Notes

Field Day At the estate of Aust, the Elf Noble, things are not as they shold be. The fields wear shallow and dry, and the workers are disorganized. Aust's assistant Hanthros does the best he can to keep things running smoothly on the estate, but fears retribution from his former Senator Vildeen of house Tyrthani.

Templar's Request A templar has asked a meeting of the new noble, requesting a private meeting in the near future to discuss an exchange of "favors".

The Weathered Man At the Golden Inix, a man with obvious signs of the road, and a lot of it, is looking for help retrieving a treasure from the grips of the desert, and has silver and steel to support his claims of riches in the wastes.

Night Bridge The Elven Bridge, a landmark for centuries within Tyr, has recently been laid claim to by the elves of the Lone Moon Clan, a clan of merchants and thieves within the Night Runners Tribe.

Poisoned Wine While meeting with Agis of Asticles in the Golden Inix, Aust, the noble man, was poisoned, his life saved by Huukena, the Elemental Singer .

Night Terrors Someone or something is preying on the citizens of Tyr, striking in the night. Agist has asked them to investigate.

Locations

The Golden Inix

An exclusive wine house and inn off the main caravan way, the Golden Inix has been an icon in Tyr for longer than anyone but a dwarf can remember. It maintains is exclusivity by the oldest, tried and true method; it's prices. Featuring not only the best wines and ales in Tyr, but from around the Tablelands, the Inix is a well refuge from the bustle of the city for many nobles and wealthy merchants, as well as the occassional bard or traveler with a tale to tell. The proprietor occassionally allows in some of the more "colorful" citizens to add to the amusement of the patrons, although they are always kept to the front area.
The Inix has two stories, the top consisting of private dining or drinkng rooms, lavishly appointed enough to fill the needs of any noble or templar. Smoke rooms dot the exterior, with the inner courtyard area reserved for the evening's entertainment. The inn it's self is the rear most section of the large building, seperated by a small wall to keep the sounds of revel from disturbing the guests. An exterior wall with a single gate blocks the proprety from Tyr at large, mainting the security and sanctity of the grounds from the common rabble.

The Estate

Passed down from the Sorcerer-King Kalak at a whim from one of his nobles to a slave, "The Estate" was a statement of what Kalak thought of his nobles, and how little their concerns actually meant to him. Slave and noble were the same in his eyes, so giving over the lands of two houses to an elf and a half-giant were more than a joke, it was a deliberate slap in the face of the nobility.
Two years later, the state of affairs still stands. The lands have nearly gone to waste, maintained as best as could be by freed slaves, but unorganized. None of the former grounds keepers or overseers ever returned, leaving the field work to hands with dubious experience, and little oversight. Only the curious friendship between the elf Aust and Templar Girias, High Templar of the Water works, has kept the land from becoming completely barren.
"The Estate", as neither elf nor half-giant have family name, has become a point of political debate. On the side of the nobles, they cite it as an example of what happens when former slaves try to over step their ability (more to the point, their station, in the nobles eyes). To the freed slaves, it stands as a statement of not only what the slaves can do with a will, maintaining, if even barely, without the slightest support, or even opposition from the standing nobles, but also as a testament to Tyr's new diversity. After all, who ever heard of an elf working fields anywhere else, or a half-giant noble.
The political lines are fairly polarized, with few notable exceptions, such as Agis of Asticles siding with the Freemen faction. His support has been central to the "Estate" lands not being seized and redistributed by the city. So far.

Layout The main manor house is three stories tall, the lowest level beign the largest, and the higher being more tiered in design. Like many Tyrian designs, the living quarters are on the lowest level, to avoid the rising heat of the day, while work shops, storage, and the like are on the highest. There are a total of 12 available bed rooms, as well as a small study, a pair of lounges, a parlor and dining room for receiving guests, a dance hall, the kitchens and galley for the house workers, and a wash room, where the pampered Tyrian nobles wash with steam. Most food goods are stored in the basement levels, as well as the more sensitive areas, such as the small vault. Also within the walls of the Manor house is the well Room, the main source of water that is not part of the irrigation for the fields.

The Elven Bridge

An icon of Tyr, this small bridge, spanning only sixty feet over a dry creek bed easily crossed, has been a symbol for the elves of Tyr for centuries. It's fine stone work and elegantly carved stylings depict free flowing streams, elves at play and war, and fantastical creatures never before seen on the face of Athas. As the unofficial official border to the elven market, control of the bridge sometimes fluctuates between the city and various elf clans. Control of the bridge is usually little more than a status symbol , altough is has been used in many various pursuits in the pass, including attempts to extort tolls, and as a free standing market. The most recent use was as a site for a slave traders stand, now gone with the freeing of Tyr's slaves.

