AR is still to computer intensive. to get that working, we have to have a system that can poinpoint its own posision and interpet in real-time the amount of space that the user can see.
then it have to place the AR elements inside all that data.
we cant even make bots that can play FPS games (atleast in any fashion close to "good") without the need of navigational points, and thats in a virtual space where the whole map is in theory known...
