If this was posted already I apologize, but I didn't see it as I scanned through things.

Using 1L I am finding that the drain on all spells after the 2nd are incorrect. In fact, when I looked into the formula the error seems to be in the INDEX portion. After the 2nd spell line on the magic page, all of the others are referring to line 2 of the index (which means its always pulling the drain from the 2nd spell).

Just so you know, I'm using Excel 03.

If there is a setting or something I'm missing I apologize; please let me know. Otherwise I just wanted to pass it on.

EDIT: I just found another oddity relating to the same issue.

In the Spell_Truename section of the Magic_Data page the first line a spell in the B4 section of the Magic page. This continues down the line through B7. However, B8 and B9 are skipped as it goes straight to B10.

A couple of things I noticed are borked, apologies if these have been mentioned already:
  • On the Gear tab: for Electronics - Audio Enhancements ->Audio Enhancements and Electronics - Audio Enhancements ->Select Sound Filter, entering a rating in the Rating column gives the yellow highlight error. They should accept ratings 1-3 (it still calculates the cost properly, though).
  • For vehicles: the ECM upgrade is not in the drop down. It should be rating 1-10, 1 slot, Rating x 1,000 cost, and 12F availability.
  • On the Hacking tab: ECCM has been replaced with ECM (this is also carried over to the Vehicle tab). ECCM is an anti-ECM program while ECM is a hardware upgrade.
  • On the Gear tab: for Sensors -> Active R (1-6) and Sensors -> Passive R (1-6), should it be Active Sonar R (1-6) and Passive Sonar (1-6)?
  • On the Gear tab: Sensor Functions -> Camera should have a rating of 1-6 and the cost should be Ratingx100.

Just in case no one has reported it, but I'm using 2007 and the spell drains are not working right. Get NA or the value above

Since you, myself, a few other people have mentioned this problem, I took it upon myself to figure out the fix for this problem and make it available on megaupload. Please note, this does NOT include any other bugfixes like price inaccuracies, spelling mistakes, etc. All this fixes is the errors on the Magic tab, and related errors on the normally-hidden Magic_Data tab.

DamienKnight: The changes for this branch are documented in this post - the partial-fix linked to in that post is obsolete, please reference the megaupload link in this post instead.

Crosslinking a possible issue FYI. Blackmarket Pipeline Quality may be raising the Availability ceiling. Are they using a different character generator, did they miss the optional toggle for this (it should likely be turned off for initial distribution), or was this mistakenly hard-coded in?

The BMP availability boost is in the settings tab, and is set to +4 by default.

Bug report. When choosing spells the second spell's drain code gets copied down the line for the rest of the spells. When nothing is in that slot, the program gives an N/A code.

I have a request.

I would love a dump to text feature.

Every time I do a PBEM character I end up coping the character over to a text file so it will layout. Or at least coping it to a spreadsheet in a very simple format.

The mobile character sheet comes close but cuts off a lot of gear and spells.

Am I missing some thing?

Thanks

Understandable. It's identical to v1L in all regards except the drain-related bug on the Magic tab, if you're worried about that sort of thing.

Not sure if this is intended or whatever, but when selecting Metamagics it automatically docks you 15 Karma. I'd like to request the option to turn that off, since it's an optional rule for learning Metamagic from sources other than initiation.

Hi,

Joined the forums just to comment on this tool. I have to say that it's fantastic! Character creation is the hardest part of Shadowrun and this makes it a breeze. Without reading all 68 pages I'd like to make a few comments:

1) It would be nice if contacts could work like the skills where you can pick from a list or type in an alternative if there's nothing already relevant in said list.
2) I'm mostly using OpenOffice and while for the most part it works fine there appears to be a bug where the cells get their column height massively enlarged when you add an item in the list. This is not present in excel. I realise it's not designed for OpenOffice but I hope that it is something that at some stage can be resolved.
3) Also in open office: The skills are all over the place. Again, this is not present in excel (where it's groups and then alphabetical). It's certainly not a deal breaker but can be a little annoying.

Other than that. It's awesome! Keep up the good work.

If you select an metamagic in the additional metamagics section instead of initiation section, ofcource it docks you 15 karma as that what it cost to learn additional metamagics, if you just initiate and select a metamagic then it doesn't dock you any karma except for initiation.Or attleast thats how my version works.

