Runner Alias: Yinglong Fake SIN: Nuriko Kamitoku Fake SIN: Aya Tsukiono Born in Seattle to a pair of UCAS Air Force Pararescue jumpers, Necia was destined to follow in her parents footsteps and join the military when she grew up. Her childhood often involved travelling because of her parents jobs, and as she grew up, she seemed to be the very picture of military discipline, excellent personal standards, and talent beyond most of her peers, graduating from high school 2 years early and enrolling in the Academy as soon as she could at 17 (with parental permission), majoring in music. To the surprise of her parents and everyone else, when Haley's Comet came around in 2061, she Awakened with her previously dormant magical talent. Already part of the Academy, she began rigourous training in magical studies, and within a year was assigned to working in the field under the instruction of Major Fred Riggs, better known as Flash to his unit. She worked with him in the field for a year, serving as a Captain beneath him, earning the call sign Kitten because her apparent youth (something most chalked up to her being both asian and an elf) hiding the fact that she had claws of her own. At the end of that year of field training with Flash, she was given her own unit and sent on a mission to investigate and eliminate an insect spirit infestation in a relatively small town in Illinois by the name of Danville. The mission went south very quickly. There were no insect spirits anywhere in the town, but huge portions of the town had been overrun by shadow spirits, which her team had not been prepared for, having expected to find spirits in physical forms, not manifesting astral beings. Worse still, something about Necia drew the spirits to her unit like moths to a flame, and while she and the couple other mages in her unit were able to fight to protect themselves, most members of the unit weren't so lucky. The unit suffered 80% casualties, and though Air Force brass made it clear to her that they didn't blame her for the loss of so many under her command, and in fact promoted her to Major for managing to save what little she could, she still blamed herself, now knowing that she was the beacon that led them there. Trying to encourage her to stay in and cheer up, Flash gave her a rare and powerful sustaining focus to keep. When the Crash came the next year, she took advantage of her new SINless state and got the hell out of dodge, and straight into the shadows. Deciding that the best way to stay off the radar of the military was to change her image, she cast aside the more formal, upright styles of her former years, and instead took on the more sleek styles of the fetish and club crowds, even going so far as to dye her hair. She still kept in touch with Flash somewhat throughout the years, and in time, he managed to hook her up with a Johnson who would hook her up with some great deals. She was wary, but this was Flash, and he had earned her trust many times over. Little did she realize just what kind of help he was looking to give. 20 Questions (Yay!) -Where does Necia come from, what is her lineage, who were her parents, and what did she inherit from them? Necia was born in Seattle, child of Yoji and Katherine Kamino, UCAS special forces medics who taught her the importance of honor, respect, and discipline. Though she outwardly pretends to have thrown most of these away, she still carries them close to her heart. -Assuming they could speak, what would each of Necia's parents say about her? They would try to tell her that it wasn't her fault, and that she could still serve with honor, that she should give up running and go back to the military. -Where was Necia and what does she remember about major recent events in the history of the Sixth World? Necia was in the Academy during the outbreak of SURGE following Haley's Comet, and remembers it with a clarity few do, as that was when she Awakened. She remembers the Crash equally well, and also with that same bittersweet feeling, as it brought her freedom from those she no longer could trust. -What is Necia's living space like, and what has she added or changed to make it her own? The most obvious would be her magical resources, of course. Less obvious would be the fact that she spends extra on some of the amenities most living in a dingy apartment like hers don't have: real food half the time, an eclectic display of music fandom, old antique musical paraphernilia (like an iPod). Likewise, most of the time she just has dirty laundry tossed all over the place, and it's not uncommon to find a bra or shirt hanging over a lamp. -What does Necia believe in, what are her convictions (if any), and why does she hold them? Necia still believes in personal honor, and protecting those who need it. She refuses to kill children, and is cautious about wetworks runs as a whole. -What do I dislike most about Necia? She sometimes overdoes it with the pseudo-rebellious attitude, to the point that it's laughably fake. -Which of the Big Ten does Necia hold in the highest (or least low) regard, which does she like the least, why? Saeder-Krupp is least low simply because it is run by an ancient and powerful being who most likely has a bit more wisdom than most of the people in charge of the other corps. Ares is lowest simply because of its close ties to the military. -It's Sunday morning and