So, in one of the Shadowrun novels (I can't remember which one), there's a magician whose ally spirit can take the form of a motorcycle. Hilarity ensues.

Now, I'm trying to duplicate this feat in game, and I'm having a little bit of trouble. Motorcycles are fast. Ally spirits.. not quite so fast. Is there any way to make an ally spirit that fast, preferably without resorting to outside influences? Or even at all?

Just make the spirit form a chopper. They're more for style and noise and less on the speed. Plus, if you really need the speed, does the spirit have any additional powers, like Movement? You might have to conjure (if you can summon these) a nature spirit that has movement. They can make you go faster.

Spirits can inhabit living creatures, so all you really have to do is make the motorcycle be "alive" and then kill it by having the ally spirit take it over. Then the Ally's force is added to the speed of the motorcycle.

So just start with an organically grown motorbike, and then have the ally murder it, and you're good to go.

well, if you just want the motorcycle Ally Spirit for city driving, without needing to make getaways on it or race it or anything, all you need is 243 extra Karma (assuming you start with Force 5) to get the Quickness up to 23. That's 82 kph, and okay for most uses that don't require you to outrun anything in another vehicle. You want to do racing, you're looking at either doing the 'summon another spirit with Movement to help you out' bit or spending many years' worth of Karma on a Quickness 60 Ally Spirit.

Pretty much you're going to have to work out house-rule details with your GM if you want this to actually work without sacrificing all your advancement forever or doing the extra-spirit cheat.

You mean a horse?

One could also enchant a real motorcyble as a homuculus. I don't recomend that.

One could also house rule giving an aly the Movement power limited to itself.

Get a bike made from bones... Oh yeah, I can see something similar to Ghost Rider. So, gonna wear that leather jacket and have a helmet shaped like skull that's on flames? :-P

A helmet! Do you have no pride? If you are going to imitate Ghost Rider you have to cut your face off and actually set your exposed skull on fire.

An Alpha-grade obvious Cyberskull costs only 30,000 :nuyen: and .6 essence. It has a capacity of 4, which means that it can contain armor, which in turn means that it can be given armor modifiers. Those modifiers include fire resistance. That leaves up to 2 capacity left, which is enough for a built-in chemical reserve. With a Datajack, you can have a DNI that controls that chem resevoire, and lets it out at will.

So for less than 50,000 :nuyen: , and less than 1 essence, you can have a skull-head that lights on fire whenever you want. That's quality right there.

don't forget to put into chemical seal/fire resistance featurs for your skull, especially around the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. or where they would be in your cyberskull.

Oh and wear some flame retardant clothes. You lose cool points if you use your flaming skull and then start running around like a screaming schoolgirl as your clothes accidently catches on fire. Though, I'd pay nuyen just to see that.

Three words: Astral Fast Movement.

It can move what, Force x 1000 feet per second?

All you need to do is assense, so you become Dual Natured, so your body gets pulled along for the ride.

You don't need an ally spirit to pull this off, either. Watcher spirits work fine.

Only if you care about you general well being. Anyway, you've already stripped all the flesh off your skull in order to allow it to be set on fire at will, so waht is the big deal?

A drop bear would not allow itself to travel horizontally at that pace. They are strictly into vertical accelerations. ;)

Not until you hit a wall making a tight turn while the Ally keeps on moving.

Or until you realize it is a really stupid idea that should have never seen print.
