Dumpshock Forums _ Shadowrun _ Shadowrunrpg.com Down?

Posted by: OneSeventeen Aug 6 2007, 02:13 PM

Has anyone else tried to go to the SR homepage and gotten redirected to here: http://www.f-shop.de/index.php?sid=&orghost=www.shadowrunrpg.com

Very... very strange. I guess that means there's not an update for me to read, but... still.

Yeah, it's down. That link goes to FanPro Germany's e-store. I'm not sure what's going on, but I've e-mailed the folks who can figure it out.

It's not just you. I was trying to go there for at least the last two hours.

http://shadowrunrpg.com got me to the Catalyst site.

http://srrpg.com redirected me to the German site.

Just a hunch, but they're probably in the process of changing DNS ownership and something went screwy. Happens, especially when it's not easy for their respective tech guys to talk one-on-one; the time difference is probably the biggest issue.

That different people in different areas are resolving the domain to different IPs definitely points to the aforementioned DNS issue.

Both sites link to the german F-Shop for me.

Posted by: Adam Aug 6 2007, 06:13 PM

Workin' on it. Might be awhile due to the time difference.

Well, that would explain why my eMail question wan't answered. wink.gif

Shadowrunrpg.com is only the first to be taken over by the krauts! Don't you see that we're next?! This is just like Poland all over again. biggrin.gif

What on Earth is so important you've spent two hours trying to get there?

You apparently haven't found the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blipvert embedded on the site yet. They're very, very addicting. wink.gif

Back in the days, we had been faster. Blitzkrieg and all that... nyahnyah.gif

That's because all the real money is in dragging the war out for years.

Next stop on the gravy train, Iran.com!

Well, that was just a test run of the Nanosecond Buyout. Pay no attention! Move along!

Posted by: coolgrafix Aug 8 2007, 05:57 PM

Ok, now I'm curious. Any info on exactly what happened?

Posted by: stevebugge Aug 8 2007, 06:32 PM

They got a new admin, some character named D. Gavillan or something like that. Guess he's not too good, crashed the server, lost the webpage, and got the backup corrupted by a virus all on his first day.

Holy fucking shit. You have got to be kidding me. For real?

Sorry; I had to borrow it to take care of some annoyances over on a yahoo group I moderate.

Aha. It was misspelled, which explains why my searches for "Gavillan" were fruitless. I did attempt to determine a ruse. =)

So, back to the question, though. What's up with the site? No, seriously. =)

Posted by: stevebugge Aug 9 2007, 09:52 PM

If I'd spelled it right the first time it would have been far to easy to get wink.gif
