Dumpshock Forums _ Shadowrun _ Pink Mohawk custom rules?

Posted by: Elfenlied Aug 1 2011, 12:19 PM

Hi all,
we've all been playing pink mohawk games at some point in SR, or at least yearned to. Now, as we all now, pink mohawk deviates from standard SR in the fact that the Rule of Awesomeness should always trump common sense.

That said, what are your custom rules for it? Mine are the following:
-Cyberware scanners don't exist outside of medical facilities
-SIN scanners have to beat the rating of the fake SIN as a threshold
-We play in LA nyahnyah.gif
-Healing, whether by medikit or spell, is instantaneous
-Rocket Jump: As a complex action, detonate an explosive at your position. Everyone around you, including yourself, takes the damage of the explosive. If you remain conscious after this, you can make a jump check, with an effective Great Leap rating equal to the DV of the explosive.

that's a common house rule and considered the way it should work and been written. Scanner Rating x2 (fake SIN rating)

For some reason my group doesn't like cyberware scanners either.

How does it work for vehicles?

Only subjects normally entitled to make jump checks can benefit from rocket jump.

Which would rule out every vehicle except for those anthropomorphic cyborg drones, AFAIK.

If you have a Ramp, you gain additional flight height/distance?
we all know that something has to explode under/behind a vehicle that's driving of a ramp . .

Warthog jump. wink.gif

I lament the 2008 Knight Rider series being cancelled, as I really wanted to see a Knight Industries 2000 versus Knight Industries 3000 fight. wink.gif

Not to mention a few other ideas I had... Yeah, I'm a fanboy. I think being here despite having wanted to play Shadowrun since '92 proves that enough.

KITT is surprisingly Pink Mohawk, however...

Posted by: Elfenlied Aug 1 2011, 02:30 PM

Wait a sec, you've been DMing for 19 years without getting to play yourself?

Posted by: CanRay Aug 1 2011, 02:35 PM

GMed for a 9 month campaign after I said "F*** IT!" and got the 4th Edition rules and took a year or two to find a group. Then fell apart. Me, not the group, that came later.

That's it, that's all.

The 3000 was red.

No, that was the Knight Industries 4000, which was a vastly inferior model.

The 3000 was a Black Shelby Mustang that didn't come with a "Hoopty Mode". nyahnyah.gif Yeah, the "Gadgetmobile" option kind of made me go WTF as well, but was an interesting touch.

Posted by: Stahlseele Aug 1 2011, 02:50 PM

i thought the new black one was the 4000?
ok, my bad.

In a one off run, we found a hidden away old storage for prototype vehicles.
a black sports car, a black sports motorbike, a black military helicopter, a black sports boat.
and a big black truck capable of transporting one or two of the others, depending on choice.
yes, basically, we found kitt, streethawk, airwolf/blue thunder, thunder(thunder in paradise) and goliath/the rolling command center from the old knight rider series.

Posted by: CanRay Aug 1 2011, 02:58 PM

Oh, very nice! biggrin.gif

I was planning on having my group be hired via the Matrix to steal a "Prototype Automobile", only to find out it's a 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am. Turns out, the AI living in the high-level Pilot System that the owner had put in as part of a KITT-Fan Club conversion, the AI had hired them himself ("I am not an it, and I most certainly am not female. I like the curves on those other cars too much to be anything but male." "Or a lesbian." "Hm, possible. No, male.") to get away from all the drooling fanatics that kept pawing him.

I figured he'd be an interesting contact as he drove from town-to-town righting wrongs. A sort of a combination of the original Knight Rider and The Littlest Hobo.

Posted by: Stahlseele Aug 1 2011, 03:05 PM

Yeah, we liberated the AI in the sportscar the Johnson told us to get.
And imagine the grinding of teeth figuring out we could only take the sportscar OR somethig else using the transporter . .
But we basically hosed the Johnson(and the GM) by telling letting the AI decide what it wanted to happen to itself.
Turns out the johnson was bulletbroof, but not car-proof.
we got the gloiath-transporter and now have, basically, in SR3, a pilot/rigger AI as a contact. in a combat ready vehicle.

Posted by: CanRay Aug 1 2011, 03:11 PM

If Gun-Fu is insufficient, start using Car-Fu.

And damn but I wish I could play. frown.gif

Posted by: Stahlseele Aug 1 2011, 03:12 PM

poor guy.
tried the missions/play by post or IRC games?

Posted by: CanRay Aug 1 2011, 03:24 PM

Can't do PbP, just can't, no matter the game.

I also find IRC exhausting for some reason. frown.gif

have you checked out http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/memberlist.php, granted there are only 25 people in your area but I would suspect you could get other people to play possibly one to run

Like R2D2 with a nervous breakdown.

I am surprised Lucas did not slap a lawsuit on them.

Posted by: CanRay Aug 3 2011, 06:56 AM

Well, unlike R2, he didn't swear every second line. nyahnyah.gif

Posted by: hobgoblin Aug 3 2011, 07:44 AM

Heh, good thing the tin can only speak binary then wink.gif

Posted by: CanRay Aug 3 2011, 07:51 AM

That isn't binary, that's the censorship bleep. nyahnyah.gif wink.gif

R2-D2, the original Pink Mohawk Droid!

Posted by: hobgoblin Aug 3 2011, 09:22 AM

Ah yes, the bleep that is becoming just as offensive as the words they are supposed to cover up (if the US busybodies are to be believed).

Iirc, it was about the visual version of the bleep applied to TV guides. That "S*it my dad says" was offensive, even with the *.

Still, various Discovery programs seems to be overloaded with bleeps to the point that it has become something of a "trademark".

Posted by: CanRay Aug 3 2011, 03:31 PM

****ing idiotic *******s that have nothing better to do than censor some ********ed good ****!!!

Whatever happened to freedom of speech and the idea of "I may not like it personally, but I'll fight to ensure it can be said."?

Posted by: KarmaInferno Aug 3 2011, 03:44 PM

Well, to be fair, censoring a word in a way that you can still tell what the word being censored is, really isn't censoring.

I tend to prefer implied profanity, anyway. So blark you, scrut-fogs!

Posted by: Irion Aug 4 2011, 06:50 AM

@CanRay
It is kind of funny. It depends on the country for what you get into trouble if said/done on TV.
Showing your tits in France does not do anything.
On the other hand I guess there is a lot of stuff in American TV for which you might get in deep trouble over here in europe.

Yeah, in the USA a naked blade is considered more appropriate than a naked body.

As for Canadian Television... Um, well, we got http://youtu.be/lgGKSjiw0HQ and http://youtu.be/z7k5YjfbcLQ. frown.gif

Oh, and http://youtu.be/yXvGDRFIEBY instead of The Sopranos.
