Rick keeps up a light banter pretty much from the moment they get within sight of the Border Crossing, and will continue so until the Border Guard shows up at his window.

He's still recording everything, and storing it for later review, and examination.

Mentally Rick gets himself into the right frame of mind.

You're out on a date, going to CAS for an Early dinner, and who knows maybe something else.

He's keeping an eye on Warden and how things go. In case their border crossing turns into a nightmare.

You exhale the breath you'd not noticed you'd been holding and move into the crowd.

Inching forward, you finally find yourself with a guard to speak to you. She gives the vehicle a once over visually, and asks "Your names, destination please? And reason for crossing?"

You move ahead as well, keeping right behind the Nissan as it pulls up to the guard, your eyes peeled. So far, the only thing that has you on edge is that it seems like every other line is moving faster than this one...

Rick Noland turns to the Guard, "Lyle Emmet, Ma'am. We're heading to Mama Sarah's up in Montebello. We got early dinner reservations." He smiles up at the guard, and reaches over to take Ghost's hand as they're talking to the Guard.

Please .. please.. don't freak out about the touching.. He says to himself.

Warden starts to breathe normally again after that little encounter. I could use some acting lessons from suit back there. If we keep doing this border crossing thing a lot, maybe I'll ask him.

As he walks away into the CAS sector, he looks back at the border crossing to see how the others are doing. When he sees that he's gotten through first by a little, he makes sure to walk a little further down the road, ready to stick out a thumb to "hitch a ride" when Lyle gets close.

Elayne leans over Lyle a bit, in order to better see the guard through the window, supporting herself with one hand rested on his right thigh.

She looks at him and then back to the guard, smiling, and adds: "Name's Elayne Allister, ma'am."

Afterwards, she drops back into her seat (taking care not to wrinkle the envelope).

The guard makes a couple quick notations on her comm, and then gestures to a pull-out to the left of your car. "Can I have you pull in here for a quick scan of your vehicle? Just a random screening, you know how it is. When it comes up on my screen, we have to do it. We'll try to make sure it doesn't make you late."

Neither one of you believe her for a moment, but see little option but to drive the little Jackrabbit out of the main line and over to a scanning tunnel. There's currently only one vehicle there, and the troll driver is, if you're understanding his bass roar, playing the metarace card.

He is escorted away, and you pull up. A guard approaches and asks you to leave your vehicle. "I'll drive it through and you can walk through the pedestrian tunnel there..."

Elayne gets out of the car, hoping that Lyle doesn't hide a machine gun in the trunk, but he doesn't seem to be the type for that.

She focuses herself, in order to keep the nervosity down, glad she left her own gun at home.

"Of course sir, I understand how it is." He gets out and gives her a big smile. "Can't be too careful these days. Come on honey, hopefully we won't be late for our reservation."

Rick takes Elayne by the hand and walks his way through the pedestrian tunnel.

I hope the couple of handguns won't be a problem. He double checks the license information on them to be sure.

Cruiser watches as the Jackrabbit is pulled over and Black Suit and Ghost talking with the guards. As he approaches the guards he activates his SIN and permits to carry weapons. He looks around carefully for anyone taking a special interest in the vehicle, Maybe someone has paid off or alerted the guards to search the vehicle to delay us so they can set up an ambush. They will probably have a look out to give a signal once the Jackrabbit gets through... Show your face little bird...

He then will attempt a smile at the guards and in a weary but friendly voice, "Good evening Officers. The name's Marcos del Campo.. I'm a Security Consultant. I have an unloaded pistol and SMG on my person. Here are the permits. It's been a long day, and it was only a half shift; I hope I do not have another day like today, not sure what was crawling up the boss'...uuhm. Anyway I'm just going home."

He will keep his jovial tone, but still keeping a careful eye on the road...

The technician drives the car through the scanner, slowly and carefully, parking it on the other side of the scanner.

Ghost and Rick move towards the pedestrian scanner, hand in hand. forced to go single file, Ghost goes first, and emerges without any issues. Rick follows and a guard approaches.

