hmm, it failed for some reason. maybe just have it like a normal url...

Posted by: Austere Emancipator Jun 3 2006, 12:45 PM

This forum doesn't allow [img] tags, and automatically puts [url] tags over anything that begins with http:// and shortens the visible link if it's particularly long.

hmm, figures.

maybe they should have it strip out those img tags to then, so that we dont get errors like the one above (having to manualy edit the url before visiting it.

or better yet, have it just replace the img tags with url tags...

Posted by: Demonseed Elite Jun 3 2006, 04:53 PM

ahahaha, brilliant new Mage/Penny Arcade connection.

Posted by: Austere Emancipator Jun 3 2006, 04:53 PM

The only problem is that it doesn't automatically put [url] tags on urls, even if they've got http:// on, if they're already inside [img]s.

Seriously though, how many times in the history of this forum have you seen someone trying to use [img] tags? Twice? Thrice?

Posted by: hobgoblin Jun 3 2006, 06:04 PM

heh, i think maybe this is the first.

Actually that second one, if you look at the enlarged version of it, like the sample http://geocities.com/sr_spyke/el.jpg, the woman on the left looks elvish while the other looks human. It could just be the angles, but I have had more people say its an elf and a human than two elves.

Might be they're trying to breed inter-racial bisexuality or lesbianism so it's not just for the elves anymore. wink.gif

Her nipples were described in a book and most male gamers can't forget the word nipple, long after it's been played out. Kinda like an SR version of "All your base are belong to us." smile.gif

"Nadja Daviar has luscious gams" is mentioned in shadowtalk for one of the books (I can't remember which) as being the password to access some hidden Matrix node.

On a slightly related note...

I honestly feel sorry for you because either you really do feel that way, or you think it makes you look cool to project that image. Either one is pretty sad.

Can't see that image and don't want to sign up with Flickr, so can you please post it elsewhere?

Posted by: FanGirl Jul 23 2006, 02:11 AM

I was able to see the picture SL made earlier - it's a poster of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious from the Star Wars films.

The more I think about it, the better I feel the comparison between SL James and Oscar the Grouch is. I didn't even make the connection until I did an image search for the word "grouch" and got a bunch of pictures of Oscar. But now the idea is cemented in my head: whenever I read SL's posts, all I can see in my mind's eye is Oscar, sitting up in his trashcan as he types away at an old desktop computer.

Posted by: SL James Jul 23 2006, 02:15 PM

Yeah, although I think he's finally realizing that just because a bunch of users on a web forum think his fiction is better than the official stuff Privateer Press pays someone to write that writing fanfic is for suckers because a) he's not getting paid for it, b) he's not getting any real publication credit, and c) he's stuck in someone else's universe.

I mean, he's known it for a while. But I think it's inevitable that he will give it up as nothing more than mental masturbation.

As far as Shadowrun goes he pretty much doesn't care about the game anymore.

Posted by: Grinder Jul 23 2006, 11:21 PM

Imo writing fanfic can be a good way to introduce you to the movers and shakers of a rpg, especially when you post that fiction in a forum frequented by members of that company. I did so and got the chance to work with the RedBrick-guys which turned out really well and earned me my first writing credits.
You have to start somewhere.

Critias told me that he simply isn't interested in SR anymore. Too bad, he had some nice ideas and his own speical view on the game. But priorites change.

Posted by: SL James Jul 24 2006, 02:21 AM

It has its utility... to a point. When you've written hundreds of pieces, megabytes of pure text, for years without anything to really show for it... That's just proof that you are an idiot.

Posted by: Grinder Jul 24 2006, 05:18 PM

Everyone needs a hobby. wink.gif

I see your pont, but sometimes you just need to be patient and annoy the guys in charge a bit. Or, yeah, move on and try it in a different genre/game.

*appears in a puff of smoke*

Howdy all. My name got said three times in one thread, so I got summoned. Might've noticed, but I slipped back into posting on a few threads again, last night. My counselor calls it "backsliding into destructive habits," and is none too pleased with me, but... I kid, I kid!

