE round tournament...

something tells me you don't want to be "voted off" though.... eek.gif

I'd be interested in online E.O.T.L.F. maybe even a ride to seminole or orange county...i have school and family commitments so, unfortunately i would never be able to commit to a weekly game out of my area. And that's the bummer of it.

Well with things the way they are for me now online it not an option and I have no transportaion.

However hobbegoblin if you have a couple of friends who want to play maybe we can get something set up for say a once a month thing.

Not into running online, but I live in Lakeland (hour away), and could be bribed w/ Papa Johns to travel to Lake County to run: scheduling permitting.

Lakeland you say I lived there for about 10 years.

As to papa's don't know about that but in the past due to my lack of transportation I have offered my cooking services.

Which if we were to do something say once a month I'd have no problem provideing the food.

As to SRM's we could even do them from time to time it would be great if we can make it public.

The local Denny's here in town has a room that can be closed off maybe I can set something up with the management do it on a slow night it makes them business and food and drinks (hehe free refills) are an order away.

Just a thought

Once a month I can't do. I have a LOT of hobbies and soon to have 2 jobs. Also, I'm only interested in runnign SRM mods due to the lack of time I have. And... I'm not crazy about playing ShadowRun in a public place: I try to hide some of my geekier hobbies. I don't wear my Sun Microsystems polo out very often either. But, if you need a GM for some SRM mods in this area, let me know in advance, and I'll see what I can do.

Ahh but the thing is if you want credit for running SRM's it has to be public and advertised tis the rules ya know.

Add to that i'd like to GM them so I can get the credit I am one of the people here who likes the idea of the commando program.

As to once a month that is flexable but it would need to be I would think at least every other month so I and others can run 6 a year.

Posted by: bitrunner Mar 12 2005, 04:02 AM

yes, Commandos get credit for running SRM events in a public venue - that doesn't mean, however, that you have to run them for credit...

also, you don't have to be a Commando to run SRM events - this seems to be an ongoing common misconception.

Maybe SaintHax wishes to run SRM events because he enjoys them and the fact that he doesn't have to come up with stuff on his own (not that he couldn't, but he did mention a time constraint) - he's not a Commando, and he's not doing them for credit - he likes the game, the campaign, and wants to see both of them prosper...the only question is to why SaintHax feels he's hiding the fact that he's a geek - i would think it's pretty evident... biggrin.gif

Hey Bit I have no problem just running them either I have played most of them I was just hopeing to get some people into the game and do it in public area so if someone wanted to run for credit they could that is all.

Now the offer still stands if SaintHax wants to just run and others are willing to come to my place I will be a good host and offer food and drink.

Either way I just want to play your welcome to come too if you can make it oh and put up with me lol.

For those that wish to know I should have no problem hosting 4 to 8 people heck I'll go buy a nice new table you want rectangle or circle?

Have a good size living room too people can just sit and relax on the floor if that is what everyone wants to do the place is flexable and I aim to please seeing people would have to come to me.

Question on the Origins gaming schedule.

There is a running of A Dark & Stormy Night (SRM00-05) listed as going off Sunday at Noon. Is this supposed to mean actually midnight Saturday going to whenever AM Sunday?

I ask because they had the same thing happen last year.

Just wanted to give a heads up, just about all the slots for all Shadowrun Missions events running at Origins 2005 are already SOLDOUT. Most other events are also going quickly.

Are there any chances of getting more play slots opened up at the con?

We're a little tight on judges for Origins. However, I know I'll be working the con on at least Saturday and Sunday. I'll bring my laptop, SRM adventures, and report sheets with me. I can't promise anything, but if I have players, table space, and time, I'll do what I can to accomodate people. smile.gif

Also, at the moment, there's still one Friday 10AM ticket open for "The Gambler". Somebody hurry and snag it! It's a fun event.

Posted by: Mekalus May 16 2005, 01:42 PM

Ok so a quick question about Gen Con. The events listing does not show which mission is which. They are all listed simply as Shadowrun Missions and the description simply reffers me to the Missions webpage which has no info at all. Anyone have the 411 on which one is which so I can sign up efficiently? Thanks chummers your the best!

A tentative event list has just been solicited to the GM crew for GenCon. The final list will be posted to the missions http://www.srrpg.com/missions as soon as it is confirmed.

Posted by: the_dunner May 31 2005, 12:07 PM

GenCon Event listing has now been posted to the srrpg web site.

