From THIS thread
QUOTE
Yes the Theran Empire source book gives five alternative reasons for the Pillars, each one as crazy as the next. I guess its possible that the sheer concentration of Orichalcum and the quantity of True Elements mined from the elemental planes prior to the Scourge all across Barsaive could result in the level of mana remaining unnaturally high, albeit not intentionally. It could also be natural and those that think they knew just simply got it wrong.

One note: There was no such thing as "August" in 3113 BC. The month is named after Augustus. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

There was no such thing as "BC" in 3113 BC, either.

At the risk of necroing a thread...has anyone considered that they usually say "6th Age of Magic" (or man...I am getting old and it's all a bit fuzzy these days) Either way, this could easily explain any discrepancy. Sure, the ages of magic last 5200 years, but in between these ages there is a lull of mana...which is not an age of magic and thus is discounted.

Just an odd thought.

I've seen references to the pre-2012 age being the 5th World so I'm pretty sure they're not just counting the ages with magic in them.