Necia has no other commitments until tomorrow afternoon, what does she do? Sleeps in, makes as close to a palatable breakfast as she can while listening to old music, reads some books. That night she'd go out to a club dressed on whatever the theme was. -What does Necia think of ordinary life, mainstream culture, and those that abide by it? Simply put, she thinks most are being fed a line of bull by the corps or the governments and liking it, while only a few try to make changes to the system from within. -If Necia had a lingering nightmare, what would it be? The attack of the shadow spirits in Danville, Illinois, and having to watch every single one of those men dying as they screamed for her to help them while she was powerless to do so, barely able to save herself. -How did Necia come to be known by her street name? On a run with a few chinese runners, one of them remarked at her ability to remain completely invisible while still blowing someone away, as though from the shadows. He called her fierce as a dragon and smooth like the shadows, and so the name stuck, the chinese words for "shadow" and "dragon". -What is Necia's ethnic background? Italian and Japanese -What does Necia dress like? Usually fetish or clubwear in black, silver, or purple under a lined trenchcoat. -What does Necia look like? Necia looks young enough to still be carded, as though she were in her mid to late teens, and despite her Italian heritage, she looks completely Japanese even to most Japanese people. Her hair is dyed a bright purple and often has silver streaks through it. -Does Necia have any physical quirks? Necia is usually chewing on something.... her lower lip, the tip of her finger, a tool, whatever is at hand. This becomes especially noticable when she's deep in thought. She also alternates between moments of showing no emotion at all, as though studying, and being full of energy and seemingly emotional. |

Eric Francis "Nemo"
Biography: [ Spoiler ] Eric Francis (Nemo) was born on Oct 27, 2040 to a pair of Fed Boeing researchers (Dave and Cindy). He grew up in the Fed Boeing enclave in Seattle, and was able to obtain a solid education (if somewhat slanted towards Fed Boeing). He wasn't much of a book learner to his parent’s disappointment, preferring the active life and acting intuitively instead of the logical approach his parents took. His goblinization to Ork at 13 was also a shock to his parents, although they accepted it with good grace. His younger sister Kayla, who was almost identical in appearance to their mother (before their mothers cosmetic mods at least) and had their intelligence, quickly became the center of his parents lives. High school became more difficult for Eric, as he struggled through classes that his younger sister had already aced, and he felt the weight of his parent’s disapproval though they rarely mentioned it. His allergy to caffeine (Moderate, Common) never helped the situation either, as not only could he not drink sodas with his friends, but he couldn't pull all-nighters before major exams. On the sports field he excelled, and he grew to relish the controlled violence in football and soccer. Despite the Fed Boeing tilt to his education, or perhaps because of the focus on the military-industrial part of it, Eric grew up wanting to do something and leave his thumbprint on the world. The guns, explosives and cool toys were another bonus to Eric. He joined the UCAS Army in 2057, and less than a year later his world was shaken, never to be the same again. In December 2058, Deus awoke, trapping over 100,000 people inside the Renraku Arcology, and began his inhumane experiments upon them. Eric volunteered for the unit deployed to contain the threat, as his younger sister Kayla had been shopping there during the shutdown. Despite his best efforts, and those of all who he could coerce along, no trace of his sister was ever found. This slowly festered and became a Prejudice(Spec, Bia) against Technomancers. Volunteering and switching units as they rotated through, Eric spent the next seven years fighting the minions of Deus and getting advanced training when he was forced back from the front lines. Together with a fellow Rigger (there was a difference back then), they turned the sensor data from Eric and others into a datasoft and then a mapsoft that was continually updated and helped keep Eric alive. That mapsoft and Eric’s attention coprocessor identifying things that had changed introduced Eric to Jeffery Mayes, the Supply NCO. Eric had returned to the Platoon OP with his squad to rearm and relax when he noticed changes in the air ducts and set up his squad right as a pair of Mantas burst out of the duct. Ever since, Eric and Jeffery have had each others back when it came to gear “lost” in the field (that found its way into someone’s pocket). Eric had the stealth and quickness to aid Jeffery in acquiring the things that make a soldiers life easier, and Jeffery was always ready with a bit of extra gear. Jeffery certainly was of great assistance when Eric was looking for cyber/bioware to keep him alive, and could be relied upon to acquire the ware, turning himself into a “Black Market Pipeline for Wares.” Eric’s life took another turn in 2065, when his next orders stated “Drill Sergeant Academy” on them. The Army, in its infinite wisdom, had decided that some of the best should be the