Agis of Asticles

Loved, hated or distrusted depending on who you ask (or which faction), Agis is if nothing else, a very active political figure. A human man in his early thirties, Agis none the less has a distinctive streak of white in his otherwise long black hair. Well dressed and groomed, he is also particulalry weathered looking especially for a noble. He has none of the characteristic slackness of soft skin common to the nobility, appearing very tanned and lean from the sun and work.
Agis strongly believes in the rights of Freemen, despite being a former slave owner (parallels to Thomas Jefferson). As a statesman, he has driven through a number of changes, some say reforms, sometimes even in oppositino to King Tithian himself, rumors say a long time family friend. He tries to connect to the common man, and does better at it than most, although many freemen can't help but notice a slightly condescending attitude, as if he knows their needs better than they do. His supporters say that he infact often does.
Rumored to also be a poweful psionicist, Agis has become one of the leading figures in Tyr's new governing Council, as well as a hero from the Fall of Kalak, and currently rides that popularity, from the war Front into the Council room. He is also currently arranging his marriage to a half - elf, a former slave and reported sorceress by the name of Sadira, another hero of the Fall, and also lover of the gladiator Rikus, which earns them all significant political flak.

Halin the Tattoo Artist

As one of the very few city elfs that earns the least bit of respect from the tribal elves that move through Tyr, Halin occupies an unique position as a go between for the desert runners to the market. His own business consists of artistic and usually colorful tattoos, some of which may even be imbued with psionic power. he is in high demand, although few can pay his prices for his true works of art (or power). He is also something of an info broker to those new to the market, having lived within it's environs for a very long time. He knows nearly everyone, and usually hears what he doesn't see. He is also a very devout elf, and will show great respect and deference to priests, elven or not, when he won't even provide a discount for elven chiefs.

Hanthros

Formerly the scribe and assistand of senator Vildeen Tyrthani, Hanthros left his former master's house at great personal risk, escaping a position he occupied for many years because of mistreatment from his master. Finding himself a freeman for the first time, he took the chance to live free, even without security, than live with the yoke still in place.
Now acting as advisor and assistant to "Lord Aust", Hanthros has quickly become invaluable to his new master and his estate. Long since the handler for the Tyrthani estate, Hanthros has found the new estate in disrepair, a new project to begin. Much smaller than the tyrthani holdings, he has found that he can manage nearly all of the estates affairs almsot singel handedly, needing only his Master's approval to keep the wheels moving. Although difficult, he finds it infinitely more rewarding than his previous life, and gladly dares the assassins he is sure will be coming for him, and his new master.

Two-Weapon Fighting: Training as a ranger has taught Jace how to fight with two weapons, and he does so surprisingly well.
Up the Walls: A side benefit of the training of his psionic potential, Jace has developed the ability to literally run up walls and along other surfaces.
Urban Tracking: Jace can track down or shadow individuals in urban environments, relying on his ability to gather information more than relying on survival techniques.

Bardic Training: He also gains bonus skill points for use with entertainer skills. Craft (Alchemy) and Knowledge (Local) are his current skills of choice, allowing him to add some 'magical' flair and comedic observations to his performances.
Bonus Feats: Jace has gained the equivalence of the Quick Draw, Two-Weapon Fighting, and Urban Tracking feats.
Favored Terrain: Jace has lived most of his life within the walls of city-states and has developed quite a knack for surviving there. He gains a +2 bonus to Gather Knowledge, Hide, Knowledge (Local), Move Silently, and Sense Motive checks while within their walls.
Poisoner: Exceptionally skilled in the use of poisons, Jace never has a chance of accidently poisoning himself.
Smuggler: He gains a +1 insight bonus to Bluff and Sleight of Hand checks for every two class levels as a bard.
Streetsmart: Jace has been around the block a few times, and he gains a +2 competence bonus on Gather Information and Intimidate checks.
Wild Empathy: Jace has a limited ability to improve the attitude of animals, gaining only one-half his ranger level to the 1d20 roll.

BARDIC MUSIC VARIANT
Bardic Training: Instead of gaining Bardic Music, the bard gains one additional skill point per level for any Craft, Knowledge, Perform, or Profession skill of choice at levels 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15.

