OK, my new and shiney VDSL line with 50MBit down and 10MBit up is finally here.
Time to get cracking on racking up some serious traffic. I will be getting an AVM Fritz!Box 7390 as my VDSL-Modem/Router. It comes with Gigabit LAN, 300MBit WiFi n-draft on 5GHz Band. Also, built in FTP and UPnP-Server too and a 500MB internal Flash-Disk to act as a NAS. Furthermore, i can connect USB-HDD's with FAT or NTFS to the router directly and have them dynamically enhance the built in flash disk from 500MB to up to 2TB right now. I am planning on getting one of those ULV Computers, maybe an EEE-Box from Asus, or the really small Acer Aspire one . . maybe even one of those Apple Mac Mini Computers and put Win7 on it to host some MegaMek Servers that will run under my dyndns account for 24/7 then with completely passive cooling. I own by now, TWO NAS-Systems, both with 4TB of Space. One of those can do Torrent-Stuff on it's own too, so i can, i think, actually really do what i was talking about some months back . . Basically do a complete Mirror for MWLL. Have the NAS download the torrent and keep sharing the torrent too. Also open up the torrent incoming directory for FTP direct connection i think. Either use UPnP from the Router for Media-Streaming or install a media Server on the ULV/HT-PC to do UPnP/DLNA File-Streaming and some MegaMek servers that i will run 24/7 under my dyndns account when i am done. Anything i have missed? Any recommendations concerning the really small Computer? Anything else? Tell me about it, let's nerd out a bit. I have enough money to buy most things Computer/Network i think. So don't hold back. But of course, i'd appreciate the cheaper versions. |