ones teaching the new recruits. Eric pushed through, and completed his tour, but when his enlistment was up in 2068, he waved goodbye to the Army and moved to a warmer climate. Eric collected up his savings, and moved to the Caribbean League, settling in Miami. He quickly fell in love with the water and acquired a cybergill and internal air tank to explore this new wonderland. Eric settled into the life of a dive bum, albeit one with a storage unit of mostly illegal gear. The second crash brought more shocks to his life, as his father became a vegetable plugged into the matrix, and his mother died shortly after, as her SIN was corrupted by the crash, and an overzealous Lone Star unit blew her away. No legal redress was possible because all the available data showed a criminal sin. Eric continued a slow moving life of sun and water in Miami before a sharp eyed dive boat captain noticed and recognized the careful movements and sharp eyes for what they were. Captain Burton quietly approached Eric about helping keep another diver safe while they gathered materials in a remote area. As his money was running low, and not wanting to sell any of his carefully collected and customized gear, Eric agreed. He slowly developed a name for himself securing areas while others gathered Telsma or picked up drops from smugglers. Working part time for Captain Burton on legitimate trips helped him keep officially afloat, and if a dive bum spends all his time at sea, who would expect otherwise. He’s continued to work the occasional odd run, and even worked on smuggler crews on the occasional run when they needed the extra muscle for security. Things I had forgotten to cover: Physical Appearance: Doh, how did I miss this one. Standing at a mere 6'1”, Eric is a little on the short side for an ork, but with his bulk noone would mistake him for anything else. Despite his stocky stature, he has a quiet grace to his movement, knowing exactly where his body parts are and where his balance is. With what little hair he has cur short and an erect bearing, it is easy to see something military about him, and when someone sees the thousand yard stare in his brown eyes they wonder just what those eyes have seen. He’s sucked down enough UV radiation over the past few years to develop the deep brown of island dwellers and sun worshippers. He’s commonly seen around the docks in his Urban Explorer jumpsuit, and in the water wearing his diving armor wetsuit. David Costas Background [ Spoiler ] David discovered that he had the healing touch early, when he was somewhere close to ten years old. It was the day that he was taken to visit his father, who was in the hospital due to a random run in with a small group of go-gangers that left him with a broken jaw and three fractured ribs. Despite the initial prognosis that David’s father would be laid up for at least a few days, he ended up being discharged in full health shortly after David’s visit. Instead, David ended up spending a week in the children’s ward recovering from the unexpected drain that followed the discovery of his "healing gift." It was when he was in his late teens that Davis finally caught the attention of the corps. By then he had developed additional magical skills under the tutelage of a local street shaman that David's parents paid to keep David’s abilities from getting him into trouble. DocWagon, the corp that got him first, wasn't particularly interested in his newly developed shapeshifing powers, but they had him pegged as a future member of one of their High Threat Response teams, filling the role of tactical magical support. In exchange for a seven-year employment contract, DocWagon offered David the best magical and combat medicine training that corp nuyen could buy. Though David's parents didn’t have much money or education, they did have enough smarts to negotiate hard on his behalf. DocWagon bargained hard, but finally caved to most of his parent’s demands after they threatened to call CrashCart to see if they'd be more interested in David's talents. Under the agreed terms, David's employment would be limited to a minimum of just five years, and his training would include medical school, not simply a paramedic program. Both parties were smart enough to recognize the value of David's skills, and DocWagon wasn't about to let him slip into the hands of their competitor. A final compromise had David beginning fieldwork while he finished up the last years of his MD, but thanks to his parents he ended up with an education beyond anything that they could have provided themselves. David fulfilled his employment contract with DocWagon dutifully, and actually grew to enjoy the high-tension situations where life or death hung in the balance. But even early on he knew that the life of a wage mage was not compatible with his long term goals. Once his five years were up, he walked away from the six-figure bonuses being offered to him to strike out on his own. He'd watched enough runners in the line of duty to know that he could make lots more money with no less adventure if he sought out a career in the shadows. A former patient put David, or "Doc" as he grew to be called, in contact with a fixer named Kevin Roberts, a guy who since then has been successful in finding David work all over North America, from Seattle to Manhattan to CAS. His last job had him backing up an existing