I would give them 100 karma if they did an entire session as a musical. Comments?

Simply put: record it.
Whether for private use only, sharing with family and friends, or with the world wide web, such endeavors should be saved for posterity. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

The question becomes exactly what makes it a musical. Is it just the fact of singing, improved like in 'Who's Line', or do they need to be prepared? It would be nearly impossible to be prepared. And Idly, I can see some people just taking modern day songs and using them in there.
For example, someone starts into 'Beat it' when the team's melee character is attacking. Or 'You Can't Touch This' when they successfully dodge an attack. 'Abracadabra' for the wizard casting a spell, perhaps. Or 'I put a spell on you'. |

After a successful run, you really must have been "hit by a Smooth Criminal". As a shadowrunner, you really are "Bad".

Y'know I've read that like twenty times by now, and half it still makes no sense. So I'm sure there's something in there that correlates to this endeavor. I just did a cursory search and didn't find anything related to music, songs, or lyrics (well, there are some hits, but nothing useful). |

Glad to hear you all like it so well. I really like to think up parody lyrics for songs I hear, and this was one that really worked for me. Here is the final-esque version, for all of your review. Note I replaced "decimal" with "digital" and edited a few other things in the bit I'd posted before, so I'm posting the whole thing in its current form.
I am the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal I've stole it, be it digital, technical, or magical I know the immortal elves, and I quote their fights historical From Earthdawn to Tir na Nog, in order categorical I'm very well acquainted, too, with contacts all reliable I’ve dealt with Mr. Johnsons, both the simple and maniacal About bleeding edge SOTA I am teeming with a lot o' news With many cheerful facts about the latest stuff from Renraku With many cheerful facts about the latest stuff from Renraku With many cheerful facts about the latest stuff from Renraku With many cheerful facts about the latest stuff from Renra-Renraku I'm good at interrogations keeping all my subjects concious I know the scientific names of gases quite innocuous In short, in matters digital, technical, or magical I am the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal In short, in matters digital, technical, or magical He is the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal I know draconic history, from Lofwyr to Prez Dunkelzhan I ran the diagnostics on my teams GMC panel van I quote in Sperethial all the crimes of Humanis Policlub In combat I can floor most enemies with my machineguns-sub I can sell illegal rifles from old Ingrams to those new Ares I know the casting focus of mages at Aztechnology Then I can hack a file of which I've been within its node afore And bristle all the hairs on the neck of the system registrar And bristle all the hairs on the neck of the system registrar And bristle all the hairs on the neck of the system registrar And bristle all the hairs on the neck of the system regiregistrar Then I can write a wired skill in cryptographic data form And tell you ev'ry detail of Ehran’s stash of elven porn In short, in matters digital, technical, and magical I am the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal In short, in matters digital, technical, and magical He is the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal In fact, when I know what is meant by "drundeah" and "zathien" When I can tell at sight Damien Knight from that damned Harlequin When such affairs as corporate infiltrations I’m invited on And when I know precisely what is meant by "Makkanagee morkhan" When I have learnt what progress shall be made in genetechnology When I know by heart the floors of the Renraku Archology In short, when I've been splattering some elemental effigies You'll say a better Shadowrunner surely there has never been You'll say a better Shadowrunner surely there has never been You'll say a better Shadowrunner surely there has never been You'll say a better Shadowrunner surely there has never ever been Paramilitary knowledge, with a mercenary specialty Has served very well in runs from Seattle to the Philippines But still, in matters digital, technical, and magical I am the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal But still, in matters digital, technical, and magical He is the very model of a Shadowrunner criminal |

Wow, I'm surprised no one posted yet... Anywho, just thought it might be worth mentioning that my GM gave me some bonus karma today for writing and performing this song. I only got five extra, but considering we've only averaged 6 or 7 karma per session, that's nearly double for the day!

The only thing that could make this even better is if we all pooled ideas to make a Dr Horrible esqe Musical. I have the equipment. All we need is a cast and a script. *Starts making list of potential actors*

Could I get an address cuz I want to steal that chair.
So I showed one of my actor friends this thread. He knows nothing of shadowrun but the moment he read that song Joe wrote he said "I completely got this game just from that alone." Though he did need a little defining like who some of the characters named were and what SOTA meant. |

State of the Art.
In Shadowrun, its context means equipment and training that is at the very front of the field. There used to be optional rules regarding it, too, in previous editions. If you didn't pay a certain amount of nuyen on a regular basis, your gear would start to degrade its stats to reflect it not keeping up with the world as a whole. Armor would improve making ammo less effective and vice-versa, defensive computer programs would improve making hacking programs less effective and vice-versa, etc. It was really over the top and progressed way too fast. If you were a rigger or decker, forget about it, you'd never have cash for anything else. That said, aside from programs courtesy of Unwired, these rules have largely been obliterated from the game now and are assumed to be a part of your Lifestyle. |

well,.............
I might not got my player to do a musical.. I had my players play 3 songs on Rock Band as their "audition" for Mr. Johnson. Depending on how well they played, effected their nuyen i had one player who refused to play and pretended to be the band's manager instead |
