And the Cola Wars thing at the end gives me so many ideas for Shadowruns... Red Vs. Blue, baby!
How old is this article? I'm pretty sure "Pepsi Retro" is the same thing as "Pepsi Throwback" (although I prefer Mountain Dew Throwback. When it comes to Cola I like Red.) which you most certainly CAN get here.
edit: Apparently I just needed to look at the link. Although you could get Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback for much of last year as well they must have written this either before it was offered or during one of the periods while it was off the market while they got feed back on what used to be a limited time product.
...then there is Jones Soda HQ'd in of all places, Seattle which offered a number of bizarre flavours like:
Mashed Potatoes with Butter
Turkey and Gravy
Tofurky and Gravy (for the vegetarian crowd)
Bacon
Latke
Christmas Ham
Sweet Potato
Salmon Pâté
Brussels Sprout with Prosciutto
Sports Cream
Black Cat Licorice
Antacid
They even offered a limited edition collection themed after "that other game" which were basically relabellings of several of their "normal" flavours (yeah, as if Blue Bubblegum can be considered "normal").
Hey maybe we can get them to do a Shadowrun themed collection:
Nukitburger
Soycaff
Buzz Cola
Acid Rain
Choco Tart
...and of course:
NERPS
Still no Nuka Cola.
Soylant Green Cola is made by people, for people, from people!
Soylant Green Cola: Made from the best stuff on earth...people!
"So, what does Soylant Green Cola taste like?" "Meh, it varies from person to person."
Can't... breathe!
Thank you, I'm here all week, try the veal!
Funny enough, one of the character in the superhero anime Tiger & Bunny (the setup for the series seems almost SR LA like, as the superheroes try to win points in a tv show while doing heroic deeds around the city) is a walking billboard for "Pepsi NEX", complete with a half time in-show ad performance.
Monkeybread....
Actually, I didn't get either one. And I'm not young by any reckoning, so I guess "Philistine" would fit better than "kid" for me.
I actually tried Pepsi Shiso when I was in Japan summer of 09. It tasted slightly minty and was surprisingly refreshing.
As if Japan is not weird enough already, it seems like some kind of soda test bed:
