Well i would do a poll but i can't find the option, so here goes.
I've not got all from the books, So if i've missed your favourite feel free to add.
Fast jack. Cos he is that good
Dodger. The "Lost" knight
Slamm-O. The little puke
Smilling Bandit. The genetically engineered vat grow Scientist
Slivery K. Your key to the Nexus
Grid Reaper. "Can you pass me a leg from the fridge please?"
Red Wraith. "I can see clearly now my brain has gone"
Pax. "If you pick her there's something wrong with you and you should get yourself checked"
Captain Chaos. "What happen to those 20 mins of my life?"
Rache Bartmoss. "The complete Psyhco"
Spider murphy. The above's side kick
For me it's Fast jack, Though Slamm-O has a place in my heart, So i can beat him unconcious with my complexes froms.

I prolly like Pyramid Watcher the best, dungeoncrawling Azzie LTGs for secrets and information, but FastJack gets the "coolest persona" reward.

I like the Grid Reaper just because he has style, a cool name, and an interesting background.
The one I hate the most is Fastjack, and only partially because he has one of the stupidest names I've ever heard of for a decker.

Fastjack, Captain Chaos and Dodger need to be retired from canon. They have been around too long to maintain an edge. Age penalties for Reaction anyone?
Slamm-O shows the most promise currently, as Ronin, and Red Wraith are afflicted by munchkinnyness. Pax is an otaku and they are not deckers.

FastJack and Captain Chaos don't need an edge. They've programmed their way to invulnerability. It doesn't matter how much faster you are than someone if they hit you with a rating 14+ Black Hammer and you can't touch them.
As for Dodger, as stated previously he's a good but not great decker whose girlfriend is an AI. No more edge is needed; that'll last him until his death, even if there's a long period of senility there.

Well we could argue about this until the orbital cows come home so I'll offer
another gripe: I'm tired of Fastjack and bored to tears by the once anarchist now
boring elder-lecturer Captain Chaos. High time for some new blood IMO.

Hey, I've been reading the old coot's Shadowfiles since SR1 too.
It's time to send him off to pasture or a tropical island somewhere and get a new
sysop that doesn't sound like a middle-school teacher. Captain 'Chaos' - bah! -
more like Captain Cautionary Note.
As for Fastjack, why would anyone as successful as him/her remain in the biz?
Then it hits me - poor Jack is truly addicted to the matrix - he can't stay out - all those years online have affected him deeply - maybe at a fundamental level - elderly otaku anyone?

Since Reaction in the Matrix (when using hot assist) is based entirely on Intelligence, why would there be any age penalties?
I think y'all underestimate Dodger's abilities.
Fastjack definitely has the Matrix Addiction Flaw.
I like Cap'n Chaos, but could do without Bash.

I've had this little fantasy about a sourcebook beginning with the announcement of Cap's death; He was an ork and died of old age roughly 40-50 years old. This announcement, together with some information about the good Cap and his life is brought to the reader by some highly competent, if a bit green, youngblood. This person has been Caps apprentice/assistant for a few years and now unexpectedly finds him/herself "CEO" of Shadowland.

Umm... Dodger is an elf, he was born in 1998(ish), that makes him 65, thats equivalent to around a human age of 25.

No he wasn't involved with Echo Mirage. And he isn't Damian Knight either.

We don't know if he was involved in Echo Mirage or not, but he is pushing 70 these days. Then again, Cap'n Crunch, Emmanuel Goldstien, and Bernie S are all still around doing the hacker thing and they're all in their 30s at least, with the good Cap'n in his 40s. Good phreaks never die, they just become crabby when l33t 5p34k3rZ r 4r0uNd.
My favorites in order are Fastjack (I've been a fan of his since before he was Billy Bad-Ass and just another decker on Shadowland) and Smiling Bandit ("Just don't breathe on me!"). Captain Chaos is cool as hell, but he is getting old. Maybe replace him as SysOp but keep him around. I see him semi-retiring but no giving up the game or getting taken out.
Least favorite decker? Michael Surehand. That guy got on my last damn nerve through the entire book of Nosferatu...

My top three are FastJack, SilveryK and Grid Reaper. Mostly because I like each of their individual styles a great deal.
Oh, and as far as FastJack's age? A little leonization probably goes a long way for him.

I like Rache Bartmoss, but that's b/c of what he's like in CP2020. Due to unending paranoia, he's been frozen in a cryofreezer, not trusting anyone to come free him. He hacks with the equivelant of a 9600 baud modem, his brain is slowed down so much, and he still stands on even footing with the best netrunners in the world. That wins in my book for style, skill, and outright balls.

Such panache! Such style! Such a generally untouchable air of mystique!
I mean, really - how much information is there on SB's ability to deck, in a concrete way? Next to none. Now that's a damn decker.
He's the best. In Shadowrun, anyway.
Rache Bartmoss is still king, though. You should all read Rache Bartmoss's Guide to the Net, even if you don't play cyberpunk 2020. Hilarity. Too crazy to live, too wierd to die.

