Some Autosoft are listed as having (Rating 1-3), other only (Rating).
It would seem to me that the first group can only have 3 "levels", while the second... can have 6 "levels"? (With a cost split for rating 1-3 and 4-6)

That's right. I'm not sure about the split cost, just consult the book.

As far as autosofts go in 4thAnniversary, up to rating 3 they cost rating x 500, and past rating 3 they cost rating x 1000. Their max rating is 4.

Yes, that means autosoft prices were bumped up from 200/500 as a stealth change.

Basically, getting a max rating autosoft is expensive.

Right, the page reference for Udoshi's info is SR4A, p232. It lists 'Autosoft (1-4)' for the row.

WOW almost invisibile (maybe they could have specified in the text description that the maximum was 4!)
