Is there anyway that the nested forums could be moved to the bottom of the page? It's really annoying when I go in and one of them have new posts, and I click on it thinking it's a thread. They seem to get less traffic, anyway.

Have you tried using the 'Global' settings? You can change it in your profile. This will let you know exactly where the new posts are from the main page.

It'd be nice if they could at least condense the extra subforums they shoved into the basic Shadowrun forum into one or two subforums instead of the four they currently have. It is annoying having to scroll down just to see the new topics in the Shadowrun (and you do have to scroll with any display of 1024x768 or smaller) forum.

For instance, the Sprawl Survival Guide and Dragons of the Sixth World forums could easily be placed in a "New Releases" subforum. That alone would improve things dramatically while adding even more organization to the site.

Uhm... wasn't it like that before?

I don't recall how it was all set up beforehand, all I know is that I didn't always have to scroll down every time I went into the Shadowrun forum. I rarely went in to read up on the new releases.

So even if it was set up that way, why change it for the worse? And even if you did, why ask in a fashion that seems like you're annoyed by the request? I don't remember reading many posts about people complaining about the old format or having to not scroll to see the new posts.

Finally moving the Lounge off the front page was good. I'm quite anal about organizing things, too, and totally support doing that. But crowding all the other forums with subforms... not so good.

Possible solution:

1. Force everyone to use the Global view.
2. Remove the list of sub-forums from the individual forum pages altogether.

Thoughts?

How about "3. Move Subforum Listings to the Bottom of the Page" if possible? It would beat removing them completely, and if people want to see the subforums on the main page, they can switch to Global.

There is no logical place for them to go at the bottom of the page that won't interfere with the legend, copyright notice, and other stuff that's already down there.

Eh?

It would end up looking just like the "Board Statistics" portion of the main page if it were, right above the legend and search functions, but below the New Topic/New Poll and Page Numbers portion. Maybe adding a #-style link to the top of the page so people can jump to the buttom to find it would be a good idea, too.

Of course, putting them back the way they were is never an option.

Honestly, the way that they were just added clutter overall. The forums that were under the "New Releases" top-level forum got next to no traffic. We could just remove them altogether if it really causes that much heartburn for people, but you're right, I don't see going back to the way it was as an option.

Actually, is there just some way that users can "tag" which forums they want to appear on the main pages or whatnot? I realize it would probably take quite a bit of coding to make that work, but it would be the best of all worlds that way. Those who don't like it crowded can get rid of the forums/subforums they're not interested in, while those who don't mind don't have to worry about it. Just default them all to "on."
