Okay, let's see here. Version P, huh? Neat. So, on to bughunting! In MS Excel 2007, no less!
CharSheet tab:
Weapons tab:
Weapons_Data tab:
I'm sure I'll probably find more tiny little missed details the further I dig into it, but for now? That's it. The only things I can offer as suggestions would be to freeze-pane rows 1 and 2 and default the zoom level at 100% on the Weapons tab, to have the "prepackaged" Settings tab options be Creation Mode: TRUE and Preset Configurations: Raw, and to ensure there's no data left over in the rest of the un-hidden sheets from self-testing. But that's just, like, my opinion, man. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wobble.gif) |

CharSheet tab: [*]Cell X11 pitches a #REF! error. This occurs with both regular and outfit-grouped armor. Apparently I started changing the encumberance value to calculate for both Ballistic and Impact, and never finished (see page 78 of the thread to know what I am going for here). Fixed in version q. Weapons tab: The following cells in the AC column fail to highlight properly when the first custom weapon does not have a smartlink: 38, 58, 78, 98, 118, 138, 158, 178, 198. This does not occur if the first custom weapon has a smartlink, if any other weapons do not have smartlinks, or if the first custom weapon is blank. Tricky static cell references. Fixed in q. Weapons tab: The four additional modification slots in every custom weapon slot are not adding their costs to the weapon's total, while adding their effects to the weapon - for example, a Gyro Stabilization addition will still add six points of recoil compensation without adding an additional 3000 to the weapon's price. Fixed in q. Weapons_Data tab: The Defiance EX Shocker is listed as being a SA weapon. As per SR4A p.317, it is a SS weapon. If there is errata otherwise, then please feel free to inform me. Fixed in q. Fantastic bugfinding Artbomb! |

Regarding the free complex forms thing, it's in the "Latent Technomancer" quality entry in Unwired, page 37, 4th paragraph of the quality: Honestly, if using the BP system it's as easy as selecting the three complex forms and assigning them a rating of 1 in the BP column. For karmagen, just make a suitable entry in the Karma_Log for 6 karma points. I checked out the entry. Since the three free complex forms at rating 1 are only applicable to Latent technomancers, then Spellbinders suggestion works fine. I see no need to alter the sheet. Yeah, they are. Can't take a quality that grants a Resonance attribute when you've also got one that grants a Magic attribute, and vice versa. This goes the same for those that give you one or the other after character creation, either. But I think DK mentioned Latent Dracomorphosis as it works a bit differently in the character sheet. Being a latent TM and taking the TM quality are the same BP cost, but Latent Dracomorphosis and actually being a Drake have different BP costs. There's a toggle box to select if you express as a Drake after character creation so it sucks up the relevant amount of karma to make up for it, and probably why DK suggested to leave it alone. I meant to say Latent Technomancer. What you have read into it is a good point though... |

Still love this thing, DK. Only issue I have these days is porting over my data to a new sheet each time. I just don't trust copy/paste to not jack up your work.

Eventually the Chummer sheet will get a full array of features and we can put this spreadsheet to rest. For now, you get to enjoy data entry practice every so often (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Ditto. With having Excel myself already I've been able to write sheets for a few other games to try and help make things easier for me with them. If it weren't for your continued work on this sheet, DK, I'd've never even gotten off the ground. In the very least, after having already peeked at the next generation it looks like I'll be able to make some editing for any personal needs (honestly I think it'd be easier in Excel for most things at the moment). Might even get me to expand on my programming skills some more. |

Portability is the issue with characters from a spreadsheet. There is no easy to way export the character data from excel, short of writing a macro, which would then only work for certain versions of excel.
I want to be able to export character data into XML format, then import it into any other program, or import it into a newer version of the character generator, etc. I dont mean to sound nihilistic, but the spreadsheet character generator is a quick fix to hold people over until a real program is written. Remember NSRCG anyone? |

I'd hardly call DK's work some sort of quick-fix, given the months of work he's put into this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Sounds like it could be useful once it's done. QUOTE Fantastic bugfinding Artbomb! Hey, I figure all that time I've spent filing bug reports for beta MMOs has to be good for something. I'm just glad I can help. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) |

It's extremely annoying that you can't put in custom values for contacts.
[Edit:] I'm not sure if I mentioned this already, but it's been bugging me for a while. In OO, when I enter a value for the first time in the cyberware or gear columns, and possibly elsewhere (I haven't checked thoroughly), the row height changes to .35 (from .18). Also, some cells (most notably at the top of some tabs) will sometimes become much larger than that. Once fixed manually, they stay fixed. |

DK, the tooltip for the Karma Generation metatype cost still refers to Norma, Reduced and Free, when you've changed the dropdown to be High, Normal and Free.

One thing that one of my players found was there wasn't enough room for all of the gear he bought on the printout (even with the expanded gear option). Not sure if this is something other folks have found (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Along the same veins, could you change the concept box on the printable sheet to be word-wrapped? Right now it extends behind the shadowrun logo.

Also, some cells (most notably at the top of some tabs) will sometimes become much larger than that. Once fixed manually, they stay fixed. I cannot replicate this problem in Excel. I removed some of the validation flags on the contacts with version O or P, but if the latest version of the sheet is still giving you problems with contacts there is not a thing I can do about it. Sorry (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) Along the same veins, could you change the concept box on the printable sheet to be word-wrapped? Right now it extends behind the shadowrun logo. No problem. That is how they were meant to be. Fixed in version q. One thing that one of my players found was there wasn't enough room for all of the gear he bought on the printout (even with the expanded gear option). Not sure if this is something other folks have found (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This is no surprise. Most runners eventually outgrow this gear area. For most of my characers, I just make sure to place the gear they wear at the top of the gear area so it makes it into the Gear section on the printable sheet. If you have alot of gear and need a comprehensive list, I recommend printing the gear page. You may want to shrink the font a bit and remove highlighting, but it may be the simplest solution. Also, you can create a very large merged cell if you like, turn on word wrapping, then set its contents to '=Selected_Gear'. This will make it display the same as the character sheets gear section, but you can enlarge it. Also, remember that since this is a non-protected spreadsheet, you are free to resize the printable sheets. Or redesign them! In fact, if you come up with a handy design, send it to me and I will add it to the printable character sheets area. |

Connection isn't allowed to exceed 6; this makes most group contacts impossible to enter.
Contacts below a certain cell don't cost anything; the sheet doensn't register Loyalty and Connection entries. |

Much thanks to all involved for taking the time to produce this character sheet, it’s a really great resource!
My group’s characters consist of a fairly eclectic bunch of PCs, and in writing them to the spreadsheet, a few apparent little errors have come to light so far. Without wading through a large number of posts I don’t know if they’ve already been raised. But anyway; • According to Runners’ Companion, Sasquatches (and other sapient critters) should receive an automatic magic rating of 1. This doesn’t appear when selecting these races on the spreadsheet. • When building a Free Spirit, their spirit powers do not appear on the printable character sheet. • The paranoia negative quality awards -5 BP, not -10 BP, as in the R.C. • The uneducated negative quality is meant to double the costs of technical, academic knowledge, and professional knowledge skills. However, on the spreadsheet if appears to also effect the cost of interest knowledge and street knowledge skills too. I hope my query helps a little way in the development of this sheet. Keep up the good work chaps; I’m really looking forward to ever more improvements to this great sheet! Thanking you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) … M |