Could we get a note section on the Positive and Negative qualities?
I'd like to put Severe Allergic to Silver or Mild Addiction to Guts or the name of an enemy and some background info.

Also could we increase the number of rows for both positive and negative?

I have Excel 2003. I'm a COBOL programmer, but I've had some experience using Excel.

Is there any thing I can do to help?

As always thanks for a great character generator!

Hey all, been extra busy lately due to a new baby and a big project at work (uhhhgggh, the timing! Why can't babies schedule themselves around my work!?)

I understand there is a big issue with spell drain, but it sounds like a community member has fixed it and released a temp fix version. Thanks for the help. Please use that, as it may still be a few weeks before I release a revised version of the sheet.

My SR group has been on Hiadus. We all work at the same place and the workload increase has affected alot of us. When we start playing again, be sure to expect an increase in update frequency for the sheet.

Now, for some quick replies:

Also We would like to add the adept power point as a metamagic power,

The 7 style options covers the maximum limit (35 bp) worth of Martial arts styles. That seems sufficient.

There is a metamagic called 'Power Point'. It is only available to Physical Adepts, and calculates into the sheet nicely.

QUOTE (cndblank @ Sep 19 2010, 06:47 PM) *

Create a 1 sheet excel doc with the layout you desire. If it looks good, I will paste it into the sheet and link it to variables (kind of like the mobile sheet).

Free metamagics is an exception, so its best to handle it as such. Simple purchase the metamagic for 15 karma, then add an entry to the Karma_Log called 'Free Metamagic' and set it to 15 karma.

As always thanks for a great character generator!

There is a note section. Simply add your note to the Quality name in brackets.

ie. Allergy, Severe
becomes

Allergy, Severe [Silver]

What possible situation would you need more rows of qualities? If you were surge III, and everything you picked was a 5bp quality, then maaaybe...

COBOL programmer? Great, write a program like NSRCG, except for 4th.

ah, j/k

I put the sheet in a spreadsheet because it is widely compatible with different systems, and it allows users to easily customize the sheet. (while the pages are locked, none have a password, so feel free to create your own version).

There was a community version of the sheet in developement when I created the SR4DK (based on Artukis and Blakkies original work... they so grrrreeeeaaat). I did not like the idea of having alot of people working on one sheet. Seemed like it would be too difficult to maintain cohesion, and I like having the final say on how the sheet turns out. Does that make me a self-righteous idiot? Yeah, probably, but doing things this way makes me super happy, so thats how Im gonna do it.

If my group decides to not play SR anymore, I may try passing the keys on to someone else. I think it will really be up to the community, since anyone can change the sheet and release their own version any time they want. (preferrably with the credits page somewhat intact (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I rely heavily on the community for troubleshooting and new feature ideas. I also add in pages made by other people sometimes (just see the Credits page to see who made what).

If you come up with a major change, send it to me and I will consider integrating it with the current version.

Also, if anyone is trying to make a revision to the sheet and wonders why something works the way it does, just post your question in this forum or PM me and I am very likely to help you out.

Congratulations on the kid, and here's hoping life calms down for you in a reasonable amount of time. Take as long as you need, and remember that anyone who says the internet is more important than real life probably needs to go outside more. ;)

And yeah, that temp bugfix is my doing. I figured it was a big enough issue that a temporary fix was in order and you probably had better things to do than make one relatively small fix and reissue v1L, so I smacked excel around until I figured out how to fix it. Glad to have your official stamp of approval.

Sorry to ask this here but is anyone able to give me a page reference of where I can find this optional rule? Metamagics seems all but useless for an adept but this seems awesome. I've skimed through 'Street Magic a few times but I really have no idea where it is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There is a bug in karmagen with version L. The attributes point section gives a yellow warning box if you exceed half your total karma in attributes.

QUOTE (Runners Companion Page 42)
The maximum Karma a character can spend on their attributes at character generation is half their starting Karma (rounding up) plus twice the listed BP cost for their metatype or alternate racial concept.

Emphasis theirs.

So for example with a 750 karma total building a troll you should have a maximum of 455 karma for attributes, but it's only allowing 375 before it gives you a yellow box.
