Hey, I'm looking for 4 or 5 players for a shadowrun game with a bit of a fantasy twist.

Characters should preferably be running the shadows because they have to due to circumstances or force beyond their control, and not so much hardened criminals or prime runners.

Game System SR4 400 BP
Max stat allocation 150
Max Magic Attribute 3
No Rigger types or techno/hackers.
Wide skill base recommended.
Karma will be given out fairly quickly so lots of space to improve.

I'll write up some flavor text tomorrow when the painkillers have worn off for those who want a better feel for whats expected. But putting this up for now to gage interest. Don't have to create characters right now, basic char concepts + short background and maybe a few focus skills would be good for now. The creation stuff is for those who prefer creating a character first. They might change though.

[EDIT]
Okay now that the brain is functioning better and painkillers have worn off...
At the moment i'm looking more for concepts and maybe basic layouts than full complete characters.

DH Why would you be concerned? A mundane should fit in pretty well.

If you guys have any questions please ask.

The Wizard of Oz reference has me on edge's all... I had an Adept cooked up, but with the no Hackers/'Mancers deal, well he wouldn't fit in.

So my mundane former lawyer turned hitman shall have to do.

LOL, it just happened to be the first quote that came to mind when I came up with the idea, will probably use a different name for the actual game.

I am bouncing around the idea of a human ex-intelligence agent turned smuggler. Sort of a skill monkey with a little bit of a face/sneak twist. I recently saw Blood Diamond and my character is along the lines of Danny Archer.

For your consideration:

Erkhan Talshan: Ambitious young Elf who WAS part of the Ancients until he made a move to take over his chapter a little too soon. Unfortunately, the guy he TRIED to off was a favorite of one of the "big bosses." He barely got out of town in time and is now trying to make it on his own. Arrogant as Hell, but also desparate for work/survival. Skill set to include B&E, Blade work (preferably from a bike), Unarmed, and pistols. Some Athletic ability as well for those "hard to get to" places (climbing/Gymnastics/etc.) Could work in some Charisma if the group needs a (reluctant) face. When he get's over his 'tude he can be persuasive.

DH, Allanon, I was just going through some of my old notes I had floating around, I came across the intro for a game I wanted to run a while back but never got any interest, titled Fade to Blood. Your 2 characters are perfect for it. That game initialy deals with the transision of the characters from "normal" citizens to shadowrunners. Its a more serious and darker game, whereas this one is fairly light, hopefully with a bit of humor and some twists.

For the other game Allanon your character fits perfectly, the concept is right on target, for DH, instead of starting off as a Lawyer turned hitman, you would have a chance to play through the transision.

Fade to Blood Intro
[ Spoiler ]

I'm easy either way, let me know what you guys would like.

Tashio, et al.

Got a UCAS Mil Tanker that I put through hell to get to the shadows as a vehicle specialist, would be cool to actually RP that in your Fade to Blood as well.

Another idea would be a small town preacher who finds himself awakened and has to take off due to prejudice and ends up working the shadows. (through various bad experiences of course)

I realize I'm a new guy here, really looking to get in a game though as there is NO-body else around (See my location  ). I actually prefer darker games and if I start screwing-up the game, it's easy to off my character. Just let me know OOC and I'll step out.

The Fade to Blood game sounds great too, I would actualy like running in that one more than the fantasy type one.

I have an idea for a top of his class student who on one of the nights when he wasn't studying gets persuaded to finally go out on the town with some of the other students. But it just wasn't his night, because he gets hit by a drunken motorist and gets most of his left side crushed and broken, essentally beyond repair. He has to get his left arm and leg replaced with cyber limbs, cheap ones at that because he comes from a low class family. This sends him into a whirling state of depression and into many destructive and illegal substances. He drops out of school and falls into a communal squat, where some of the others help him get back on his feet. He starts to put his schooling to good use helping the shadow community aroud him and even starts working the shadows himself, where someone with a brain like his could make a name for himself.

Though to run him I would have to be able to have hacking skills...which I don't know if you would allow, due to the requirements for the fantasy game above.

