Welcome to the Recruitment Thread for the first major push in the Living in the Shadows campaign world. The following three runs will comprise sub-games 3, 4, and 5, and collectively fall under the heading of the It’s a Small World sub-campaign. Each is about the length of a module (a la convention style) and are designed to provide new players a convenient and easy entrance into the World IC thread of the Living in the Shadows campaign.
These runs will differ from the typical game here on Dumpshock in that all three of them function within a previously defined, fleshed out campaign world (the Living in the Shadows campaign). The main difference as far as the sub-games are concerned is that the three runs, while not connected, may affect each other. Some in obvious, direct ways, others in more subtle ways. Similarly, events that occur in the World IC may also have a bearing on one, all, or none of the runs. Additionally, because outside events can and may affect your runs, time does matter. Not necessarily because time in that particular run is a factor, but because as time passes, other things may happen to affect your run. Note that all three runs will be roughly synchronized to take this effect into account. Important: Players are requested to not read the threads, IC or OOC, of the runs they are not a part of. After all the runs are over, you may read them for your enjoyment. However, even then, I would STRONGLY prefer players did not. In the near future, a Shadowland-style thread will be up for players to discuss in-character the runs and happenings, just like in the Shadowrun world. Use this, or even hold a discussion with another character who participated in the run in the World IC. All these little touches will make the world seem much more lifelike to you, make the game come alive, and ultimately, contribute to a far superior gaming experience for all parties involved. Obviously I cannot monitor this, but I am relying on players’ sense of honor and desire to maintain the integrity of the games and the campaign to ensure that there will be no metagaming of this sort. OK, but enough warnings and disclaimers, on to the good stuff. First, the runs themselves. Sub-game 3: Salvation Concept: A team of runners heads to California Free State to free someone’s metahuman relative from General Saito’s metahuman concentration camps. In the process, they will attempt to not only rescue the target, but to destroy the camp, preventing it from being used this way in the future, and get out as many people as possible and back to Seattle. Think you’re up to the task chummers? Player Qualifications: Up to 7-8 players will be accepted. It is highly recommended the team consist of a mix of talent. It is a guarantee the team will need a rigger, probably several magicians, definitely combat types. A decker will more than likely be very helpful as well. It is also recommended that the PCs be of an altruistic bent. Sub-game 4: Unfriendly Terrain Concept: There have been some strange and unexplained phenomena coming from an area of the Barrens. This stands in the way of a corporate development project, and needless to say, that can’t be allowed to happen. Go in there and take care of whoever, or whatever, is causing this phenomena, and enable the corporate project to get back online. One way or another. Player Qualifications: 5-6 players accepted. Magical characters are a necessity. Oh, and be able to survive a fight without getting your head taken off. That is, if you like living. Sub-game 5: Crusade Concept: A concerned shaman is worried about what will happen when a corp moves in on their home, and hires a team to take out the director in charge to stop the project. And when they says take out, he means permanently. Player Qualifications: 4-5 players accepted. Characters should be prepared for wetwork, and will probably need a solid mix of skills and abilities, depending on the approach they choose to take. The following dates are important. I (WinterRat1) will be accepting character submissions for sub-games 3 and 4, Salvation and Unfriendly Territory starting now and until Friday, August 6. You may PM me or email me at alexwong945@yahoo.com. Tisoz will be accepting character submissions for sub-game 5, Crusade, from Saturday, August 7 through Sunday, August 15. Sub-games 3 and 4 will be opened on Tuesday, August 17. Sub-game 5 will be opened on Tuesday, August 24. I will still be running all the sub-games, but I will be out of town and not even remotely close to a computer for about a week, hence the reason Tisoz will be handling submissions for me while I am away. The reason for the week gap between games 3 and 4, and 5 is to give me time to process the characters he sends back to me, and to reflect the timing of the various runs, as mentioned earlier. Note that the players allowed are just the maximums and/or the suggested amount. If I don't have enough characters to play that run, depending on how short we are, I will either discontinue the run or just run it short, also subject to the opinions of the players. Please see the following thread for information about the Living in the Shadows campaign world, character creation rules, guidelines, and so forth. Living in the Shadows: Guidelines The important things to read are the Character Creation Summary, and to skim through the first post, and the Character Interaction Guidelines. A brief glance at the posting guidelines should suffice. Note that all characters approved for the sub-games are automatically approved for entrance into the World IC. Please feel free to post any questions here on this thread. I'm looking forward to playing with you all. I know it's an ambitious project, but hopefully we'll all be able to make this work, and a game to remember! :) |
