Dunno. I didn't notice it, but I wasn't on last night. I do know that a few people got some kind of 404 error and that it somehow ended up creating duplicate posts.

Hopefully whatever it was was temporary and a fluke. If not we'll need people to post up details for Neuron Basher.

I noticed that too. And all my unread threads got marked as read. So now I don't know which posts I haven't read. frown.gif

I noticed it, too, like 2 hours ago.

I saw it last night. I could go to the main page but none of the subforums.

There was a time last night around 10pm CST (I think) that it got rebooted (I think) since Neuron Basher, myself and Mister Juan were the only ones on.

It progressed from the 404's when you clicked on any link/forum topic to the point that it wouldn't allow me to log in, just kept taking me back to the main forum/topic listing even after clicking on the "Quick Login" stuff.

Seems to be ok, save for the new weird translations of some " and - that are leaving little diamonds with question marks in it. biggrin.gif

What the crap is going on today? All day long I've had posts changing themselves from unread to read, and the active users list bottoming out to me and maybe one other person.
Everything seems to be working, otherwise (aside from the questionmark diamonds) but even so, something is definitely not quite right here.

Posted by: eidolon Jan 5 2007, 09:09 PM

Odd. I'm not seeing question mark diamonds, and my read/unread indication seems fine.

Hmm.

A specific example of question mark diamonds: Under the Dragons of the Sixth World heading is the phrase" "Whats that you say? Never deal with a dragon? Chummer, if a wizworm involves you in its intricate plots, youll have no choice in the matter. Youll either deal or be its next meal."

As for the read/unread and everyone disappearing off the active users list (which always happens at the same time, btw), I don't know, but it's been happening to me all day.

edit: I can see them in my post above. I hope you can too. That's how it looks on the forum to me.

I keep getting logged out. Had to log in three times just to get in, then twice more to post this.

We switched web server software last night. You might be running into some cookie weirdness.

Posted by: Kyoto Kid Jan 5 2007, 10:14 PM

...hmm, maybe that was why the spell checker was acting so funny just a bit ago. For some reason it would show the misspelled word in the correction field, but it highlighted incorrect targets in the view window.

I've had this too. All alone on Dumpshock... Freaky...

Roger on the software, Adam. Let's hope this clears up quickly and painlessly.

...hmmm, didn't think there was a "My Dumpshock" option. Freaky scatter.gif

Try deleting all the Dumpshock cookies from your PC and logging back on after a cache refresh (Ctrl+F5).

Moon-Hawk - (and admins by default of course)

I'm still seeing them too. Only thing I've noticed is if I'm writing up posts in Word (which I almost always do if it's important) and paste them in (I'm using Verdana for the font) I get the ? diamonds. If I'm pasting in using Arial, no diamonds.

Weird eh?

I have completely cleared my cookies, cache and done a cache refresh.

Only other possible clue bit would be I'm running DSF on Firefox. Although, on IE I just see boxes where the ? diamonds are in Firefox. Definitely only doing it for apostrophes, quotes and hyphens.

Hope that helps a bit for troubleshooting.

Since you're writing it in Word, you're almost certainly inserting "smart quotes" into the document. I suggest writing in a plain text editor that doesn't do such things, or simply pasting it into a plain text editor, then copy and pasting /that/ text into your browser.

There are various encoding issues with smart quotes and other such characters, and it looks like our current setup isn't as friendly as the previous setup. It will get poked at over the weekend.

FWIW, this ought to be fixed now.

Posted by: Grinder Jan 18 2007, 10:09 AM

Yep, it is. Same with the unread-topics-problem. Great! smile.gif

Posted by: MK Ultra Jan 18 2007, 07:08 PM

Thanks to the staff for solving the problems and making me feel less lonly nyahnyah.gif

Posted by: Moon-Hawk Jan 18 2007, 07:44 PM

Hooray! Special thanks to whom ever fixed it. smile.gif