Okay, well lets see what Allanon and DH have to say. Please note Fade to Blood happens in London not Seattle :) The game starts off as in investigative style, but I don't expect everyone to be private investigators.
Well the game starts off with everyone as sinners, which everyone is, lawyer, student, priest, and allanon's investigator/hunter.

Trigger

Hacker would be fine for Fade To Blood, they are not my strongest field, so might be very light on hacking and simplified. So I'd suggest he'd have more abilities than just hacking. What other background does the student have.

Erros

I like the priest. Expand on where he came from, he would only just be awakened and on the run, recently moved to London. Use some of the info above to try formulate some ideas as to what he might be doing there and why.

If everyone is happy I'll take the 4 of you, there will most likely be a 5th joining us when I manage to get ahold of her and see if she still wants to play.

He would have a background with some medical and biology training along with mechanical and repair skills. And as book wormish as he is, he could still have a quiet downplayed charisma, with some skill as a face as well.

Perfect Trigger :)

New char creation rules, game will start off low powered.

Stats: 150 Points Max, Max 1x5 or 2x4 rest 3 without cyber/bio modifiers
Skills: Max 2x5 or 3x4 rest 3
Items: Max Avail 6 with 2 items of 8 (bio/cyber/equipment)

I will accept with good justification anything outside of these guidelines.

Priest it is, looking forward to turning his world upside down :spin:. I'll start fleshing out a backstory... how much of that do you want here and how much PMed?

quick clarification on Items. 6 TOTAL, or Max Level 6? not that a priest on the run will be carrying a whole lot with him, but good to be sure.

Guessing these are complete strangers to each other?

no no as in any number of items with an availability up to 6 and you may have up to 2 items with an availability of 8

as for strangers that will be up to you, i suspect some of you may have worked together before, priest maybe not seeing as he's new to the area, but allonon and the lawyer may have worked together before but that is entirely up to them

background as much as you like the more the better, but I don't really need more than a paragraph or so for background and maybe a bit of personality, also a sentence or two on any contacts would be good.

you can pm me your details or email, tashio at tashio dot net, if you do email just drop me a pm to say you have, will be on laptop while i'm away next week or so, so email will be checked via webmail and not outlook so its not constantly checked. (I will be online lots just at parents place for a week or so)

Your choice how much information you want the others to know.

I've got a couple of ideas kicking around that I want to get into a game. They're not especially game specific... though I do like a UK version of one of them quite a lot.

1) A courier ala Y.T. from Snow Crash. If you haven't read it and you play Shadowrun, you're sorely remiss. I can say that now that I finally got around to reading it. (this is the one that's cool with a UK twist)

2) A professional pianist at a duelling piano bar.

OOOPS
If anyone sent me a PM in the last couple hours besides Trigger I did not get it (mailbox full) please resend.

Hey Sparks :) unfortunately getting hold of shadowrun books around here is
a nightmare, no-one stocks em which means having to buy from overseas. So have not read any of the SR novels. You still have the stuff I sent you a while back? Courier sounds like he could work, I don't know YT so might want to give a brief breakdown :)

Okay Allanon send him.

Snow Crash (Neal Stephenson) is a cyberpunk (the genre not the game) book. It's got some really, really terrific characters and a quirky and scary world. Page turner. Mr. Stephenson has professed his distaste for SR before, but I can't blame him, elves bug me too. :)

Hey Trigger,

Question on linking backgrounds. you mentioned your student would be working trying to help out in the slums and other unsavory parts of town...

Would it work for you if that's where he meets the priest? The priest will have been in London for about 2-3 days and has hit bottom HARD, but he's still a guy out to help in the end so would start to do SOMEthing around town. Maybe your student noticed him trying to help and invited him along on this "job interview" or what-have-you we're about to embark on? They don't even have to be friends, just bumped into each other and figured they had common interests? Could be interesting for a little reverse mentoring of the streets or something like that...

Tashio-

You said you got my PM, but I haven't gotten any sort of reply, so I was wondering about the questions I posed in it. I can't really finish my character sheet till I get the answers...