Two notes:

Harvest Time is listed once as an SR4 event. I do not believe that it will actually BE an SR4 event.

Keys to the Asylum *IS* a Shadowrun Missions event.

There's a problem with SRM01-04?

Posted by: Gamerchick Jun 17 2005, 03:12 AM

The Capital Area Roleplayers http://www.carp-mi.net will be running SRM00-02 : Demolition Run at our June gameday (June 25-26, 2005, Fortress Games, 425 Albert, East Lansing, MI). We'd love to have more people play - right now there are only two people registered to play. As one of them, I want to have enough people that the game will go off!

Hope to see you!

I'll be Running SRM01-04 The Gambler up at Warzone Matrix (Cleveland, OH) on Sunday 7/10 at 1PM.

Posted by: CrystalBlue Jul 5 2005, 03:05 PM

Grrr...I'm guessing all GenCon seats have been taken up already, huh? I couldn't find the event listings on SRRPG, and sifting through the excel spreadsheet of the events list from GenCon got me a little bored.

Posted by: the_dunner Jul 5 2005, 04:10 PM

As of this time, there are a LOT of tickets still available for SRM at GenCons. The FanPro team is running 28 tables of SRM. Five of those are sold out, but 5 of those haven't sold a ticket yet.

I found this list most available by grabbing the excel file from the GenCon indy site, then sorting it by game system, and description. This causes all 28 of the SRM games to clump together. You'll want to refer back to the event listing here:

http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/fanpro/gencon2005.shtml

to find out exactly what adventures are being run in what slots.

For the record, the sold out slots are:
Friday 10AM Keys to the Asylum (01-07)
Saturday 8AM DoubleCross (01-01)
Saturday 1PM (?? It's either Harvest Time or The Gambler. Both are running at this time. One is sold out, the other has sold no tickets.)
Sunday 8AM Strings Attached (01-02)
Sunday 10AM A Fork in Fate's Path (00-04)

I gotta wonder, when did Shadowrunners become morning people?!

when the FanPro guy in charge of scheduling all FanPro stuff decides when to put SRM stuff...

Posted by: the_dunner Jul 11 2005, 12:56 PM

To update anybody who hasn't registered yet, but is still planning to, 3 more events have now sold out.

Friday 8AM: SRM01-05 Walk in the Park
Sunday 12AM: SRM00-05 Dark and Stormy Night
Sunday 12PM: SRM00-03 FORCEd RECON

I'd encourage anyone who's planning to get in an SRM game at GenCon to pre-reg soon. Eight of the 28 tables are now sold out. Another 12 only have 1 or two tickets left.

Yep.... ::Sigh:: Once again it's all scheduled against the D&D Open, which I judge every year.

I live in Hamilton, Ontario. At Gencon last week, I played Shadowrun for the first time since the early 90's, and enjoyed it greatly. Are there any GM's running games within reasonable driving distance of Hamilton interested in another player?

BTW, kudo's to the GM (if he is reading this or not) who ran "Mission Briefing" for us. Well done.

There is a section on this forum for http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showforum=11 in which you might get a a better response for finding people to game with.

You may also consider checking out the http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showforum=9 section where people play games by posting in the forum. New recruitment threads pop up every week or two.

I would like to request that someone do some SR4 at Megacon the biggest con in the south I do belive as I would love to get into SRM's for 4th

http://www.megaconvention.com/

Thanks see ya

Posted by: the_dunner Jan 7 2006, 04:00 AM

MegaCon will have at least 2 SR4 Missions events, possibly more. We have a Commando in the area who has been in touch with the convention.

Posted by: Casazil Jan 7 2006, 05:41 PM

Cool so that means I remake my adept and give him 31 karma then show up and play right?

Posted by: BishopMcQ Jan 7 2006, 05:46 PM

Casazil--There will be a Karma rollover log that you will need to fill out. Be sure to bring all of the old debriefing logs so that they can be verified, and then you will only need to take the Karma Rollover log plus any SR4 debriefs that you get.

I think the roll-over log will be released at some point this month, otherwise your GM should have copies.

Posted by: Casazil Jan 7 2006, 05:52 PM

NP I have everything I am a good player in that aspect I was sure to keep all the stuff I was given.

Posted by: BishopMcQ Feb 6 2006, 04:05 PM

I'll be running Strings Attached and For Whom The Bell Tolls, February 19th at Genesis Games and Gizmos in Redmond WA.
