Inspiration in the oddest places, Confessions of a movie-goer... Options

Ok, I went and saw GI Joe.

There wasn't a single thing in that movie designed to appeal to the average American woman that I noticed. This was a pure guy-flick with non-stop action, guns, babes (rubber breasts? OK, somebody needs to seriously give the directory a hum job), gadgets, super-science bulldrek (which wasn't quite as bad as expected), one-liners from Hell and its environs, shaky camera shots, over-the-top CG, and violence without a single drop of blood except in the final inevitable black-ninja vs. white-ninja battle in the reactor-room-thing.

In other words, it was a pretty decent modern take on the old kid's cartoon.

Was it a total waste of my time? No.

Were there moments where I was considering butchering myself to escape? Oh, yeah. But they inevitably passed quickly.

Was it a waste of money? That's debatable. You'd have to see it for yourself.

Were there moments that made it worth it? Absolutely. And some of the one-liners were actually pretty classic, nearly all of them from the Baronness.

Will I probably wind up buying it on BluRay? Yes, more than likely.

In summary? It was an absolutely attrocious movie that was not a waste of my time and was in fact a fun way to turn my brain off for a couple hours while I took a little ride with the (better than expected) plot and associate brain candy.

But I have to admit, as I walked out of the theater, I was overflowing with little ideas and inspirations for new Shadowrun hooks, plots, ideas and descriptions.

First, am I alone amongst those who saw that [adjectives redacted] movie?

Second, what other movies in recent (say, last year or two) have had you walk away inspired to sit down and crack your books?
