A Matrix Question on Nodes Interloping Options

I'm a bit sloppy on the issue of matrix nodes and their interconnection, so i need an advice.

The situation is as follows:
There is a corporation with it's own nodes, network, security, etc. There's an employee of the said corporation, who uses his own satellite uplink from inside the corp building (he somehow smuggled the commlink with the uplink into the building) to access the matrix (via VR if it matters) and conducts some private communications. The question is can the corpsec monitor these communications, how can they do it if they can, and why can't they if they can't?
