I am curious on what Operating Systems that you would like the Applications written for. The Programming platform I am using lets me cross compile for a few different ones. I have only released Windows and Mac since those are the platforms I can test on.

I know somethings are being written in things like Excel so they are (mostly) cross platform.

Thanks

Dont know what to say. Honestly I did not do anything to the poll to automagically change votes from Windows to Mac.

I think Windows and Mac is going to cover most users.
Unless you get an overwhelming push for other platforms (and someone to vet the program for you) it might not be worth your time.
On the other hand, if you are able to make an iPhone app I would gladly buy it.

I can see iPhone or Android, yeah. Aside from that, how about just writing it in Java and letting the user decide which OS he or she likes?

If your planing to create a Open Source program I would make it for Linux first (and offer it in deb rpm and source). You are more likely to get additional developers that way. I think if you make a program as cross platform as possible then that would be best. Why should you make a killer app for Linux and let the Windows people miss out (or vice verca). Some of my best gaming tools are for my PDA and I think that more apps on iPhone, Android, and other PDA platforms (like Palm and Maemo) would be nice.

Mostly cause JAVA is ass (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It causes most of the problems I deal with daily.

Make it as a flash application or some other web based system, that way if you download it you should be able to use it.

Actually that is a really good idea because you will automatically have a cross platform app (as long as the OS has access to the internet). Heck you can even say your app is Amiga 4.1 compatible if you wanted.

Flash sucks. Better Java than Flash.
