I see them being used a lot in zero zones - places where no one is meant to be and anything out of the ordinary can be shot on detection.

And probably used a lot indoors, places where they can control the temperature and humidity (with A/C) and who has access, limiting the amount of false positives. I'm thinking in underground ultra secure areas.

In my opinion your option to defeat it would be to move in a fashion that the sensor won't recognize as 'metahuman moving around' but as a false positive. I can work because this sensor is both higly sensitive and poor at discriminating what it's detecting.

An efective security combo would be to link it with a camera fitted with image recognition software - it it trips the sensor, look at it. It it's recognized as a metahuman, do something about it (query for a RFID tag, send the image to a security operator, send a drone for a closer look.... plenty of possibilities)

This is the best solution by far. Only problem is that it presupposes that the wire isn't hidden away inside a plasteel tube embedded inside a wall.

Two things:

1) Would this not mainly be a "dumb" system that act together with e.g. cameras or other sensors? It's bound to trigger a lot of false positives, and when the alarms goes off for the 54th time since the security guard tried to make a cup of coffee, he's likely to hit the mute button.

2) Avoid it by wrapping in a non-conductive membrance? Not sure if that would stop EM fields completely. Alternative, fill the area with non-conducting gas and walk through (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

there must be a connection point somewhere, where the sensor connects to the rest of the security system.

in essence, all systems needs service hatches, its just a question of finding them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The sensor reacts to changes of permittivity around it. If you replace the ambient air with another gas and that gas is sufficiently different from air, that should trigger the sensor. If you replace part of the gas with something different again, ilke a metahuman body, the sensor should again notice it.

So, ideas how to get past it:
1.) Make security think it's another false alarm
1.1) Sneak past while something legitimate (delivery drone, security patrol) triggers the sensor
2.) Slooooow and steady, assume the sensor software interprets that as a natural drift in ambient conditions
3.) Don't get too close to the sensor
4.) Wait for rain or trigger the sprinklers

2 + 3 can easily be handled as an infiltration test, maybe add penalties for heavily wired guys as for motion sensors.

How bad is it that I could read that last post with absolutely no problem or change in thought?

A full body rubber suit? A dampening field of some kind? Like a small electric generator that creates a small continual emp pulse emission?
