At that point we've turned Mechwarrior into Interstate '76... not that I have a problem with that.

I have to admit I am glad now I held off joining in early for this.

I think it will be interesting in the long run as the whole kickstarter thing and it's standing will be looked at.

I mean the concept is your investing in the development of the product. But are you just an early buyer who also donates for added shinies or are you an investor and all that entails.

You are not actually issued stock, but again if you invested in a project that promised one thing and they go off the reservation, what do you do?

My ideal BattleTech video game is a straight port of the tabletop rules, in full 3D with high-res 'Mech and terrain art. Basically, MegaMek with awesome graphics. I cannot, for the very life of me, understand why no one is making this.

Because they can make way more money slapping MW skins over another FPS and make lots more money?

Well theoretically.

MWO wasn't Kickstarted . .

Okay, Founder's Program, but for all practical purposes it serves the same purpose in being crowdfunded.

As a Canadian company I don't think they could have used Kickstarter (limited to US for now) plus they got to avoid the KS fees which is always a plus. The product itself is well enough known to be able to draw people in.

According to one report they sold over 70,000 Founder's packages.

The basic demographics were 35 percent (24,500 packages) at the $30-dollar level, 30 percent (21,000 packages) at the $60-dollar level, and the remainder (24,500 packages) at the $120 level.

That's a fair level of commitment by fans and it shows self raising for a project can work.

I have spent zero dollars on MWO. The new project phoenix founder-package is fucking awesome and I want to drop the 110 for it so bad. (80+30 for the addon). I'm just hoping to scrape it together before it goes away.

Really? Now? As I understand it, MWO's playerbase is fleeing like rats from a sinking ship. This is the time you choose to drop $110 on it?

You can set your own client to always use 1st person, but you don't affect other players.

Supposedly when you are using third person there's a flying drone that sits above and behind your mech indicating to others you are using it, but I haven't seen that in-game.

Well, looks like there would be an easily solution to the outcry. At least for half of the playerbase, the other half will remain butthurt over the game having become a more noob-friendly without actually affecting those who don't want the training wheels.

You start using 3rd Person as a default i think.
also, in 3rd person, there is no map and/or no radar as far as i can tell.

That would be more amusing if you could blow it away. Or, alternatively, stop it from working with EWar.

one good point to do this would be to do it as they claimed it to be in the fluff . .
drone mount, weights 5t costs 5k or so per use.
or make it a consumeable. and destructible.

They wouldn't need 3PV if they just added a proper(and maybe mandatory) tutorial so all the "Call of duty" players could learn the very simple controls and how the upper torso moves in relation to the legs. OH would you look at that that, just took a look at the MWO site and it looks like the newest update DOES include a simple tutorial covering movement, its about time.

Well I just started, finally got a rig that can run it... old one died and took forever to replace it.

I'm loving my catapult.. just trying to decide between the A1, C1, or C4 chassis... really like the Cs for the lasers though not the best brawler pilot (yes I like to sit and shoot at ya over the ridgeline.. neener)

But thinking of picking up a medium mech chassis for a brawler one, the hunchback was always a favorite even if it has low endurance ammo wise

Plan on having all 3... that will be a necessity to work up the mech skill trees. And if they ever remember what community warfare is, you'll need em for dropship mode.
