So, Attitude plus Runner's Companion then?
Also, metatypes in the Fifth world?

To be honest I'd prefer a big dedicated book to Metatypes and their Metavariants in the Sixth world.

I have Attitude and a few Runner's Companion.

Edit: Sixth, not Fifth world.

For all I know of the Fifth world, we don't have metatypes.
Unless you consider the racist grumbling valid.

You have to wonder how they learned it minding that the Awakening happened about half a century ago.

No idea. Hand bone analysis? Computer projection based on fragmentary data and simplistic simulations of processes not understood? Or maybe someone asked Ehran.

Cannot say. I only gave you the facts as the book stated them. It also stated elves are nocturnal vegetarians, btw.

QUOTE
As for Dwarves? I honestly have no clue about what sort of information they'd have available, but I do feel that they're actually the least well fleshed out metatype of all. They seem woefully lacking in "racial" significance or even just a distinctly "dwarven" culture.

There was a Kaér full of immortal dwarfs under the Rhine-Ruhr megaplex once, but Lars Ullrich killed them.

QUOTE
Maybe some archaeologists can dig up the ruins of Throal, or something. (Or rather, "Totally-Not-Throal" to avoid any kerfuffle over intellectual property).

In either Loose Alliances or Shadows of Asia, the Atlantean Foundation found "something big" in the Cuacasian mountains. they also employed indentured dwarfs to dig it out.

QUOTE
A "Fifth World Life" book with a long chapter devoted to metatypes and metavariants would be a good start. Make it basically the Runner's Companion, but basically all about character options and flavor it intensely with volumetric info about the setting and the people who live in it..

I assume you want "Sixth World Life"? But other than that, I agree. A book that examines a few issues, like how metahuman fesatures affect the sixth world, and how life in metahuman states is diffrent from life in human-centric places. And a few more meta-heavy/creature-heavy places than the Tírs examined as settings, with daily life and fashion and such, would be nice too. There's Hawai'i, Germany/Troll Republic, Mongolia, Manchuria, Amazonia, Azania/Zulu, Asamondo, and absolutely nobody's stopping you from being creative with Africa aside from Ghouls and the Zulu. Wakyambi kingdom, or maybe a dwarf-only realm? Could be cast as a traveling guide or something.

Could you please go into a bit more detail as to what they might be digging up there?
For alt.War, you see.

It was just a throwaway sentence, sadly... I'll see that I find it and just quote it.

You're not (ish). One of mine used the services to scout the place (she ordered the doll to sit in a corner and face the wall after choosing the most submissive settings possible). Interestingly, that's the player who tried to pull a fast one on the other players to save Torrini's neck.

Yeaaah but that's not using the nasty nasty stuff there. That was scouting. had she engaged in sex with the dirty nasty skanky slaved girls or boys there, had sex with them, that'd have been using the services. If all she did was make the poor woman face a wall, that's not 'USING' them.

That's pretty nasty. Are your players purposefully playing "Bad guys"? In my time gaming there's been a few campaigns where we've purposefully played bad/evil sorts.

My group is getting that way. They're getting in bed with some really nasty customers, including the guy that almost wiped out half of Seattle's Downtown with a bus.

Yeah, but how can you help but love a bomb-crazy Irishman? Hell, the only way you could make it better would be to make it a boom-crazy Irishwoman who looks like Gabrielle Anwar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

@CanRay

I feel it vitally important to specifically state a bus-bomb in the future, because this is Shadowrun, and I'm quite ready to believe someone somewhere has or will eventually find a way to wipe out half of Seattle's downtown with just a bus.

@ShadowDragon8685

While I do like the character of Fiona, one of my favorite moments in the entire show was when in one of the later seasons they make a metajoke where one of her old Irish pals complains about how she's "lost her accent". Anwar and Donovan are both superb actors, but their ability to affect accents is like "Marry-Poppins-Dick-Van-Dyke" levels of bad.

The best one of those was, in my opinion, when Fiona's brother shows up unexpectedly, and Mike has to immediately reassume his cover identity from then... Then later on he proposes that he'll pretend to be an American, using his regular voice... And the Irishman cringes a bit and says "I dunno, mate... Your accent's a little dodgy."

Mike gets this incredulous look and looks back to Sam, who gestures "little bit" with his fingers.

See, that's just it. There's no objective scale of "Shmowzow To Be Worryin' About" in Shadowrun. I never know how to gauge things.

Like, I've seen a runner team get mostly wiped out by a helicopter gunship which their badass Street Sams simply couldn't even dent, only to have the team's face employ Commanding Voice and Voice Control to force the pilot to nosedive into a skyscraper. I've seen throwing adepts kill corpsec teams with marshmallows, and I've seen a pixie use another pixie's unconscious body to K.O. a troll bullet sponge. I've seen exploding washing machines, possessed firebreathing Daruma Dolls, and an inbred redneck gnome who could hypnotise huge crowds of people with his devil-won banjo powers. I've seen magically empowered hammerhead sharks eviscerate dockworkers on dry land and dehydrated pygmy goats used as implements of torture. I've seen suicide bombings where the only survivor was the perpetrator, and I've seen desperation and sheer bravado make heroes out of ingenious madmen.

So when you mention "the guy that almost wiped out half of Seattle's Downtown with a bus", I don't think a mad bomber, I think either a dice-blessed rigger on hyperdrugs caught up in some insane vehicle chese sequence during a Thanksgiving Parade, or a hulked out troll wading through blood soaked streets whose sledgehammer finally snapped from metal fatigue and decided the improvise a new one via the transit system.
