Dumpshock Forums _ Shadowrun _ Help from and for Alchemists

Posted by: Aaron May 8 2015, 11:29 PM

While some of you know me as a contributor to Shadowrun rules, fiction, and universe, I also happen to be a Computer Science teacher. Today, I gave my Advanced Placement students their final project: to create an Android app that will act as a tool for Enchanters to track their alchemical preparations. I've already given them the specifications for the project, but part of my lesson plan is to change the specs part way through the project (something most programmers can relate to).

What I'd like from you is the kinds of features you'd like to see in this kind of tool. Want a time tracker? Dice roller? Cup holder? Add your ideas below and I'll use them when I'm writing my "updated" specification for my students.

Thanks!

I'd like to see a supply management interface including inventory, shopping lists, costs, and price paid for individual purchases... Since you're asking. wink.gif

How about tracking force and how long the preparation lasts.
Also, automatically do the drain.

Echoing what PraetorGradivus said.

Also, I wouldn't mind some support for potential house rules. For example:

"Instead of Alchemy being opposed by Force of the preparation, it is opposed by Force - Alchemist's Skill. Therefore, an Alchemist with an Alchemy skill of 6 casting at Force 6 or lower would roll Magic + Alchemy [Force] unopposed, but if he were to overcast to Force 12, he would be opposed by 6 dice."

Obviously there are too many house rules (and too many unknowns) to incorporate them all, but maybe some requirements to make some of the values flexible/changeable rather than fixed.
