Not the oddest thing in the world, but the odd circumstances kinda boggled me a bit. So I was statting up a fresh mission for a mini side campaign I'm starting for two of my more obsessive players (they want to play even more often than we already do, but no one else has the time). Combination assassination and destruction, secretly a tailchaser - the twist is that the target is an ultra luxury yacht owned by a corporate bigwig and both it and the rich bastard need to be annihilated while in international waters.

So then one of my players fires over a copy of his character sheet for me to check off on, and in particular wants me to okay his vehicle. It's a Honda Spirit with some typical mods, but then some not so typical ones. Apparantly he wanted it to be both LTA capable and amphibious, and wanted to know if that was kosher and how exactly I'd allow the two systems to operate in tandem with each other.

Bear in mind, I had only thought up the yacht mission literally fifteen minutes beforehand, and this will be the first mission in an exotic environment I've ever sent the runners on. Also worth noting is that the two man team consists of a human gun bunny / sniper with impressive skills, and a dwarven combat mage with a focus on storm-themed elemental magic. I get the strong sense that when the mission goes down, they're gonna want to just pile in the Spirit, drive out of Seattle to somewhere remote, inflate the LTA balloons, float out over the Pacific, and start raining lead and mana down onto the yacht from on high. Which may prove hilariously disastrous, or gloriously successful, depending on how things play out and how the dice fall.

The yacht was already gonna have impressive private defense including a few heavy weapons, but now I'm having to debate with myself over whether they'd be more likely to have guided missiles or unguided rockets...

Easy. Guided.
But the first one misses by inches.

Ran into a pixie during the Missions at DragonCon.

He had Cephalopoidal Skull, and I think pretty much every gross deformity possible from Runners Companion.

"Oh. Oh god. What the hell is that?"

"You know the mini-thulu there? He wears a simrig."

"Yeah?"

"He uses it to contribute to the TacNet. And he, uh, likes to taste things."

-k

Me and a couple friends of mine have been talking about statting one up. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Cephelapoidal Skull, Thagomizer, Insectile Features, ect.

Yeah, I have a guy who looks like a Spider... Interesting Character, to be sure. Keeps getting mistaken as an Insect Spirit of some sort, though. He does not get out much.

It's only a private yacht for a rich socialite, though. It's not a corporate boat or anything, just the owner is a company man. He's not exactly expecting his men to have to shoot down gunships when he goes sailing.

Surely a bunch of (appropriately scaled) professional bodyguards equipped with quality weapons and gear is sufficient for both his ego and any realistic threats? The yacht already has concealed mounted machine guns and a few hidden drone bays, it could capably handle a speedboat attack by pirates or similar. I could see the security team having a couple LAWs stowed away for emergencies, but how likely is it really that they'd have a SAM launcher like a Vogeljäger II on board?

MG's are perfectly suited to deal with people attacking from a blimp...

3 LAWs, one MAW. if you need more AV oomf than that while out on a sailing trip then you're probably going to know it and have a more powerful weapon system on standby.

Let me be clear: this is not about creative optimization. This is about those moments when you look at a character sheet and wonder what the hell the player was thinking. I'll kick it off with this: a player, who ended up not joining the campaign, showed up with a character who spoke thirteen(!) languages... all at rating 1. Yes, rating 1 (one). I never did get an explanation of why he thought this was a good idea. It wasn't even related to the concept (which he said was a "weapons master.")

Pink Dildo and Soft Rope.

Soft Rope was actually 50' of rope, written messy.

We're *pretty* sure someone else wrote "Pink Dildo" on his sheet. But we weren't 100%. He was a weird, weird dude.

The Yacht?
Concealed Vehicle Laser.
LOS is god on the water, and that thing will make a nice hole without the whole bothersome "Oh..what missile, officer?" questioning you might get from the coast guard.

Here's a new one.

Book, titled, "19 Other Uses for Milk."
(It is, apparently, a Lactomancer's guide)

From what I understand, it has something to do with milk being the source of all life.

Anyway, it exists as some kind of self-fulfilling prophesy (a future version of the character wrote the book, and now the present version is reading it and following in his own footsteps: hooray time travel).
