Dumpshock Forums _ Shadowrun _ Foci in the Real versus Warding

Posted by: Sharkman Jul 21 2010, 03:01 PM

If a mage has foci on his person and is walking into a facility with his foci active...and doesn't bother to check the astral and hits a ward....or tries to pass through a ward?

What happens? How does this work?

Mage gets to roll Cha+Magic vs Ward Force*2. If the mage wins, he gets to pass the ward, if he loses, he passes too, but his foci deactivate. Either way, the mage who created the ward knows about the attempt to pass his ward.

This is discussed in the rulebook, but I'm away from it, from memory though: no the mage doesn't roll cha+magic, in fact if the mage isn't astrally perceiving he passes through the ward effortlessly. The Foci has to roll 2x Force vs. the barriers 2x Force and quickened spells and anchored spells do the same modified by the karma spent on them

If the mage is astrally perceiving or dual natured then yes he, too, and if he loses he's knocked unconscious.