team in the Caribbean League on a one-shot run, and he doubts at least two members of that team would be alive today if he hadn’t been there. He recently got word that Roberts had something nautical lined, a once-in-a-lifetime sort of experience. As always, details of the job weren't forthcoming, but who doesn't love a good adventure? [ Spoiler ] -Where does Doc come from, what is his lineage, who were his parents, and what did he inherit from them? Doc was born to working class parents in the Redmond Barrens of Seattle. They didn't have much in the way of material possessions to pass on, but Doc does have a good measure of their wit and determination. -Assuming they could speak, what would each of Doc's parents say about him? Doc parents would be proud, because already he has made more of his life than they ever could have dreamed. If he ever decides to settle down and have a family, they'd know that their grandchildren wouldn't have to grow up in a place like "Bargain Basement." -Where was Doc and what does he remember about major recent events in the history of the Sixth World? The major turning points of Doc's life so far have seemingly coincided with major world events. It was during his first year of college that Dunkelzahn became president (Doc even worked on the campaign a little bit), his first year of med school coincided with the Year of the Comet, and his first year of residency began just before Crash 2.0. This is Doc's first year as a shadowrunner, so who knows what the year will bring? -How and why did Doc get into shadowrunning? Once his employment contract at DocWagon was up, Doc took a look ahead and decided that his life was no longer up for sale to the corps, at least not for that price. He had a skill set that was marketable in the shadows, a love for adventure, and trid-fueled dreams of making that big score. The next step was practically decided for him. -What is Doc's living space like, and what has he added or changed to make it his own? Doc hasn’t taken the time to settle down since leaving DocWagon. The jobs that he has been getting have required extensive travel, so there hasn't really been much point. Considering the nature of his next job, Doc is glad that he isn't tied down by a lease or lots of junk that would have to be stored. -What does Doc believe in, what are his convictions (if any), and why does he hold them? Unlike a lot of people who often fear change, Doc has always embraced it. This outlook leads him to be very open-minded, but the flip side of that is he is rather deficient when it comes to personal conviction. He is very much still trying to find his way in that regard. -What do I dislike most about Doc? Doc can sometimes try too hard to be all things to all people, but that is something that he has been working on. -Which of the Big Ten does Doc hold in the highest (or least low) regard, which does he like the least, why? Five years at DocWagon has ingrained a lot of bad feelings toward EVO, but Doc isn't a big fan of any of the Big Ten. If he had to pick one to top the pack, though, it would have to be Ares, simply because of its all-American propaganda. -Who are Doc's contacts? "Grumpy" is a Seattle shamanic talismonger dwarf known for his gruff demeanor and fondness for canines. He's known David since David was a kid, so feels a certain sense of loyalty to him, but was really pissed off when he decided to take the corp route rather than continue training in the shamanic tradition. Grumpy also happens to be a bit paranoid when it comes to the corps. It was he who got David his first fake SIN, hoping to keep him from landing on any corporate radar. Marcos Durante is a senior rotor pilot for DocWagon. He acted as Doc's team leader for most of his time there, and really took him under his wing. In 2071 Marcos was transferred from Seattle to the FDC area. Doc considers Marcos to be a trusted friend. -It's Sunday morning and Doc has no other commitments until tomorrow afternoon, what does he do? If he's in a new town, he'd probably do some exploring. If he were someplace more familiar, he might work on his research into the discord between magical healing and the physical toll of magical drain. -How did Doc get his skills? Most of Doc's knowledge and skills come from his formal schooling at the University of Washington and his vocational training at DocWagon. The exception would be the stuff that Grumpy taught him about how to fight and survive in animal form. -Is there a moral limit that your character enforces on the jobs she takes, and in what shadow work would she refuse to engage? Wetwork don't pose too much of a moral problem for Doc in most cases, but he couldn't see himself ever being the trigger man. For each situation, Doc's analysis would include asking whether the ends can be justified by the means. -What drew Doc to the Path of the Mage, how does it affect the way he views the world and his magic, and how does it affect the appearance of the spirits or sprites you conjure or compile? It was the corp's preference, not Doc's. They feel that the technical nature of the Path of the Mage is a better compliment to his technical medical training. DocWagon isn't running an alternative medicine wigwam, after all. Doc knows that they are probably right, but his decision to leave the shamanic decision behind broke his mentor's heart. -What does Doc