"Sir, please step over here," he says, taking you to one side, a hand on your bicep, not violently at all, just guiding you.

Ghost is near enough to overhear the guard say, in a low voice, "you appear to have two improperly licensed weapons in your vehicle..."

Cruiser does the hail fellow well met routine well, and while these folks are corporate security, they're not Lone Star. They do respond to the same kind of banter, however, and seem to relax a little with your declaration of your gear, and wave you through.

Your attention is focused elsewhere, however, and you see the car driven through to the other side, and Rick & Ghost disappear into the pedestrian scanner, but you can't see the other side until you clear the station yourself. As you pass, you see Ghost standing and waiting, and Rick talking to a guard in a shadowed alcove.

Cruiser shifts his bike into a higher gear and rolls away from the Checkpoint. He searches for Havana and 6th on his GPS and once located, will send the address and GPS coordinates to everyone:

He thinks back on his old gig. Not really that old, but it felt like it. He was hundreds of miles away and on the other side of the law now. What a difference a couple months makes.

He looks confused for a second trying to figure out what it could be. "Oh! Damn.. are those still in the car? I went shooting at the gun range with a friend of mine the other day. I have those for home protection. We must have left them in the car. I'm terribly sorry. I'll go straight home and drop them off."

He gives the guard his best apologetic, this is a simple misunderstanding look.

"Oh, well, of course," says the guard with terrible fake sincerity. "Just a simple licensing mishap. Normally we'd have to confiscate those sorts of things, but you look like a fine, upstanding citizen. Maybe you'd prefer to just make a donation to the CAS Border Guards' retirement fund?" He produces a device that you recognize as a credstick reader.

"Two hundred and fifty is, ah, customary..."

Rick doesn't miss a beat. Although he's also recording this for posterity.
"Exactly, a simple misunderstanding." He fishes out one of the small cred sticks Eric gave him earlier today, and runs it through the reader, a small 250 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) sum.

"I am quite sorry for the mix up, I hope everything is in order now?" He asks completely innocently.

While this is all going on, Rick is already plotting a faster way through rush hour to make up some of the time lost, and seeing how long it's going to take to get to the UCAS Border.

"Your generosity is appreciated, sir. Please, come again." You're through and on to the other side, where the car awaits.

Your various maps, GPSs and the like indicate that that now that you're in the north part of the CAS sector, the routes that lead directly to the UCAS are many, but either staying on Colfax, where you are now, is one typical route, while 6th, a few blocks south of here is another common thoroughfare that actually goes all the way through without dodging in and out of residential streets. A third is to take Speer, which runs diagonally through the same territory. Looking at your maps, one is inclined to shake one's head - in the old downtown, on whose border you now stand, streets are rarely through, and often go at 45 degree angles to the surrounding streets. It's a recipe for gridlock if you go much further north than Colfax.

As the car pulls up to where Warden is waiting, "Maybe we should go with Cruiser's Coyote for crossing into the UCAS side? What do you guys think?"

Warden laughs a bit at the guard requesting a bribe. Just like old times. As he steps into Lyle's car, he sees several guns put together.

"Planning for a new york reload or two? I guess you really do want to risk going with the Coyote. Keep in mind, we got an hour and a half to work with and have maybe 40 minutes of driving plus a border crossing to go."

As Lyle and Cruiser start moving, Warden starts putting together an Enfield-AS 7 shotgun, loading it with a drum of regular rounds. "This is Jessie, she knows how to take care of business."

He checks the clips, and slips the weapons into the holsters he's been wearing this whole time. "Street legal Taser, couple of light pistols for quiet work, and something a bit... heavier.." He looks over at the shotgun. "Although, not heavy like that."

Rick shakes his head, "I knew corp security guys took bribes, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Border guards do too. Good thing I guess, or I'd still be stuck there."

Once the weapons are all put together, he'll cut in for the car and do some judicious speeding to get where they need to go.

Looking at all the guns put together, Elayne mentions: "Left my own gun at home. Don't have a license for it. But I'm fine without a weapon. Hopefully we won't need them, but I guess it's better to be prepared."
