Dumpshock Forums _ General Gaming _ UFC 81: Breaking Point

It looks like it will be interesting. I wonder if Lesnar can handle MMA. Anyone planning to watch?

"At UFC 81, former UFC® heavyweight champion Frank Mir will put wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar to the ultimate test, as Lesnar makes his move from the squared circle into the Octagon™ to prove that he is for real."

Brock looked good but ended up losing to a knee lock. He allmost finished it in the in he first minute.
He definitly needs to work on submision defence. All in all, good show but too quick.

Just a note, this wasn't Brock's first sanctioned MMA bought: He fought and beat Min Soo Kim at a K1-Dynamite show in LA in under two minutes, June 2007.

So weird seeing you respond to something outside of your official personage, Adam. That said, I think submission defense is probably the hardest thing to learn, but I might be weird. I'm good at striking, blocking, and my mass makes me good at grappling(in a strictly incredibly amateur way- please do not think I'm comparing myself to these MMA professionals)and all those things are pretty instinctive with me, but for some reason I have to really work at submission defense.

Ack -- I meant June *2007* -- duh.

I don't think it's so strange that submission defense is the hardest thing to learn -- nobody instinctively tries to lock on a triangle choke in a schoolyard or bar fight, after all. Well, maybe they do *now* ...

[Disclaimer: no martial arts training. Also, this thread is totally off topic and never was on topic. It's a good thing it's about my favorite non-gaming subject; the other admins might smack us down, though.]

I can remember renting #2 with my dad when I was a kid. I think. It was MMA of some sort, I think UFC.

Heh ... things have sure changed since those days. The sport has evolved a lot, and is much more refined and interesting.

Come on kids, you're hurting our heads here. We need you to make at least some lame attempt at relating this to gaming in some way. At least one Aztechnology fighting pit deathmatch dissertation or Fung Shui rules argument please...

I thought Brock's new chest tatoo was pretty stupid. How drunk, messed up on drugs was he that day ??
