Some of your stuff is really solid. I like the shading on Lantern, and especially the guy in the background on the "Agent Stalker" pic. I like the look, and the "accessories". Guy in front, for critique, proportions need a bit of work, like the arms. I had that problem a lot. Got some good art/anatomy books that have helped along those lines. The front guys gun perspective looks good.
On the one with the three shots of the guy, I like the perspective one. I suck at those most of the time. tHe right hand fist looks good. Center pick waist looks a bit thin, but the crouched shot looks good. Again, gun looks good. I try and draw a bit to, although I don't have anyhting up on sites, except for the one that Grinder works on. Hope I'm not being harsh. I ask for critiques to from my friends and always cringe, so I know where you're coming from. My tip is just to keep drawing, try different styles just to get different perspectives, and work on the things you aren't as good at. And look at an artist that you like. Me, my favorite is Brom. Keep 'em comin' man. |

Okay... Hmm.
The character I have in mind is an attractive human female (Homo Sapiens Sapiens) of Japanese descent, roughly 21 years of age and slender, a decker with the wire to be a good gun bunny. I'd like to see your take on her, but I won't describe a scene - I find artists work best with some creative liscene. However, some points: 1: She's a raver with style. Prefers outlandish clothes, and is equally happy with clothes that conceal and clothes that reveal. Is not shy about exposing her body, either. (Her favorite coat is an enormously heavy, tailor-made trenchcoat that squeezes her breasts, but flares out at the bottom. But she could be wearing anything.) 2: She's most comfortable with pistols and automatics (that's SMGs and assault rifles for those SR3 fans), as far as weapons, but can use rifles, shotguns, etcetera, just fine. (Her weapon of choice is an Ares Predator) 3: She dosen't use melee weapons, but she's competant in the martial art discipline of Aikido, a discipline that emphasizes leverage and throws and using one's opponant's strength against them. As such, she's very graceful. 4: She's an attention hound. If it cannot be done showy, she pouts. She even makes sneaking look stylish. 5: No jewelery, short, medium-brown hair. (For the shading, I mentioned the shade) 7: If you're an SR4 fan, feel free to draw her with some AR overlays. 8: She's a conspiracy theorist and a huge fan of The Matrix. Should you decide to draw a full VR image, that's the kind of background she'd have. 9: If she wears a hat, it's a brown fedora (like Indiana Jones' hat) 10: She prefers women, and isen't shy about that fact. (I dunno how you'd need this, but I just thought I'd toss it out there). |

Can I request one?
Vincent is an Elven ex-Tir military academy brat who wears his military long coat over fetish-club gear (bondage leather with straps and rings). He has fibreoptic cables for hair, colored black which are kept slicked back as best as can be, and a pair of Ghost In The Shell inspired eye-covers. He carries one of those monoswords in a scabbard around his waist, and usually dual-wields browning max-powers. He looks sad most of the time. |

Sure, let's see if I can get the creative juices flowing again. The mental picture is a bit grainy, so bear with me (on the upside, that leaves a lot of room for creative liscence on your end ;) ). And yes, I'm well aware that this concept is something of a rip-off, the last name is a dead giveaway.
Gabryel Sena-A Hermetic Mage that specializes in fire magic, red-haired, slight, rather short, probably around 5' 4", 19 years old. She doesn't have much in the way of curves, only slightly around the hips. She's almost always rather distant, as if she wants to remove herself from her surroundings. She's most commonly seen wearing denim jeans that hug what curve she does have with a Colt Manhunter that she rarely uses (heavy pistol if you're not familiar with SR4) holstered at her belt. She wears a dark T-shirt with a worn leather jacket. On her hand is a plain silver ring and she wears a teardrop pendant around her neck. Her facial features are slightly angular. Eyes are a little deep-set, green (not that it matters, since you're doing B/W). I was never good at faces, so go to town. If you think background material would help, let me know. And another if you so choose: Anubis (haven't decided on a real name yet), average build, around 6 ft, 23. He's a shaman of the Dark King (think Hades or the Jade Emperor). While his demeanor seems rather dark and brooding due to his looks, he's actually inquistive and charismatic. His hair is so black that it shines blue in certain light and rather long, about to his shoulders. He dresses for street life-worn dark jeans and long-sleeve shirt with two buttons at the neck and a long coat (brown) that's insulated for cold Seattle nights. He keeps a Colt L36 in a holster at his back that he rarely uses (doesn't trust it) and two throwing knives in release-holsters on his forearms hidden by his coat sleeves. We wears a bronze earring and a plain copper ring on his left hand. Slung over his back is a plain short sword (a one-hander, 40 in.) that is a weapon focus. Unlike most weapon foci, his is very plain looking. His facial features are more rounded. He's usually got a "I know something you don't" smile. Glad I could provide some practice. Wish I could've given better descriptions. Can't wait to see what you come up with. |

Awesome! I'm on it. I will work on Shadowdragon8685's stuff starting today, should have a rough by this evening. I will post a link here but will post the art in Deviantart for now. Then I continue with the submissions. All of them. They all are great descriptions to work with.