I just haven't been in much of a Shadowrun mood lately, to be honest. Nothing in particular I feel like typing up the essay required to pin down, but the mix of mojo and machine just hasn't been pushing my buttons lately. Burn out over SR4 (and the ensuing arguments) probably didn't help. I got more interested in Warmachine for a bit (my fanfic thread over there currently has over 13k hits, which is kind of an ego boost while, simultaneously, I'm frustrated they keep not accepting submissions for new fiction, even for their magazine), but I dunno. Somethin' just had me not in too Shadowrunny a mood.

I'll be at Gencon (nothing SR related, in particular), though, and might go back to lurking here and there a bit. I'm not dead or anything.

Not that hard, I figured it out. Of course I don't think that guy really wants to use it he made a big long rant about his posters were non-conformist and that made him better than everyone who was trying to play along.

Not in an easily accessible format. They aren't all SR related (heck they aren't all that good either) but they were fun to make.

Meh. Most of my hate's dribbled away (or, rather, balled up deep inside), and I'm pretty much just full of apathy, lately. Funny you should ask. I had to check Cannon Companion since it looked familiar (especially the sword), and lo and behold, it's on page 9. Actually, it is page 9.

I keep all the people who have Flickr accounts bookmarked so I can save the full-sized posters. Some of my favorites are

Do play around with the various Motivator settings, too. There are various font types and minor style things that you can do. Also, do note that you may have to crop or alter an image before you put it into the Motivator, or else it will do it for you (there are also focus options, so that you can sort of crop it without actually cropping it).

CrimsonDude has been a DSer in the past and might still be.

CrimsonDude has posted on DSF within the last 24 hours.

Such is the curious nature of the Internet.

Scary! biggrin.gif

Here ya go, emo. This should make you feel good. Did you know you were http://forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=6387400&postcount=8544?

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 02:00 PM

I wonder who he/she is.

Posted by: James McMurray Oct 5 2006, 02:07 PM

Someone who doesn't understand the meaning of the word "universal"?

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 02:08 PM

Thank you.

Do you like me enough to help me hunt down and kill her/him?

Incidentally, I'm thinking of posting on that forum as EMO SAMURAI and ambushing him/her.

Posted by: James McMurray Oct 5 2006, 02:21 PM

I'm way to lazy to hunt someone down and kill them.

Whatever you do, don't post as EMO SAMURAI unless your intention is to look like an immature attention whore whining because someone doesn't like you. Posting as emo samurai would work better. Also, RPG.net has a much tougher moderator staff than dumpshock, so expect to get banned very quickly if you aren't calm and polite. Even with that you may get told to take it to PM.

All that said, hop to it! I need my entertainment. smile.gif

And I posted this before your advice to make my name lower-case.

Posted by: Critias Oct 5 2006, 02:49 PM

Yeah, posting your email there was real smart.

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 02:51 PM

I can always filter.

Posted by: krayola red Oct 5 2006, 03:56 PM

Well, there goes my efforts to put this thread back on its track of awesomeness instead of continuing on the derail of more emo-bashing. Why do I even bother? wink.gif

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 04:00 PM

Nobody's really bashing me; they're just alerting me to bashing on another forum.

Posted by: krayola red Oct 5 2006, 04:10 PM

Meh, posts that emo-bash, posts about emo-bashing...'s all the same. By the way, I think you looked more crisp with your name in lower case.

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 04:11 PM

People keep telling me that. It's not amusing me as much as I thought it would.

Posted by: PBTHHHHT Oct 5 2006, 05:35 PM

Well, it's not supposed to be amusing. It's just that your name looks a lot better lower case. In large caps, my mind just thinks 'bleh' with the name.

edit: The irony being my own user name is all caps. nyahnyah.gif

Posted by: emo samurai Oct 5 2006, 09:03 PM

No, I mean the all-caps. It's not amusing me that much. That means death to all caps.

Yah, but yours works. It's sort of like something you'd see in a comic book as one of those action words.

...reminds me of the original KK from my SR1 days who actually did go "lead hose crazy" during a fight with an MMG she "acquired".

Gotta love that old all encompassing Firearms skill.

...Leela will agree. Just give her a few Kilos of C-12, encrypted radio detanators tied into her trasnducer/tranceiver link and sit back to watch the fireworks.