Hrm, I suppose no one remembers SYSephan OPus, who was the sysop of Shadowland *before* Captain Chaos (see Corporate Shadowfiles) -- although I suppose he could have just been a representation for the editorial staff.
As for the coolest....well, probably Fastjack. Although I am disappointed the decker I took my handle from hasn't shown up much at all since she did the corporate profiles for Shadowfiles. Gotta love the pic of her on the cover.

Although there are rumors in canon about him being associated with Echo Mirage, it has been stated in several places by people that should know that this isn't the case.

By that logic, so is RedWraith (read Psychotrope).
If we're gonna take the munchkin-deckers to the max, take Leonardo. Immortal Elf Otaku (sort of), crazy to boot, takes on Megas at their own game (GDs too)... and he almost beat 'em. Too bad Lofwyr had to poison him before RA:S.
Babel is kinda cool too, but there's another otaku. But for all-time, bad-ass, otaku, i'd have to go with Pax... "Eat dissonance, slitch!"
The arguements that the Cap is getting too old for the game are completely bogus. Perhaps they're keeping him around for novelty's sake. Take the ancient CEOs of the day who are still in charge because without them the company would fold. While Shadowland doesn't have that problem (being cellular in nature), the Cap is still a pretty good figurehead, even if he still serves a useful purpose. Besides, the Cap KNOWS people and they know him.
As for my personal Fave? FastJack and Dodger would have to have it out for me to decide. And Morgan would have to sit out.

For those Cp2020 fans. I didn't include Alt because i consisder her more of a programer than a decker. Oh and you know Rache is dead don't you (inCP2020 at least) He died at the end of Storm Front.
And if your wanting my opinion on the other deckers on my list, i've already given it. Tho i did miss and have a real soft spot for Syzygy, fading tho she is.

Michael Sutherland. And yes, any decker who gets to pick which one of his Fairlight Excaliburs he wants to take on a particular run should be shot on sight...

As for my favorites, I must admit that Jack the Ripper as presented in the Whitechapel Rose chapter of Into the Shadows was a wondrous character, and the method in which it was written definitely got me more interested in deckers. Fastjack has a certain "I am an elder God, fear me" kind of appeal. And then, there's perhaps the first... Case, of Gibson fame, even though he never existed in the SR universe.

You sure? because as i understand it you (as the ref) kill him in front of the players at the end of storm front. Rache's guide to the net was out way before the firestorm series by like 5+ years!
CP2030?? wasn't that the play test title for Cybergeneration? in which rache is alive but thats because cyber gen is a stand alone game that was out before the firetsorm series as well.
But thats the last im talking about it here. Pm me if your wanting to continue.

FastJack - the one and only. Maybe it's his style, maybe it's the fact that he was born in the previous century and IS NOT an elf or a dragon... maybe it's just because he has a macintosh processor in his deck 
The Smiling Bandit - Skill, knowledge and style all wrapped up in one neet package.
Dodger - I may not dig that ebony boy icon of his, but the Knightly quest to save his Damsel in Distress Megaera, as well as his stormy past, definately put him among the top five. Add his flamboyant personality to that, and he's #3

Don't know about the spelling, "Burukurmin" or some such
The fat decker's name is Porky Pryne (as in "Hester", if you savvy) and his icon looked like "an anthropomorphic hedgehog". Don't remember the other guy's name or icon, though. I don't have the book here and haven't read it in years...
Oh yeah, I like the Dodger. Made me want to play a decker...then the rules changed my mind right quick.

Burakumin. Taken from, I believe, the Indian (subcontinent, not Amerind) (?) language, indicating a lower caste of people who primarily dealt with the dead. Abbreviated in the British slang of "burkingmen".
I have that book in my bookcase, and it's one of my favorites. <quietly puts away geek credentials and slinks off>

It seems to me that cap't just drones these days. "Hey, I was bored, so I had this guy and this guy and this guy put together some stuff on a loose topic. Remember to play nice."
I mean, granted, he has seniority, and he has all kinds of other things going for him, but for God's sake, this is supposed to be a node of (sometimes high-class) lowlifes and criminals. Give me someone with a sharp wit and tongue, a fire in his belly, and the ability and willingness to actually go out and *do* something every once in a while. My vote: Put Slamm-O in charge. He's green (sorta), and he's a punk, and he's got no respect, and that's exactly what Shadowland needs. I love the cap for everything he's given me, and I wouldn't mind seeing him kick around still, but PUT SLAMM-O IN CHARGE.
Imma put that in my .sig. Anyone who thinks similarly, please also do so. Maybe we can convince the right people to PUT SLAMM-O IN CHARGE!

I like Slamm-O, but even I'd hate to see that happen. Shadowland's sys-op has to have at least a bare minimum of restraint and responsibility.

Put Slamm-O in charge? yeah and then inside the first week have a load off Otaku crash Shadowland cos he desided to ban them. Good move.
