Yeah, I think that was Solitaire's job this time, assuming she can spoof the telephone. If not I think we're out of luck for that call; we can't jam a hard line can we?
As for whatever "those" are, I'd say our top priority is getting *out* before the security cameras turn back on. If it's really important--and I mean someone's-parents-dangling-over-acid-vat really important--we can try re-inserting Ghost and Trogdor after the guards get off the roof and Ghost is no longer hanging to consciousness by a thread, but for now we should get the Package to safety. Oddly enough, the insertion itself seemed to go very easily, and if we can rig up a way to keep Sol and Advert wired into the building without stuff hanging out on the roof we could probably have stayed down here all night without much worry. |

I agree. Unless we *need* "those" to get out, I'm probably gonna advise against any detours on the way out. If she makes it worth our while later to come back in, maybe we would, but I gotta imagine security'd be tightend after her escape. It's not a job I'd be likely to take... then again I say that alot these days. |

I'm sorry, I missed that altogether. Although I still don't think you've resolved the question of whether to actually ask her about "those" or not.
Last I heard in real life, switchboard hardlines were definitely connected to in-house telecom systems. This system is "off" enough that it can be comparable - so yes, Solitaire can spoof it. Sorry, you probably will have said it - but exact course of action? So far, you were working your way back toward the elevator, and have almost made it to where the corridors cross. |

Best to stick to the plan as much as possible, the plan was made when you hadn't been hit over the head with a hammer. Any 'bright' ideas you have at 6+ boxes of stun are probably not to bright.
The package has not said anything about dying without her hair ties ( :D ) so we don't need to worry about them too much. We have the medicine lodge to protect against any ritual tracking attempts and after the handover, it'll be the packages problem. Een it the hair ties were in the catalog rooms we looked in earlier, there is no timely way to find them. Right now, it looks like we have ~6 minutes to get to the roof and get gone, plenty of time to get the job done, as long as there are no deviations. Just ask 'Is there anything here that your life depends on?' or a similar question and if the answer is 'no', then get in the elevator and worry about it later. |

The same, I'm afraid, could apply to my catching what everyone is hashing out wrt this thread ;) Everyone seems to be saying close enough to the same thing, I'll get on with it.
The answer is, she hesitates, with a definite corresponding flicker in her aura. |

Heh. Don't forget to start getting our butts to the elevator, even as we're talking. We need to get OUT, not sit around yammerring.

Maybe the conversation takes place in that awkward span after you've pushed the button once but are waiting for the car...

She clenches her fists, and then, after another quick glance at Ghost, firmly shakes her head.
Actually there was a reason I stopped the action where I did - because the moment he hits the cross-corridors, Trogdor is caught by the current and swept down a good ways (but still within sight) before he manages to catch himself ... barely. Going forward astrally along that corridor (the direction toward the elevators) isn't going to happen. |

oh snaps! we're gonna be down here a bit... is it concievable that due to the difficulty for astral beings in passing through living material, that we could infer that living, especially awakend tissue creates friction or resistance, and thusly could a physical person walk down that hallway and let Trogdor piggy back to the elevator? would it help if the carrier was dual natured? |

Does having your meat body wounded 'snap' you back to your body? IIRC that's what it did in second edition. It made a useful way of gettting you mage back on short notice. A friendly knife in the gut could be just what the doctor ordered.
What about going 'oout' via travel through the earth? How much time would that take? |

Most possibilities listed are potentially feasible. All have serious difficulties. Re piggy-backing: Difficult (not least given the required continual balance), also physically limiting and strenuous to the person doing the piggy-backing: since the interaction would let them feel the full strength of the current. Slipping would be a constant concern - with no immediate ability to brace if the current does sweep him off. There is also a possibility, with that degree of physical link, that what intersects in a non-pleasant physical or mana way with one might be conducted into the other. Re travelling through earth: Definitely possible. Definitely slow. Definitely also fairly high possibility of getting lost before hitting man-made parts again.
Don't remember this one at all. (Reference?) Wouldn't it make hash of the potential to be trapped away from your body by FAT bacteria and such? |

I don't think wounding the mage's phys body "snaps him back" but I do think the mages knows he's being attacked.

Looks like that no longer applies, applicable section of the rulebook is p173 'While you were out'.
Guess that was a 1st or second edition rule. |

I think there are a couple ways to snap a projecting mage back, but most of them involve checking for Magic loss, which we really don't want to do. In a world of shoulda's we now add a big one: the mage was having problems for awhile now, and should have listened to them. Paranoia saves lives, and now we're stuck with a time crunch and a crisis.
Well, first off Now, is Trog manifesting so he can tell someone else (read: Ghost) he's getting swept along, or can he not keep his concentration on not getting sucked in long enough to do it (have him make a judgement call before trying anything, of course)? If he can and does then we're gonna have to get our decker do what she can to keep the security cameras looping in the sub-basement while she and Advert unplug and get their electronic hoops off that roof. If we go this route then I guess Ghost is getting that short rest she needs like it or not :P. If not, well, looks like Trog's on his own, 'cause noone else can see him. Maybe he'll be getting disrupted, or disrupting himself maybe? Thought: can Trog make a SuperMove (eg. use fast astral movement) and just get out of the whole building, or is he too stuck to move even that way? |

He had been manifesting. He would probably have dropped that in the moment of sheer surprise and reaction, which means that Ghost can't see him. It caught her attention, though.
Words within reason are always free actions. Fast astral movement won't be possible against the current at this point. |

does the package say *anything* to Ghost, reacting to when Troggy gets sucked along the corridor? if not, then I suggest something along the lines of: Ghost: <surprised, and as if to no-one in particular> What the devil? What just happened? Where'd he go?! |

Somehow I think Ghost would be a little more professional than that, especially for someone who specializes in stealth (eg. not talking). Maybe something like: Ghost (tapping her ear and speaking subvocally so Package doesn't think she went nuts): "Solitaire? Advert? Got a little problem down here with Trog. If you need to pull out early I understand, but let me know when you do and where I can hole up." Remember:
Given these, I might consider having Trog do what he can to erase our astral signatures and just risk the hit to his Magic by getting disrupted. Can a projecting character disrupt himself? I figure that if it were possible then most mages would learn how to do it early on; it's better than dying.
Note: next time we try a different linking setup. Leaving no EM signature is all well and good, but there is no excuse for requiring a blimp sit on the roof for all eyes to see. |

Ghost does have some sort of subvocal microphone etc. with her infiltration gear, right? It'd be a shame to have such a silent person have to speak into a handheld radio tranceiver or something.

it was done intentionally and calculated, to try to provoke a reaction out of the Package, who it seems is dual natured... (maybe not : shrug : ) ok, it was probably a stupid idea. btw: what beings, other than shape shifters, are permanently dual natured? edit: and yes, I think there was at least a subvocal mike if not a transducer |

Re subvocal microphone: if not on the original list, then revised accordingly, because you're right, there should be one.

Anything in the critters book with a z next to the essence, anything that SURGES into it, cyberzombies, ghouls, and whatever the GM decides should be dual natured as an exception even if none of the normal conditions fit it correctly. |
