I have been going over old rules, and I am not able to find the first edition decking naked rules. I have done some searching here and found that you need some ASIST tech to help you interpret the signal. in 1st ed you needed a program carrier, loaded into your datajack. Program carriers went the way of turn to goo and you could then still deck naked with an ASIST converter.
I cannot find any of these listed, would this just be a simsense rig? I was working on my custom rules for decking last night, and was thinking that a SS rig wold basically be MCPC 1 Bod 1, Sensors 1, Icon 1, memory 5, load 1, i/o 1, so it would let you in, but you are vulnerable. I cannot find the 2nd ED plastic warriors material that had Gurth's rules in them either. Man throwing out RPG material sucks when you come back to everything later. |

i'd say you'd need an ASIST converter in your jack, just like an otaku, rather than a full-blown simsense rig.

If you do not have a converter can you use a simrig?
Don't rigs have ASIST tech in them? You could also modify the RAS to override in a rig and get that benefit for an extra die. (although personally I feel that all decking should be RAS overridden and no extra benefits from it. |

The other problem with decking naked. If you take to long you tend to stick to vinyl chairs when you stand up.

Okay...I know this can't mean what I'm thinking of (that is, decking without any clothes on)...so what exactly do you mean by "decking naked"?

On the Matrix, no one knows that you're decking naked.

Decking Naked is when you are jacked directly into the matrix and do not have a deck to filter/interpret/protect you. Any damage from IC gets dealt to your CNS. |

What I always wanted to know is what would happen if an Ottaku jacked directly into somebody, either another Otaku or a normal decked with or without cyberdeck.
I played an Otaku for a while and wanted to know if I could jack into somebody in their sleep and black hammer them to death without them being able to do anything about it, or even better run an Edit on their CNS. :D |

All those pretty girl icons you see floating around the Matrix probably are controlled by massively overweight 60 year old naked men sitting at home.

Is said Otaku still naked? Do remember that ultimately coitus is merely the exchange of data (and therefore falls properly into the realm of IT). At least that's what I tell my boss. |

This is all very Ghost in the Shell.
BTW Decking naked is on p111 in SR1. Note also the mysterious Program Enabler on p138. |

You can deck naked in SR3, but because you have no Masking attribute or Bod, or Evasion, or Sensor or MPCP, your detection factor is 0 and you can't find anything hidden, dodge, or soak damage. Basically, it's impossible. However, one can make a tiny and cheap cyberterminal that allows most actions to enter the realm of possibility. The cheapest terminal is only 1,300¥ and acts basically just as a program carrier.

I, and many others like me do not have the sr1 rules. There is no pdf version on battlecorps either. I am trying to locate Gurth's rules that he worked for sr2 |

Naked Decking, SR1 style:
The program carrier cyber consisted of three prongs (looking something like the Wolverine-style cyber spurs) wired directly into your CNS. If you've ever seen that pic with Dodger, Sally, and Ghost that was used for the cover of SR1 (and maybe SR2, as well - I missed out on that edition), the "blades" sticking out of Dodger's hand are the PC interfaces - each one loaded with either a Sensor, Evasion, or Masking persona chip. Your Willpower stood in for Bod. You jack those three plugs into either an I/O or Slave port, then wire in your datajack as normal. All MPCP damage hits your mental track, and Black IC will still kill you. You could use your headware memory to store datafiles (with an I/O equal to your intelligence), but you had to make all your utilities on the fly with Hacking Pool. And, for once, you could apply the initiative bonus from your Wired Reflexes or VCR to your Matrix initiative. I assume, if the GM decides to allow PC ware in (which is feasible - the severe nerve damage was probably a side effect of use, rather than an inherent design problem with the ware itself), it'd work pretty much like that - all of the stats and and additional ware still exist in much the same form. |

IIRC, in the technobabel novel, Ronin does this. THere's a research mage with a datajack plugged in to Ronin's head while examining him magically, and Ronin basically decks the guys head. |

Thanks for digging this up .... I downloaded the plastic warriros pdf but I didn't find it ... (It was not an exhaustive look) but I am looking for the second edition rules. I emailed him so I will wait and see if he still has them. Thanks for the post. |
