Dumpshock Forums _ Dumpshock News, Bug Reports, Feature Requests, & Discussion _ Search Limitations

I ran across a bit of an annoyance. I was trying to search for a 3 character word and was informed that it wasn't allowed, 4 characters were the minimum. So the result was that I couldn't search for all the threads containing "FAQ". (which I thought was a reasonable term to search for)

Any possibility of lowering the minimum to 3 characters instead of 4?

This is a limit of MySQL, not of the forum software.

Ah, that makes it a bit more involved having to change the ft_min_word_len could be altered and deleted/created the fulltext indexes. Maybe something to put on the list for the next time a major version upgrade/conversion happens.

Unfortunately, since we use a third-party forum package, we don't really get to specify such things. Redjack: Do you know of a suggestion box for the invisionboard software where -Umbrage- could send his idea?

It is nothing for Invision to change. As to changing MySQL, I have to vote against that.

Is there any chance of getting the Search to simply discard (with a little warning) too-short queries instead of throwing up all over itself and making you delete bits by hand?