Thanks.
Let me know when you've got something, I'm eager to see it. Can't seem to get the characters out of my head, so I'd be nice to put a face to the voices :wobble: Edit: almost forgot. Gabryel wears a pair of reading glasses that are rigged with vision enhancements (Image link, thermo, vision mag that sort of thing). If she's not actively wearing them (which isn't often), they're usually in her pocket. Anubis has pretty much the same thing, except they're sunglasses and he usually keeps them perched on his head if he isn't wearing them. |

Amusing, because I often have a "Final Fantasy 7" visual style for Shadowrun. Who does Vincent remind you of, though? |

Or he might have been the creator of the Final Fantasy Series who also was the producer of Chrono Trigger along with Akira Toriyama and Nobuo Uematsu who are now all working together again as part of an independent team that made Blue Dragon for the 360 which is coming to the US in June. Thats one hell of a run-on sentence and I'm too lazy to fix it. HEATHENS! |

Hmmmmm...
I like the work, but I'm afraid I do have criticisms - not about your work, which is top-notch, but about the style. 1: Skate is supposed to be an attractive woman, not something that looks like a pug sired her mother and she was rammed facefirst into a wall as a child. She kind of has a bizzare egg-thing going on for the face, which is a major turn-off. Could you maybe... I dunno, it's hard to say what's wrong exactly. I think her neck is too long, her face too oval, and her lips too small, maybe? It's easy to say it's wrong, but it's hard to say how to fix it. 2: The eyes look... Very bizzare. Skate's eyes are non-obvious cybereyes, those look very obvious. Her eyes are supposed to look, well, human. 3: What is that above her left eyebrow? I can't tell, but I did specify no piercings, and no tatoos. 4: Skate's Widow's Dress (which I assume you've attempted to model here) cost over 10,000 :nuyen: , and is very Tres Chic. She would not patch it as is for some reason common in SR3 art; she'd send it to a tailors for a 2,000 :nuyen: repair job if it got damaged. (Which it well might do; it's very effective body armor) 5: Skate's (obviously, if she has 20K to plunk down on over-expensive rave ware slash body armor) not quite rich, but not at all poorly-off, and that cyberdeck looks like a keyboard. Maybe make it more, shall we say, futuristic? Eliminate the keyboard pattern altogether, make it rounder maybe, with fewer buttons but bigger? (Don't forget a port for the hitcher jack) 6: She's supposed to be a petite Asian woman. While I appreciate a pair of big Cs as much as everyone else - believe me - they're inappropriate large for this character. Could you give her a breast reduction? Say, a small B or even an A? Now, on to what I DO like, and there's a lot of it: 1: The shoulder pauldrons. The original coat I was thinking of dosen't have them, but I think they do nicely, actually. Maybe make them a bit more rakish, though? 2: The submachine gun. Looks very good as it is, beautiful. 3: The crossdraw pistol holder, I love it. Maybe remove the snap-catch, though? Skate's had to quickdraw more than once, and woulden't want anything getting in the way. (Angle it forward a bit, if it's not too much trouble?) 4: The cuffs. Absoloutely, perfectly beautiful. Those are how good cutfs should appear. 5: The hair. Most people cna't resist making her hair longer than short, but this is perfect. The style, however, could maybe use some work - Skate goes for a "deliberately unkempt" look, with bangs longer than the rest of it (Framing her face). 6: The bodice. It dosen't match the original source, but it's great, I like it, I love it. 7: The huge collar. I didn't even mention it, but you knew to put it on. Magnificant! (Maybe add some buttons to the front of it?) |

The clothes are pretty good, as are the guns. The cyber deck I like, sincec a lot of them have been pictured that way, and even the fictions pieces (novels) say that many decks (like Dodger's for instance) have keyboards. But liek I said, as always, you're guns look good. I take it the
are datajacks? The face isue, the ears need to go back a bit and down. The head needs a bit more general shaping. Bit more on the brows (out) and chin cheeks (in more). I have that problem all the time, and I always try to do more eye work than is neceessary. Right arm forearm is a bit long. Important part though is that you seem to have a good idea of what you're wanting to draw. You've got a good imagination for drawing. That you can't learn as easy as just practicing drawing. Good stuff man. |

...o.k. perfect. The face... I agonized over that for a while...I'll change it. The eyes were the worst and I think you maybe right about the proportion of head and neck... maybe that will eliminate the problem I was having with the eyes. The things above her eye, data jacks (I guess I better stop thinking old school when doing this which is the problem with the deck.) I wasn't to sure about the clothing, again a matter of perception, you see when I think of a 'raver' I think 'punk rocker'. I'll change the pants. What about the combat boots? Breast reduction I can do. Although hard to tell I'm sure the jacket follows the same line as the bodice underneath and at the hips flares out, at least that is what I was going for. I love the recomendations for the collar and shoulder pauldrons, we'll do. Lastly, the hair, awesome that will help in gettng the face right.
Thanks for the honesty, it helps me to improve and gives me great fuel to work with, I also thank you for adding things that you liked, this shows me your interest in the work. soo... back to work should have another draft by tommorrow. Look for it. calvin hobbes... here's your first sketch. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/47943839/ |

Second one I like too. I liek the little details, like the coat being pulled up by the katana. Any kind of movement is usally harder for most folks, but you seem to like it better than stationary.
Clothing, or more importantly, knwoing what oyu want to draw for clothign seems to be a strong point for you. That's good. The head/face needs a bit of work still, as does general muscle placements. Nose is good, everythign in it's place. Bit of work on the general head though and ear placement. I like the pic. Keep em coming. |
