Here's a question for those of you that know a lot about ED & SR, Great Dragons, IE and the like.
I just read the short stroy WyrmTalk in Ancient File's web page. At the End of the story harlequin says,"He's the most reasonable of them all. It'll be a shame when we have to destroy him." refering to Big D.
Why does Harlequin wants to kill the big D??
Is it because he needs his lifeforce to solve some horror related problem?
Or is it because he's been telling too much in his show?
As far as I understand they don't hate each other.... could it that harlequin wants to do something similar to the Dragon Heart artifact but doesn't suspects that the big D eventually will sacrifice himself...
Greetings.

No, he's alluding to the fact that IEs, ALL of them, want to keep certain things hidden from the knowledge of the Sixth World as do most if not all dragons. If Far Scholar (Dunkelzahn) starts spilling secrets others don't want him to, they'll have to eliminate him before he spreads more. However, he got the last laugh on the IEs (probably to Laughing Man's (Harlequin's) amusement) with his will and the information it let out. Not all the IEs have nefarious reasons for wanting to keep their secrets though. Laughing Man probably wants humanity to discover things on their own (implied in the same story as well when the Invae are brought up), while the Princes of TT and the rulers of TNN want to keep secrets so they can use them to bolster their own power.
BTW, I use the odd names because, as discussed in Dragons of the Sixth World, dragons never address each other by their "true" names, but by titles (Far Scholar, Orange Queen, Gold Master, etc) out of respect to one another. There IS a chance, however slim, that the Awakening might happen and I don't want to tick off anyone that powerful if they start reading through archives on the Matrix ^_-
And yes, I am kidding, and I'm not psychotic ![]()
The Abstruse One
I've had a pet theory that Dragons have a final stage after Great in which they go insane and thus must be put to sleep.
However, it is more likely that with Immortals, everything is eventual. At some point all the dragons must die, and Harlequin doesn't doubt which side he'll be on.
I bet something of some sort will happen on that day though. The Mayan's knew a hell of a lot about astronomy. I'm guessing a meteor shower or something like that.
I still wonder if Harlequin really ment it, or just something he said as sour comment.

Dunkie at another point mentions a 'friend' who would mount his head on a wall if he said certain things.
My guess was always that Harly expected that eventually Dunk would go to far and he would have to take necessary steps. That Dunk ended up going the way he did (and as soon as he did) was a surprise to him.
Also, he probably just wanted to shock Frosty. 'Cause that's fun.
For more fun, read "Post Mortem" and see what that does to you.
Actually I read that one first. ![]()
BTW in the new sourcebooks is there new stuff related to ED?? is harlequin mentioned in any of the ED books??
Makes an appearance in Blood Wood IIRC.
Yes and yes, please see my ED/SR and Immortals pages; the revised version of the latter should actually be done this weekend.

I'm attempting to improve readability on the site, but it /is/ hard to find the time. It can take hours to go through certain books, much less cross-reference.
[edit]p.63 of Blood Wood "Caimbeuel"

Ah, well.
Danke. I do try.
Ancient History, if you ever plan on Gamemastering online either ED or SR I'll love to be a part of the game, its hard to find GM that know that much about the game and can do tie ins in the adventures.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, though I've not the time to run a game anytime soon I'm afraid.
