I'm getting flooded with new topic noteification emails and I dont remember signing up for that.

Click on My Controls at the top of the screen and then Email Settings on the left menu. I believe it's one of the bottom options.

Enabling this option will send a plain text version of the post in the subscription email.

You've probably got that selected. Just unselect it.