think of ordinary life, mainstream culture, and those that abide by it? When Doc thinks of ordinary people, he thinks of his parents and their neighbors when he was growing up, decent people who just do what they can to get by. Mainstream culture is something else, something that feels empty to him. -If Doc had a lingering nightmare, what would it be? Doc's nightmare is being hunted by the beast spirits that he called friends when he was a boy. Never turn your back on a wild spirit. -What is your character’s “sacred object” or “close one,” and how did they come to be so important to him? Doc doesn't have much sentiment, either material things or for people. It's just been easier that way because of how many times in his past he has been forced to leave everything behind. The fruits of all of his labor so far, however, is his power foci, and that has started to take a sacred place in his life. He feels less like himself when he is without it. -What did Doc want as a child, what are his goals now? When Doc was a child, he had it in his mind that he would live a life focused on helping people. Today, life has made him a bit of a cynic, and he finds himself more focused on helping himself that helping others. That, and finding enough excitement to make life feel like it is worth living. -What does Doc look like? Medium build, 1.8 meters tall, light brown hair and eyes, there isn't much about Doc that stands out. He has no tattoos, no piercings, no body modifications. He tries not to attract attention to himself, but depending on his surroundings that means that he sometimes stands out more because of his lack of extreme appearance than anything else. -How did Doc come to be known by his street name? "Doc" came pretty naturally, seeing as though it fit both his profession and the initials of his name. Not very imaginative, he knows, but those are the nicknames that usually stick the best. Rusty
Background [ Spoiler ] Dana O'Roarke was born 2040 in Boston, daughter of a pair of stockbrokers. Captain of her high school swim team, she fundraised for Dunklezhan's presidental bid in school. While swimming is not a skill that draws lots of corporate recruiters, the Marines was impressed with her high fitness level and made her a good pitch. Thus, she ended up in the Marines right out of high school, Force Recon to be precise. It was in Combat Diver school that she picked up the team name “Rusty.� Her first term was full of challenging training but uneventful, so she re-upped... just in time for the Year of the Comet. Comet cults wanting to bring about the apocalypse (often with fertilizer bombs) were the least of the things her team was sent out to deal with. Once that settled down, she found her team doing a lot of off-the-books smuggling surpression in the Carib League... the CAS was more liberal about letting certain goods though... magical items and not-yet-illegal drugs. She did several jobs with one Robert "Zalermo" Bennicimo , developing a bond as strong as any within her team... he knew the local environment well and helped her start to appreciate it as well, enough she started to take her leaves down in the Carib League. Then Crash 2.0 hit... that made the Year of the Comet look like a cakewalk, a total breakdown of authority... she and her team were thrown against every real or rumored threat the military heard about, with a lot was even worse than expected. There were over 100% casulaties in her unit... 50 people going through a 10 man team in those few months. Things did start to get better, and she liked to think she had some part in it. Then some email arrived... her parents were dead... the whole apartment block she grew up in had burned to the ground, the fire surpression computers locking the doors and sucking out the air where people were trapped. Word had been held back by her superiors, not wanting to compromise her performance. She wasn't the only one that they'd held out bad news on for months... and that made her sick. With nine years under her belt and a chestful of medals. She realized she was tired... tired of being sent to watch friends get killed for a bad reason just as much as a good one. Loyalty had to flow both ways. She didn't re-up. The CIA made her an job offer, but she turned it down. She her inheritance and a lot of favors with navy buddies (who were OK for squids) to get a ship... all you need to be the captain of that is the keys to the boat! She called in Zalermo to help out... he was good with people and knew the area. Then she learned that boats take on water and leak money... a lot. Simple charter work wasn't paying the bills, but she'd picked up a taste for the freedom of the seas. Rather than give it up, she fell back onto her old skills. That went... as well as could be expected, until her beloved Freedom was sunk in a run gone bad. Now she's been offered a job that fits her skill set, and a new ship... Not her own, but better than nothing by far! Rusty is 5'11� with a swimmer's build, strong shoulders and powerful legs. She has short, curly red hair (which is natural) and a polynesian tan (which is not). She has no piercings and a Marine corps tattoo on the small of her back. Her cybereyes are usually set to a normal style with green irises, but sometimes she favors a pattern where the whites are black and the irises are yellow. She's 32 years old as of July 4.
