Dumpshock Forums _ General Gaming _ [ADMIN] Spam

Posted by: Adam Jun 20 2006, 07:44 AM

Yo,

There's been a rash of spam lately, and I'm on vacation and don't have the time nor the inclination to make the changes necessary to block them from registering; it's easier to just delete the posts in the few minutes I spend reading the forums each day.

Please, don't reply to the spam posts. I don't need to see a "admins, please delete this!" post for every spam post. Just let it sit, and I'll see it.

If the spammers change up and start hitting the main Shadowrun forum instead of just General Gaming, I'll look more deeply into it, but I'm on vacation and Dumpshock < Chicago.

Your on vacation in Chicago? Watch out for the bugs LOL! sorry had to say it.

Posted by: Bull Jun 21 2006, 07:07 AM

Christ, just killed another one. Damn spammers :/

Posted by: Adam Jul 8 2006, 01:57 AM

Again: Please, do not reply to the spam posts. It is a waste of your time.

Who do these ads work on, seriously? Or the stupid spam e-mails I keep getting. Who opens up their e-mail from a fakey person with a fakey subject, reads an e-mail full of misspelled words, then follows the link and enters their credit card number to buy prescription drugs!? Who the F&!@? does this work on!?

Posted by: Tanka Jul 10 2006, 07:15 PM

LUSERS.

We tech savvy know better. They don't.

search engines. They bump up the number of sites linked to your page and increase the relevance count.

Yeah, there are several (Pistons, Aristotle, and a couple others) that either aren't on all that much, or simply don't say much anymore. Me and Adam are just the chatty ones.

Posted by: Tanka Jul 31 2006, 03:48 PM

You? Chatty?

Pshaw!

Did anyone realize, that ALL of the SPAM topics come with this --> smile.gif smiley as a symbol? There are still three of them there.

Posted by: FanGirl Aug 18 2006, 03:48 PM

Yeah! And all but the last 2 contain this phrase:

QUOTE
2Admin: Sorry if the message doesn't suit your forum. Kindly ask to move it to an appropriate section. Thank you smile.gif

I smell a conspiracy, drop bear or otherwise.

It's otherwise, Spam is not consistent with a healthy diet of Eucalyptus. I don't think even the mighty Iron Chef of the DBC could successfully use it!

This is just a reminder that replying to spam threads is pointless, except for the brief entertainment value of your post. All spam threads and all posts in them will be deleted as soon as I see them.

You're back! Capitalize my name plz?

But thats fun Adam, I made Critias laugh, I mean he hated me a couple days earlier, then I made him laugh. He might still hate me, but at least he laughed when he was feeling down.

Spam posts could be used to bring the forums together and make everyone love one another again. No opinions and just random additions to a randomly held together topic that can go anywhere as long as it is clean enough to not make you vomit. smile.gif

At least well get some stupid jokes about Tron porn.

You'd probably be surprised. I used to work for a Credit Card company in their fraud department and so many people would try to buy prescription drugs. I had one guy who was pissed that he bought some oxycontin from someone in India. I told him if it was sent it probably got stopped by customs.
He got pissed when I told him there was nothing we could do.
He asked why there was nothing we could do.
I told him that shipping Oxycontin overseas without a prescription was illegal and we couldn't get his money back because he was trying to illegally get drugs delivered to him. After a silent pause, he hung up.
