Isn't Eclpise Phase basically Shadowrun 40K?

Anyway, for more ideas where SR tech will likely be headed, consult CthulhuTech. Especially D-Engines and the Engels.

like 40K's Warp (just with less ridiculously cheesy dark grimness, please).

Fairly off-topic, I know, but ... the "cheesy dark grimness" of 40k actually makes a lot of sense with the right perspective. When the galaxy is full of rabidly hostile aliens and every human being with psychic talent is a potential portal to an alternate dimension of malevolent demons, the Inquisition and severe oppression begin to look like sensible racial survival tactics.

We had a great Shadowrun-Conspiracy X crossover going here on Dumpshock till the game imploded (see Behind the Shadows). Early implications were just this sort of thing. Secret organizations behind the scenes pulling strings to control and cover up, with faint hints about protecting Earth.

Wish it was still going.

Actually I see the tech in Eclipse Phase being not too far from SR tech. And the "Bracewell Probe" fit the topic and include a Cthulhu like link.

And Nerva reminded me less of Bodysnatchers and more of Lovecraft, especially The Color From Space and that short with the Great Race of Yith.
It's actually Dr Who from the Tom Baker years. In Particular "The Ark in Space." They slipped it in as a dangling thread but most attention in the section is based on the corp stuff.

With all the problems with horrors, evil corps, go gangsm toxics and Jahovah's Witnesses, has any one followed up with an adventure with someone downhere, encountering someone out there?

I was just watching Mila Jankovich's "The 4th Kind" where people in an isolated community are dealing with alien abductions/visitations/examinations and was thinking about the old 1960's show UFO where space aliens are harvesting human organs.

Admittedly ET is going to get his litlte hsip jacked if he lands in the barrens and we'd probably notice Klingons or Darth Vader but still it could be an interesting run, especially if the jaded go ganger/runner thinks the metalic man walking towards them is just some corp chrome and not a 'grey' or even worse, a militant pepper pot with a mutated Kaled with a racist attitude and an itchy trigger finger inside

Great. Smiling owl. That sure as hell wasn't what I needed to hear. Or read. Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, I'll be hidden in the corner even though owls aren't native over here, and may I suggest the smiling owl as the utmost in Alien involvement?

The cheese is more the "EVERYTHING IS OUT TO GET US" mood of 40K. Lovecraft's take is a more reasonable "nobody gives a damn about us (but if they did we'd so wish they didn't)", which I like a lot more - and come on, 40K is realy laying it on thick. And there is absolutly nothing rational about the Imperium. /offtopic

Yes, it looks like a logical development. (And 40K tech is basically the 1940s with lasers)

I have used the Dark Consiracy stuff to put in aliens and other stuff. From the strange tentacled aliens to the humanoid ETs, both have a place I say. I don't see why all that had to "go away" as an option in SR just because there is magic, maybe the aliens are here because of the magic (they want it or they hate it, etc).

That aint a bad idea. Also could do it where they aren't alien, but races from the 4th, 3rd, or 2nd age that got stuck in alchera in the metaplanes and are trying to adjust and take over? Since they have been gone for so long and the technology/magic could be so different from having evolved and grown as a civilisation in the planes that they could appear alien

Then again you could drop hints to the team AFTER the run. The think it was some corp scheme or weird spirit or toxic something and those corp agents were trying to help contain their corps mistake or maybe capture another corp's screw up. maybe a 'slip' afterward. Something like SHADO, Torchwood, UNIT or, well, just , "the good dress in black, remember that...which means what you think you saw you did not see."