URBAN RANGER VARIANT

Class Skills: Replace Knowledge (Nature), Knowledge (Dungeoneering) and Survival with Gather Information, Knowledge (Local) and Sense Motive.
Favored Enemy: In addition to being able to select creatures or environments as per the Dark Sun rules, an Urban Ranger can select an organization as their favored enemy.
Urban Tracking: Replaces Track, allowing the use of Gather Information to track down individuals within a community.
Wild Empathy: Jace adds only half his class level to wild empathy checks.

WEAPONS
Jace is surprisingly well-armed for someone who appears to be anything but...
Bard's Friend: Jace's off-hand weapon in most serious fights, this is a cruel advancement of brass knuckles with poison-tipped spikes reaching out from betwixt his fingers and shards of obsidian jutting from either end. The damage it does is superficial, but it is capable of vicious critical strikes and the reputation it has as a poison delivery system is enough to make even a half-giant think twice.
Bard's Garrote: A wire mesh wrapped in supple leather and worn as a bracelet, this is Jace's last ditch weapon as it is also the most difficult one to discover as a weapon.
Flying Dagger (x6): Jace keeps at least two of these slender throwing blades hidden on his person at any given time. He often uses them as part of his act. He leaves them unpoisoned, but coats the obsidian blades with an alchemical oil that causes them to twinkle with a myriad array of colors when juggled in the light of a bright sun.
Pelota (x16): Filled with poisons or alchemical compounds, these make for brilliant distractions when escaping from danger or for creating a diversion. Jace is fond of using the goo from tanglefoot bags with them, but also uses them for smoke diversions and acid or alchemist's fire delivery systems.
Widow's Knife (x2): Jace's preferred weapon, this knife has a poison resoirvoir within its hilt and two prongs concealed therein. On a successful hit, Jace can activate one of the prongs inflicting a token amount of damage and injecting the target with the poison.

ARMOR
Piecemail Armor: Jace's preferred armor consists of a set of Artist's Armor for his torso and legs and the equivalence of Medium Gladitorial Armor for both of his arms. The Artist's Armor is part of both his Wastelander and Entertaining Outfits, and the Gladiatoral armor is part of his Wastelander Outfit. Under the standard rules, this composition grants +3 AC, +6 Dex, and a -0 Penalty, but it has been adapted for the optional rules from Unearthed Arcana per request.

MAGIC/PSIONIC ITEMS
Sending Stone: Jace can use the Sending spell to communicate with the owner of the other half of this small stone, namely his mother Surandra the Wisened. It is protected by the reverse of Nystul's Mystic Aura, making it appear to be a simple bauble that he wears as a cheap amulet.

Character Description

Jace is a young, dark-skinned man of Gulgan birth. He is of average height and gentle build, which allows him to blend easily into the local populace at a moment's notice. Combined with his soft, pensive black eyes and otherwise unremarkable features, his appearance is tailored to belie his cunning intellect and the predatorial lifestyle that he leads. His clothing follows a similar pattern; he prefers slightly oversized and loose-fitting garments that not only help keep him cool and allow him to move freely, but which help conceal the myriad weapons and other items of ill repute he keeps hidden on his person. To the untrained eye he appears as a simple entertainer, traveler, or commoner, depending on the role he is playing the part of at any given moment. And that's precisely what he'd have you believe.

As far as his mannerisms go, Jace is normally very quiet and reserved. When posing as an entertainer he often wears a Venetian-style mask of cloth and leather, and he relies on miming and the sheer power of his performances to entertain the crowds... all the while watching and listening to everything going on around him. Other than the occasional bemused smile or a deathly serious stare, he rarely if ever wears his true feelings upon his face. Those who come to gain his trust, however, are quick to realize that he is a very personable and fun-loving soul when he lets his guard down, and he will protect those he cares for to the bitter end -- a fate he's had to witness far too many times already.

Sorry, I have a one-track mind when it comes to creating characters and I've been focused entirely on someone else. I'll dedicate my free time tomorrow to working on Jace and cleaning him up.

Update: I posted Jace's character sheet. I still wasn't sure what you meant by some of the equipment issues we discussed, so I used my best judgement. Let me know if I did it all wrong. I also applied the armor changes you mentioned from Unearthed Arcana and a couple other things from there. I find it humorous how SinN and I were both attracted to similar feats, and I'm glad to see his focus on skills seems to be a little different than my own. Partners in crime, indeed! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It looks like I'll be able to move more freely in combat, when things come to that, setting him up for flanking and backstabs galore, too.
