I'm thinking about writing up some short stories centering on a character of mine who grew up in Redmond, Seattle. Central to her identity is the gang her mother ran. But, I just realized that colors and logos were never discussed in any of the games I played in. We'd just say 'wearing their colors' and leave it at that. So I'm looking for a little help fleshing them out, and I'd appreciate any input.

Gang information:

The gang leader was an ex-military troll woman named Moira with modular cyberlimbs 'Modular Moira'. She was more of a matriarch figure to the group of troll and ork street kids. They weren't at all big until the shadowrunners attached to my character started doing jobs for them and basically slaughering other gangs. Moira's Boys (some of which were girls) live in an abandoned apartment complex and (of all things) grow slightly radioactive vegetables. They didn't have very many magic users and most of their technomancers were in the closet.

Colors for a barrens gang, eh?

How about midnight black, acid-washed concrete grey, and rust red?

What if instead of colours they're wearing decorations of easily obtainable nature, like wrapping one of their arms in duct tape or having a shoulderpad made out of a chain link fence

That makes a lot of sense, and it's a pretty unique idea. Maybe their signature weapon is a 'club' made out of a piece of piping with concrete on the end. I can see them wearing actual chains instead of gold ones.

I like these a lot. They're colors that would be easily found.

Neon Green and Pink.

Those would go with Moira pretty well. At the end of the day it's all curlers, mumus and bad TV with her.

I kind of like the idea of chain-link fence pauldrons.

Not only that, they're colors that will blend well in the Barrens. You said Moira was ex-army, right? Then she knows the value of good camouflage and the element of surprise. So dressing her kids in colors that blend well in the barrens is a good idea.

Impact armor cut out of old tires for that post-apocalytptic look could be fun too. But if you go the 'blend in' route, ypu ùight want to add things like scarves, bandanas or gipsy blets in something flashier for when you're 'showing the flag' or hitting the clubs as there the idea is to be seen. And they can be removed quickly and efficiently when you're minding business.
