Heh, the bit about VDV reminds me of an old joke: "How does a Russian parachute work? - Like an airbag. It opens on impact." Mostly because trolls could jump like that, kick up a big dust cloud upon landing, then shake it off and merrily go on kicking humongous amounts of ass.
