I'd be into a shot at gaming on the boards.
I haven't ever done a play by post. I have been around on the boards awhile, but never really dipped into the Welcome to the Shadows section. I can do whatever needs done for characters... Probably a physad bare knuckle boxer for the moment. |

Here it is a week after the week after I said things would be going along, and I've been swamped with work-related blockades and a sleep deficit that kicked my ass mid-week. I'm sailing, technically, but will be spending the time I have today pouring over concepts/apps and such.
For Avial: Since there seem to be few issues with a 6 Avail, that's what we'll adjust it to. It does put the damper on some things, but it doesn't make anything un-doable completely, and there will be in-game opportunities to snake better gear. Answer to the restricted gear: No. In a low-level game restricted gear demarks a huge jump in what you can get, whereas in a regular avail game it just allows access to a few nice toys. |

Unfortunately the initial deadline has passed, however, as pointed out earlier in the thread, there will possibly be a good heavy turnover of gang personnel, and if things go smooth, I may open up the game to a few more active participants. I can put you on the reserves if you like, and while things go, we can talk character/concept so that when the time comes you'll be able to jump right in. |

The thing to keep in mind is that, save for the bigger boys, who you won't be encountering unless you get really brave real quick, everyone you encounter is going to be built under similar restrictions for avail. There will be chances to score better gear as well.

The cutoff for new interest is over, the final cut, however, is not. Those of you who have given brief concepts, but no rough sheet, should post one asap.

@saint sithney, I like your number crunching, you wanna look over my character? I don't really want to get too into a meta-game optimization thing, but... Something to remember for your character is that he's a gang member. Because of that, certain augmentations aren't really out of line. Maybe after he got jumped in, he decided he needed a little juice, so he got the local doc to fit him with a set of synth muscles. Muscle Replacement is very common among gangers, and +1 str +1 agl for 5,000¥ is boss. It would also give you more wiggle room in your stats. Also, bp specializations are a bit pricey for a low-end game. Unless you've got a dire need for those dice, or your first few karma are spoken for, it's almost always better to just spend the 2 karma after the game starts. Also, like I said to Aria, you can use a melee skill for close-range defense, (for example your Unarmed Combat skill can sub for Dodge in the form of Blocking,) and then take Gymnastics for the Gymnastics Dodge at ranged. That sort of cross-appropriation of skills helps you keep versatile. Also, 10,000¥ for even lvl 1 Synthcardium helps with Gymnastics Dodge as well as all other athletics tests. Hell, Synthcardium is probably the most critical ware a guy can get imo. 2BP and 0.1 Essence for +1 to an entire skill group. Hard to argue with that. |

@ Saint Sithney:thanks for the input man. I know that specializations are a waste at char-gen, but with the skills capped at 4, I kinda wanted the boost. gymnastics is a great idea, but I don't see this guy doing cartwheels and flips. I'd only be using it for dodge, and it wouldn't work if I was in a car or a hallway. I'm gonna look into the cyber. It's totally in line with the character, and maybe I could free up some points from attributes... the whole concept is circling the drain right now at availability 6. His primary weapons are all gone, and the whole focus of this guy was to use drugs as weapons/tools. I got some thinkin to do.

I think drugs will be relatively easy to come by in the game seeing that we are playing gangers and drugs are big on the streets. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The Slab thing isn't out of line and it's really effective (and expensive,) even if it requires you to wait a CT for the drugs to kick in. It's confusing that a drug which causes a state of simulated death is easier to get your hands on than a tranquilizer... Maybe DH can save your concept through fiat.. Also, on the cyber front, don't forget that 3BP worth of ¥ can get you Tailored Pheromones 1. That's some ware which fits your guy very well. |

Ok, what follows is the list of people that I want to hear more from/work with on the final development of the game. This is the first cut, and anyone not in the list who wants can be put onto the reserve list. There will be turnover, no doubt, so if you are not on the list, PM me and I'll put you in reserves.
It took a bit of wracking my brain to think how to put this at manageable levels, and finally I decided to just go with the name the gang had by default, and keep a dozen. The three names not listed are the three guys I know RL. Questions, comments, concerns, and death threats can be PMed to me directly. Here goes the list, in order of no specific order: Red-ROM: Micky, the social infiltrator; Chance359: Ortega, Aztech Bloodsports Orc muscle; Combat Mage: Feral, the kid mage; Aria: Scratch, the Invisible Path Adept; kanislatrans: Matto, Mowhawked Orc Muscle; St. Sithney: Còsimo, Muscle w. Social Graces; Propaganda: ???, Army brat courier; Branmac: Bear, Counterspelling Adept; and Blackhat: Grim, Gangland medic. As it might be evident, there are a lot of mixed backgrounds involved, some former gangers, some fairly priviledged (by Loveland standards). That all ties in with the gang's history, and the former leader's philosophy, which will be detailed more soonish on another thread. The gang is a turf gang, though one that is primarily comprised of misfits and outcasts, a place where people from all over can come together to live in the cracks left by the other gangs/syndicates, and to survive. For now, I would like to see from the above the current sheet you've got going, along with a bio that would have you a part of the Dozen for at least six months. As I get them, I will be PMing questions, and will be opening dialogue with each of you on wiggle room for the avail cap, and other concerns you might have to realize your characters as you see them, but in a way which fits the grit I'm looking for. |

And just as I post, I spy someone out of the running.... I'll need to meditate on a replacement, but for now I need to get to work.

I'd love to toss myself in for a spot, I've always loved your games and it looks like you've got an opening. If you've got someone in mind already, I'd love to grab a reserve spot.

Jacob "Grim" Graham
Reworked with availability <= 6. Major changes include the removal of most augmentations, changing the delivery van into an RV (which Grim treats like a combination apartment/ambulance/clinic), and replacing the autodoc with a few more orderlies. Pretty flexible on anything that's here, so let me know if you see anything you'd like fiddled with. Bio [ Spoiler ] Sheet [ Spoiler ] |
