Looks like a high budget 2 hour episode. In other words, perfect.

Posted by: nezumi Apr 26 2005, 06:35 PM

I WILL SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

Wow, that looks super cool. It really looks like they didn't compromise anything in getting that out.

That said, it has nothing to do with shadowrun ; )

Posted by: Nikoli Apr 26 2005, 09:25 PM

Awesome

Posted by: Schism Apr 26 2005, 10:03 PM

Hell yeah! I just can't seem to get tired of movies with girls whoop'n ass! Thanks for the saliva, Backgammon.

Posted by: Shadow Apr 26 2005, 11:14 PM

You beat me to posting it Back. It looks like it is gonna be great!

Posted by: nezumi Apr 27 2005, 03:15 PM

Two quick notes -

Book doesn't appear in the trailer. I *HEARD* he's in the movie from a friend of a friend, but as it stands...

Secondly, I'm sorry, River does well as the lost little girl, but as the ninja-monster, she really doesn't do it for me. She still seems too... soft, detached without being robotic.

Posted by: Nikoli Apr 27 2005, 04:58 PM

I think that may be the point.

I'll never forget how she fixed the Preachers book.

"I am so going to the Special Hell."

Posted by: Nikoli Apr 27 2005, 05:44 PM

Another great line.

"Also, I can kill you with my mind."

Whedon is one of the mosy quotable writers in any medium (TV, Movies, or Comics).

There is going to be a Serenity comic book prequel in July

Jane is the best.

Posted by: Nikoli Apr 28 2005, 01:33 AM

Jane, who hasn't wanted or attempted to create a Sam based on him?

Posted by: Pthgar Apr 28 2005, 02:30 AM

Wanted to, and done it.

Posted by: Backgammon Apr 28 2005, 03:05 AM

I have a player that isn't trying to be Jane, but he SOOO is, it's uncanny.

Posted by: Bull Apr 28 2005, 06:23 AM

Ron glass, who plays book, is credited on IMDB and other sources as being in the movie, plus Joss said he'd never do the movie unless he got the full cast back.

And I've heard (But been unable to check yet) that he's in one of the teaser pics on the Serenity movie site.

I'm thinking this is a trick? I don't see Seinfeld or Kramer anywere?

This is "Serenity Now" the movie right?

Posted by: Erebus Apr 29 2005, 06:42 PM

Rockin!

They always cancel my favorite shows.... Brimstone... Firefly... At least this time around I get a movie.

Two by Two, Hands of Blue....

Posted by: Nikoli Apr 29 2005, 07:48 PM

Mmmm, Brimstone. Great show.

It ain't Jane. It is somehting like Jayne, or Jayn. I forget.

Now don't you go messing with a man's name.

Posted by: Little Bill Apr 29 2005, 10:19 PM

Jayne: Well, as a rule I say girlfolk ain't to be trusted.
River: Jayne is a girl's name.
Jayne: Well, Jayne ain't a girl! If she starts in on that girl's name thing, I'll show her good and all I got man parts.

in defence:

she does look like she's kinda out of place when that fight sequence starts...she's kicking people and she has this look like "Ta ma duh!"...and her moves make it look kinda forced at first...like she's out of practice/never done it before. then, as the trailer goes on and the fight continues, she begins to flow more like it's all "coming back" to her.

she's not meant to be a ninja and she doesn't look like she accepts it well...she simply 'can' do it (kinda like 1st level amnisa...you just 'know' you know how to use your active skills...you just don't know why/how you learned them)

What did he write besides the Buffy TV show?

Posted by: Nikoli May 19 2005, 02:50 AM

Joss did Angel (shocker there)

Posted by: Pthgar May 19 2005, 01:17 PM

He ia also writing The Ashtonishing X-Men, one of the best monthly comics being produced. Even if you don't like the X-crew, Whedonjust writes good stories.

Kitty (after discovering Colussus in the sub-sub basement of a top secret facility after he had been thought dead for years.):
"You have to know that if you are a clone or a robot or, yeah, a ghost or an alternate universe thingie I can deal. But if you are some shapeshifter or illusionist who's just watching me twist I will kill you I will kill you with an axe so right away..."

Woot!

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=31260

This means that if the movie does well it will be Sc-Fi who has the rights to make the show again. They were a lot more likely to do it than Fox was. Of course they fubared Battlestar and canceled farscape, but heck, they are doing SG-1 well smile.gif

Posted by: Pthgar Jun 16 2005, 12:18 AM

Sa-weet! This assures that my T.V. will be on Sci-Fi Channel for four solid hours on fridays. I can't believe they are putting FF on their big night. That makes it seem like they already have plans to pick it up if the movie does well. I am in geek heaven right now.

My wife is going to flip out. FF and the new BSG are her two favourite shows to air in like the last 5 years.

Posted by: Nerbert Jun 16 2005, 01:55 AM

Joss is a genius

Ooh ooh! new BSG in July! *psyched*

You know I have heard of that, but never read it. Very funny. My hope is that Sci Fi picks up Firefly if the movie is successful. My fear is they will but Jos will be to busy with the http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451279/ movie to do it.

funny side note about WW. It was written by a Psychologist who lived with two woman and had children with both.

Posted by: fionn Jun 27 2005, 08:35 AM

Firefly SR? has potential. I mean the core planets are more tech than SR and there are SOO many rocks out there to run to and from.

Posted by: fionn Jun 27 2005, 08:36 AM

Understanding is that syndication is a no. I don; think the actors are interested in that., such is my understanding, I may of course be incorrect.

Posted by: Shadow Jun 28 2005, 05:07 PM

Well Sci-Fi owns the rights now. So unles they sell them to someone else, any new show will be on Sci-Fi.

Posted by: apollo124 Jul 11 2005, 03:06 PM

Just a quick note about how "Serenity/Firefly" fits into a SR discussion.

Watch the episode "The Train Job" and tell me that this ain't how a shadowrun goes. Team gets notice of a job.
Meets with disreputable fixer.
Infiltrates train bearing cargo.
Rigger flys overhead while lowering psycho gunman down to pick up cargo.
Runners get nabbed by "the Star" before escaping.
Runners find out fixer didn't tell the whole deal about cargo.
"The Face" cons her way in to release the aforementioned nabbed runners.

etc...

And you can do that with most of the episodes of "Firefly". IMO if you want to see runs done on the tv screen, buy the DVD set and sit down for some western/chinese/outer space adventure.

"Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die!"

that's my second favorite, right next to the speach about the special hell for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

My Favorite scene was in train robbery when he kicked that guy into the turbine...

Posted by: weblife Jul 12 2005, 11:32 AM

Hehe, that guy had it coming. biggrin.gif

The good captains ethics are a bit blurry. He also shot the cop in the back, just because it was faster/safer.

Posted by: Nikoli Jul 12 2005, 02:52 PM

Second favorite is "Aw, I'm goin to that 'Special Hell'."
