An adept can earn additional power points by undergoing intiation to increase his magical ability. However, only one point at a time may be gained that way. What happens if I wish to purchase an ability that costs more than one power point? Can I delay purchasing so I can save up for a more powerful ability?

You can also spend Karma to purchase additional power points during game play. Pg. 168 SR3...
