Ok, I'll rejigger a few positions so I can start shooting you. I'll put something up tonight, but right now I need to go learn how to program for work.

Program what? I know how to program.

Suppressive fire covers area that Gil is standing in, up to 2 meters, and 5 meters on either side. Kensei is prone, so unaffected by suppressive fire.

Gil can stay put, dive to cover, or drop prone without eating the suppressive fire. If Gil makes an attack, he rolls [REA+Edge+(Dodge if Full Defense)](7) or gets hit by the bullets. The bullets are gel rounds with tracers, so the DV is 7S vs [BOD+Impact Armor+2]. If hit by the bullets, BOD is considered to be 2 less for purposes of Knockdown.

I love not being in the physical.

So let me get this straight. I can drone prone as a Free Action, but if I try to use my real actions to return fire, I get hit anyway? Or am I missing something?

Shadowrun4.com FAQ
If a character is an area covered by suppressive fire, does he need to make a defense test immediately when the shooter starts firing? Or is he safe as long as he doesn't attempt to move?

If he is in the suppressed area and he is not behind cover or prone—then yes, he must resist the attack as soon as the bullets start flying. Note that any character that moves in, out of, or within a suppressed fire area (other than taking cover/going prone) must resist the attack as normal.

Dropping Prone also gives you Good Cover (-4 to be hit) and you incur a -1 penalty for shooting from cover, but overall prone seems to be pretty wicked.

I need to learn how to connect an SQLite Database to a NetBeans GUI. I haven't taken any classes on it, so I'm having to sift around through the entire JDBC book to find out what I need to go find out in order to design and build it. I bit off a bit more than I could chew with this contract.

I am going to take a Free Action to drop prone, resist getting shot with +4 for cover, then spend two simple actions to take aim and fire.

REA+EDG+Cover=14
(14d6.hits(5)=5)

Resisting 9S (7S+2 net hits) with BOD+Impact+2=9
(9d6.hits(5)=4)

Spend a point of Edge to reroll misses
(5d6=25)
I forgot to stick in the .hits(5) part, but that's no shit two 5s, two 6s, and a three. So I take 1S damage.

Simple Action to Take Aim.
Simple Action to fire one round.

7d6.hits(5)=2
For two hits.

Sorry if I've missed this in earlier posts, how far away is the water from the hotel room? How far off shore (if at all) is the boat? I'm sneaking down that way as rapidly as I can...

Thanks

Think about 60m came up at some point. Not sure if that was official or not.

If you drop prone you are not hit by the suppressive fire at all, so you should keep your Edge point.

Also, which target are you shooting at? There are three humans, one troll, and one ork. The humans and the ork are equipped with Ingram Smartguns, and the Troll has a Franshi SPAS-22 with an underbarrel flamethrower.

The dock is about 60 meters long, and Gil's boat is at the end of it with the pirate squad. The dock starts directly from the hotel, which is sort of hanging over the water, so if you wanted to get into the water directly from the hotel room, sliding out the window would get you there directly.

Yea, sorry. I used up their Complex Action and their Free Action, but I'll make sure to explicitly post that here next time.

The Agents on the different commlinks started a routine that sends a status report to the other commlinks, if you'd like to spoof that.

Okay, another long turn for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
non-action:
Dropping attack program.
non-action:
Threading Sniffer (15d6.hits(5)=6) Creating rating 6 Sniffer CF
Resist Fading (17d6.hits(5)=5) 1S fading, negated by Trauma Damper (I love that thing)
non-action:
Eavesdropping on the encrypted communications (12d6.hits(5)=7) Anyone wanting to notice the conversation is being tapped needs to make 7 hits on a matrix perception check.
non-action:
Threading Decrypt (13d6.hits(5)=3) creating rating 3 decrypt CF
Resisting fading (17d6.hits(5)=6) No fading damage.
Complex Action:
Decrypting channel (7d6.hits(5)=3) Woo, broke rating 1 encryption, multiple threading hurts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)
Free Action:
Eject clip (no roll)
Free Action:
Deactivate sensor (no roll)

Currently at a -4 to most of my stuff! Luckily the agents won't be able to both detect me and attack me on the same turn *whew*

It's an opposed roll. They get Rating + Analyze I think, and I'll get Stealth + Hacking, and with my two threading penalties, I'm down to a measly 8 DP for that.

Hiding from the IC! (8d6.hits(5)=4) There you go, 5 hits to find me. Neat, might actually be safe for a turn.

But do they get to roll after you are in the system? The books seems to say that they get a chance to catch you when you come through the Firewall, but if they don't overcome your Stealth then, they have no idea. Don't they need something to come up wrong before they get to check?

They need to actively look, and in general they won't actively look unless something comes up wrong. I'd imagine the one agent not responding would indicate something wrong, so they will all come in and have a look around, if they don't spot me, they might figure it just crashed on its own and go back, telling the person to reload the agent when they get a chance. If they find me, then the battle begins, but since it will be a simple action for them to look for me, they won't be able to attack that IP at least (And they might not all spot me either. One will tell the others that I'm in the system, but they'll still have to keep making checks to actually find me.)

When my action is up I'll use a simple action to stand up, a free action to run towards the troll and another simple action to draw my wakizashi with my left hand since I can't attack anymore anyway in this IP. (Too bad that Kensei left all his guns at the apartment (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) )

Guess I'll have to eat the flamethrower before I can cut up the troll. The big guy is mine! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Allright, the Agents are currently running an update script, so they'll know something is up by their next pass. No one notices B Bandit's hacking.

Kensei and the Troll move to engagement distance, so they can start murdering each other next pass.

Keys is up next.

I'll post a description in the IC thread in a bit.

Oh, I should mention that I'm going to GenCon, so I probably won't be posting until I get back. I leave tomorrow morning, and I have no idea what I'm doing while I'm there. I'm GMing, but I don't know when or if I'll have internet access. If any of you are going to be there, I'm GMing for the CthulhuTech game.

Handy, that means that we'll be hitting 4th IP after they find me, which they don't have.
