If anyone is interested in the Jackpoint characters, the last chapter of Runners Companion has several short stories that feature specific Jackpoint characters: Picador, Sticks, Clockwork, Netcat, and Ma'fan.

We even get to see what passes for a "Cheesecake" shot of Netcat in her undergarmets! That's right, folks, Technomancer pr0n!!!

If that won't sell more books, I don't know what will. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

I've had the honor of pretending to be both 2XL and Man-of-Many-Names in an online chat, and in preparing for that I have studied up on those two. I've also written about newcomer that has only sort of appeared as yet, but another writer writes that character way better than me, so I might leave said character to her if I'm offered more word counts in the future.

You do do you? (Yes I'm that sad today)

Aaron, that's only because while you've been around teenaged girls, I've been one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (And survived the experience, too!)

To say nothing of Bull, either.

Bull is actually not one of the Jackpoint characters. The last book he showed up in was Dragons of the 6th World (I think).

When the concept of a small, dedicated group of characters for the Jackpoint concept was initially discussed, I decided throw his name in for consideration for two reasons.

1) He's retired, been retired for a while, and the way we wrapped up that campaign, he's not terribly interested in the Shadowlife anymore. He's old, he's tired, and he's lost far too many friends. Now he just wants to relax and spend time with his family. His son, on the other hand, is about 18 now... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

2) The main reason was that I was hoping we would get (and was glad we did get) mostly new characters. It was a new game, new rules, and we'd had that 5 year timeline jump. The thinking was that new blood and new characters would be fun to work with, and wouldn't have any baggage. YOu need a few old hands to "Bridge the gap" and teach newbies the ropes, but there were far better choices than my guy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That's one thing I'm really looking forward to, now that the "Core books" are out of the way. We can start getting more and more "fluff books" that can focus some more on the story stuff. The Netcat/Clockwork stuff is some of the best Shadowtalk Infighting I've seen since Nightfire and Neon Samurai back in the Street Sammy Catalogue. (Think it was those two, anyways. Been a LONG time since I cracked the SSC. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

I tried a Tactical Nuke once. It tasted horrible, and the next thing I knew, I couldn't find my pants.

I was later informed they were on my legs.

Last time I let a friend of mine convince me to try a strangely named drink.

Lol reminds me of the time my firend had a few to many "Oh fuck where have me legs gone"s I think he had to pay £250+ in cleaning to fix the aftermath of his hotel room.

Winterhawk is a British professor of thaumaturgy in both the fanfic and the shadowtalker list. He is an active 'runner in the late '50s in the stories, and a retired 'runner in the early '70s.

They definitely _could_ be the same character, and in truth, likely are. I was just seeing if anyone knew for certain.

Yes, they are the same person, though there are slight differences since the Winterhawk in my stories moved a bit far away from canon to be "official" in his true form. Plus, I wanted to be able to continue to write about him in my stories without worrying about how his canon changed in the official world.

So, think of the one in the sourcebooks as an alternate-universe version of the one in the stories. Or vice versa. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I was just thinking that considering its been nearly 20 years, real time, since the first edition of SR, its kinda cool, and equally frustrating, that old Fastjack has remained such a mystery. Nearly 20 years, and I still don't know anything about him beyond the stuff already mentioned in this thread.

Also...

I miss the Captain. Heh, though one of the Jackpoints where Fastjack mentioned a 'brb have to go check on the grave of an old friend' seemed in context of ol Capn Chaos. Who knows, maybe he's stuck in the resonance somewhere.

makes one wonder how much time fastjack spends crawling the matrix for data on himself, and then put effort into permanently erasing it.

must have become a kind of hobby for him to be a blank in the system.

From what I gather from System Failure pg 92-93 Cap is one of the earliest digital revenants outside of Alice. My only wonder is did he survive until now and what is jackBnimble up to now.

I'm thinking he's leading an army of Neo-@ E-Ghosts to try and take over the ShadowLand Wanna-Bes, and amalgamate them back into the original.

Finishing with the JackPoint because, 1, he respects FastJack, and, 2, it's a glitch-ridden PoS system. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

In the intro section of the BBB, Fastjack mentions that Captain Chaos "went down with his ship" during the second Crash which was why he was picking up the torch as sysadmin for the next generation of shadowrunners. So I'd assume Chaos is dead or an AIPS victim at best.

Captain Chaos is dead. The Crash Worm got him when he fired off the message that informed the world about the Nukes and EMP Bombs that Winternight had laid about.

He wasn't able to jack out in time.

There's a body. They found it draped over his smoking Deck.

They had to pry it out of his cold, dead hands. Which is a common theam I hear from the Old Guard of Deckers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
