So there have been many threads on Invisibility and Concealment that have shown that neither effect works on the Astral plane. An observer can see the signature of an Invisibility spell, and Concealment is a physical power restricting it from working astrally.
So how does one hide from Astral observation? |

So you need to sneak across open ground which is being observed mundanely. Baring silly differences in dice pools between the sneak and the observer, the sneak will be seen. To remedy this we have camouflage, Invisibility spells, and the Concealment power. (none of which mean anything astrally)

Camouflage is not affective against astral sight in what way (rule and page, please)? Stick to living terrain (grass, brush, etc) and a living gillie suit if your GM rules that way.
(e) If you're without astral sight against a place with astral patrolling, you're in trouble for many reasons. |

I am not going to say its RAW...
The Mana version of invisibility (cloaks people by mental manipulation of the target) when cast on the astral "should" work. Yes the spell is visible and your aura is still visible but to the target you disappear... And with extended masking you could cloak the spells aura. Again, by RAW you can't make anything invisible in astral space. So I would run it by your GM before trying it. |

It's debatable if an invisibility spell on astral can coceal from assensing or not, from a purely logical point of view it makes the mind belive that there's nothing there, the problem is that it's a single sense illusion so it probably can only target physical sight (the one it was designed for). Manascape (Digital Grimoire). Yeah, that spell could work, yet its description doesn't states exactly what it can do; it's said that it can create auras where none exist, but can it hide existing auras? I can see a possible errata for DG (maybe as a part of the next errata of SM). |

iirc, synner or AH stated that it cant hide auras, that would be the jurisdiction of masking...
it can however make one aura look like something else, again iirc... a permanent astral sentry will indeed be a issue for mundane stealth. but given how anything other then a underground, one opening to the outside, structure has multiple entry points, both normal and creative ones, and creating those astral sentries are demanding for a valuable corporate resource, the corps best bet is to set 2-3 the task of continually patrolling the whole area. and the details of that is found in street magic, p126... |

Using the spell creation rules you could make a variant of mana invisibility and mob mind to only work on the astral and to only remove the subject from the targets astral "visual" perception. |

That was interesting. You are correct, in the thread I started about Masking and Manascape, AH made a number of statements. He clearly indicates that Manascape is incapable of eliminating an Aura (despite the text not supporting that position) just as it is incapable of creating one. It can, however, completely alter an Aura to appear to be any other sort of Aura. You could conceal a Power Focus as a Sparrow and a Sparrow as a Great Dragon. Or a team of Shadowrunners as a cloud of Dandelion seeds.... [He also studiously fails to say that Manascape does not fool Wards which was the original point of that thread.] |

As with any opposed roll, after taking into account the dice pool modifiers on both sides, if the sneaker side has 3 or more dice more than the other, then they should be successful. What you use to evade detection on the mundane should still be used to evade detection astrally. Therefore yes, a mundane should still use Infiltration(Stealth group) against astral perception. |
