It appears the Russian Federal Security Service inserted a deep cover mole at Microsoft's Redmond headquarters.

I imagine he originally applied as a maintenance technician, but they slapped him into QA when they saw he had relevant experience.

Hell, I'm amazed he didn't defect under that kind of torture.
