What are the Chargen rules. I am unfamiliar with 4e and am using Chummer to create.

My character will be the security guard, ex-detective so he will have some social skills and problem solving abilities.

I'm thinking we should look at getting started soon. I don't need character sheets, just basic metatype, gender, name, job description and bare-bones backstory. Details can be hashed out as we go.

Okay, so this is my first character for SR4 I've ever made. I am VERY open to suggestions/changes, because I don't know what I'm doing.

Character concept is mechanic/wheelman. Created with Chummer.

A few questions before the data dump:
Dr. Jones has a few traits I didn't see available on Chummer (college educated, 3D memory, etc.) Where should I be looking for those?
This thin-atmosphere Mars, I assumed that there are no aircraft, just suborbitals, so I chose my skills based on that.
Cyberlimbs. What am I doing? Am I close to being right?

So here are the character numbers, stripped down to just relevant details:

Some of the Qualities are from Runners Companion. College education is from there.

Some of the adept powers are from Street Magic. 3D memory is form there.

The arm looks alright to me, nezumi. I assume Chummer covers costs and essence, etc. appropriately.

Dr. Jones wishes this guy had been around in India. Damn trucks were seizing up, seemingly overnight.

While it's obvious this guy can lift engine blocks by himself, he also would pack a good punch. You don't have any unarmed combat skill (or any combat skill for that matter). Are you counting on our GM to be telling the truth about combat? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Really good idea about the internal airtank. Martian atmosphere be damned!

I will have something up tonight.

My character will be JT Logan, an ex Lone Star detective. He is going to Mars to start a new life, working for the Mars Security Firm (or whatever company we are going to work for), where he will work for his old boss and with an old colleague. JT specializes in solving crimes, and has above average law enforcement and detective skills (firearms, unarmed, investigation, shadowing, interrogation, etiquette, leadership, etc.). He should lead the team in actual security measures and investigations.

I did include clubs as a combat skill. Think I should change that over to unarmed?

I didn't bother picking up a ranged skill. I was on the fence about it for a while. I'm open to getting pushed either way.

The spoiler list shows clubs at 0 skill level. So I assume that means no skill level in it. My guess is that carrying a weapon around in most instances will be frowned upon. So unarmed would make your PC viable in any circumstance, even if it doesn't have the same damage level or reach.

I gave Dr. Jones, an adept, the adept power Missile Mastery so that as long as he has a pen in his pocket, he is dangerous. But he just looks like another nerd.

You are correct, standard aeronautics aren't viable in 6% of earth's. There are some things they're working on, but it's definitely Aerospace stuff rather than conventional flyers.

So, at present we have:
JT Logan, Detective.
Dr Jones, Archaeologist.
Jacob Griffiths, Medical Expert.
Unnamed Dwarf, Technology Specialist.

Need a name for our tech specialist and a matrix superstar and we can get this party started!

I will have my character sheet up by the end of the week... got to re-tweak my chummer a bit. I have more to add to his story, but that might be a little delayed.

Working every night the next two weeks, 12 hour shifts, no internet from work and 4G is spotty at best.

I thought about Nathaniel some and decided to swap Adept Centering out and Centering in for his Initiations. The academic would have gotten Cognition first, and then Centering to help deal with the pernicious Drain. It might not be as beneficial to survival, but it is more fitting to his story.

While I remember is there a formal colour scheme for IC posts when it comes to talking, actions, commlink messages and so forth? I'm sure I recall seeing one in the past but I'll be darned if I can locate it again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

As long as you're consistent, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
